Rating: Summary: Can't Believe I Watched The Whole Thing! Review: The blurb on the box looked interesting enough. The premise was fascinating. The plot was familiar-sounding, but intriguing (teamwork required to glean participants skills to escape this "maze" within the cube). The movie was interesting for about 10 minutes. I kept hoping something different would evolve. It left me a bit panicky that people would actually sacrifice their lives rather than cooperate and that tempers would really flare to that degree, but I'm skeptical mankind is in reality this idiotic. Do not waste your time and money on this video.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Cronenberg, meet Mr. Serling Review: What Americans must think of Canadian filmakers! Cube is a curious hybrid of influences: think David Cronenberg's early horror/science fiction films combined with plots culled from The Twilight Zone, particularly "Five Characters in Search of an Exit." Viewers are introduced to the film with a startling (and graphic) pre-credit sequence before the film attempts to answer why these men and women are trapped in the Cube (thereby creating further questions). Despite some clever scenes demonstrating the "lab rat" conditions imposed upon these "cubists," the film suffers from poor performances (with the exception of Nicole de Boer) and an awkward feeling that the film is really "stealing" from masters to tell an uninspired, rehashed story.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE GREATEST AND SCARIEST MOVIES IN YEARS!!!!!!! Review: I didn't expected to much of this movie, but I rented it because I tought it was fun waching 6 men trying to get out of a cube maze. It was actually one of the greatest and scariest movies of ALL TIME and I RECOMMEND it to all of you who haven't seen it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: All I can say is---- OH MY GOD! Review: This movie was unbelievable. I started it, figured out the plot, and just wanted to fast foward to see how it concludes. I would have missed A LOT! Its that type of movie where you see the beginning and think it might be dull so you just want to know what happens. Boy oh boy, was I in for a surprise. PLEASE GO BUY THIS. Ending could've been better but still was excellent.
Rating: Summary: Good movie, Good ending Review: This movie was great. It's definately making strong comments about society. I thought the actors did pretty well also. The ending was great, but it did leave a lot of questions unanswered. But, that's the point of the movie. You don't need them to be answered. Overall, you should at least rent it.
Rating: Summary: Bleakly Brilliant Review: This film gives the suspense/action genre a bleak, nihilistic twist, somewhat reminiscent of Seven, but more so. The real hero of the movie is the disillusioned, cynical Worth, whose revelations about the origins of the cube are more profoundly disturbing than either Quentin's laughable Bond-villain or Holloway's paranoid conspiracy theory. The viewer is led to despair of hope - even escape from the cube leads only back into the world which created it. If you have any sensitivity at all, this film will remind you of all the ways in which our world seems brutal and pointless. More like a violent version of Sartre's "No Exit" than a thriller.
Rating: Summary: VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BBBBAAAADDDD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This movie seemed promising when I first started watching it, but it just got worse and worse. But my real concern is that that the collage girl died because without her no one could have found the exit or what seemed like an exit. Also some people think that the disabled guy got out, but I don't think he did, it just didn't seem like he lived. Anyway, for those who read this, take my advice and don't see this movie. But is you're killed with curiosity go head.(You might like it. Who knows? I don't.)
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This movie was one of the most tense movies I have ever seen. I loved the fact that the questions weren't answered. The whole point was that there was no point. And what Worth said was outside the Cube was great and so true (you're going to have see the movie to find out what it is). This movie was wonderfully disturbing. One of few science fiction movies to have some thought behind them.
Rating: Summary: Original but no eye for detail Review: Very original movie, but there's a lack of detail. A lot of questions remain unanswered, where they should be answered. For instance, why are the people in the CUBE and who put them there? To be short: Cool effects, medium acting, great setting, not so well thought over.
Rating: Summary: Well thought out dialog... Review: What was interesting about "The Cube" was how many intended or un-intended alegories that existed in this moview, such as:1)Does the cube represent the state of society and how we react to it? 2)Does the environment in the cube represent a future that can bring out the best and worst in people? 3) Does only the truly innocent survive? Are they the only ones to "Make it to the light?" Could this possibly be a reference to the afterlife? 4) In the future (or present) do we have to rely on others to survive in our environment? How important is the perception to find the strengths and weaknesses in others? 5) How important is teamwork without selfish motivations? 6) It is never explained how they arrived in the cube. Is this a reference to being born? 7) Is apathy the biggest danger of the future (and present)? Do we ignore the big picture and only worry about our part in the world especially if we benefit? Someone is funding the power and maintenance of "The Cube," but who? Is it just a group of people that have to use it to maintain their funding, but have no idea about the overall purpose of the device?
