Summary: taken was absolutely addictive
Review: I loved this miniseries and could hardly wait for each episode to air. I stayed up late watching, although I had to be up very early in the morning for work. It was just so engrossing, suspenseful and addictive. My mom and brother were also "taken" with it. I have recommended it to everyone I know in case it airs again or is released on dvd or vhs. I only wish that I had taped it when it was on.

Summary: Sure to "Take In" Many Viewers
Review: "Taken" tells the story of three families whose lives are affected (and sometimes controlled) by alien abductions and encounters. This miniseries (composed of ten 90-minute episodes) spans three generations, beginning with the Roswell incident and carrying the story to the present.

Given the complexity of this structure, the storyline isn't too hard to follow and flows fairly smoothly (thanks to frequent reminders of where and when we are).

On a whole, the people who populate "Taken" are engaging and well-fleshed out. A young girl's thought-provoking voice-over introduces and guides us through this adventure, usually to great effect. Unfortunately, there is an instance or two of that irritating tendency to get us interested in a character before summarily removing him or her from the picture.

As far as special effects go, "Taken's" are consistently unremarkable. While we do see some aliens and spaceships, as well as (briefly) a large computer-generated animal, this is definitely not an effects-driven show. Rather, "Taken" is driven by something wholly nontechnical - the clever portrayal of human emotions.

In short, this miniseries has good acting, an insightful script and splendid portrayals of the various time periods; while certainly not on a par with Spielberg's sci-fi spectaculars "E.T.", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", or "Men in Black", "Taken" conveys a mixture of just enough suspense and genuine emotion to "take in" many viewers.

Summary: I was taken by Taken!
Review: I consider Taken to be one of the best works of not only scifi, but movie making in a very long time. It's incredible the story Les Bowman wove together for a 20-hour movie with guidance from the expert himself Steven Spielberg. I would have to say I was mesmerized by the great little actress Dakota Fanning as Allie Keys. She's a little wonder of acting ability at such a tender age. Made me a big fan of her. It was amazing watching the lives of the three families involved in the story intertwine over 50 years and culminate in the very touching ending. Can't wait to own it on DVD. We need more TV like Taken!

Summary: Taken
Review: I loved this miniseries and I will be glad when it will come out on DVD. We waited anxiously for the next day so we could watch it. It was not so far fetched that a person would get tired of it, instead it kept our interest constantly and there were no slow times, just a constant happening. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Summary: Taken-A Series to Great Movie
Review: I think that the series "Taken" was one of the greatest works I`ve seen in a while . I think that the series/movie didn`t involve somthing that was so far out of the minds perspective, that even sceptisist might belive now . The idea to take the pieces and put them together into the movie was genius and it will certainly be a top seller . I don`t know how many poeple had the Sci-fi Channel during the series but ,theres a pile of people that did and had something interesting to tell their friends about at work the next day . Like I said great idea , I`ll be the first to buy!

Summary: Not the best mini-series ever!
Review: I am writing this in response to several other reviews. This is not the best mini-series ever. Roots gets that honor!
However, this was the best mini-series in many years. While I do not believe in UFO's, abductions, or government cover-ups resulting from the Roswell incident, I am a fan of Science Fiction and I consider this one of the best portrayals yet of these themes.
What struck me in the end was the use of religious imagery throughout the story (John as the precursor to the Messiah, the denial of Allie by a follower, the grieving parents, and the Army Centurions searching for accomplices in the closing scene).
The performance by Dakota Fanning as Allie was amazing for one so young. Emily Bergl as the adult Lisa gave a strong performance.
The fact that this production appeared on a cable channel and still received a Golden Globe nomination and an Emmy speaks to the quality of the production.

Summary: Taken by Thomas H. Cook
Review: I have not watched the DVD version of this movie. I did; however watch the first half of a two part show on the Sci Fi chanel. I was truly upset to find out there was a second half and I didn't watch it. I am very interested in viewing the other half of the movie. It was just getting good.

Summary: Best mini series ever
Review: I loved the movie and I liked the way they had it set up too. Each episode left you hanging with questions and ideas that you had to find the answers to, which brought you back each night. I couldn't wait for the next one. I just hope that they don't cut out anything when they put it into a movie. I want all of each episode to be in the DVD collection. They can either combine the show into a continuos multi-disk movie or leave it in the episode form, no matter how they do it I am definantly buying TAKEN

Summary: Taken with Spielberg
Review: Spielberg is absolutely brilliant! This movie was so realistic! It was not difficult to imagine being there. It felt like it was actually happening. The little girl in the movie was fantastic!
This movie kept me on the edge of my chair the entire time. I didn't want it to end. It was like reading a great book and wanting to get to the end to see what happens but not wanting to get to the end because you don't want it to be over. It is the very best of it's kind. I can't wait until I can purchase it on DVD! I'll be anxiously awaiting the sequel.

Summary: Beyond the Sky
Review: This is the title of the first installment of the amazing 20 hour mini-series (Steven Spielberg Presents) "Taken". This is one of the best mini series EVER made... of any genre.
Congrats to the 10 directors; the writer; all the producers, actors, the visionary, Steven Spielberg, and everyone else who worked on this project.
This mini series will not be soon forgotten.

("My mom used to talk to me a lot about the sky. She liked to watch the clouds in the day and the stars at night. Espeically the stars. We used to play a game. A game called, "What's beyond the sky". We would imagine darkness, or a blinding light, or something else that we didn't know how to name. But, of course, that was just a game. There's nothing beyond the sky. The sky just is and it goes on and on, and we play all our games beneath it"- Allie)
