Rating: Summary: 13yr old girl Review: This movie is very strange. It is filmed the whole time in the same decor, and you get a bit sick of it (so did the people inside!). A cop, a criminel, a docter, a student girl who's good at maths, an office guy and a mongol. Who will get out - who will die? This movie is different to others, but I must say there isn't one movie in the whole world that could frighten me. Not even this one. It shows how crual people can be when it gets to life or death situations. You could say the mongol was the only sain person in the whole thing. The dissapointing part of the movie is that it does not reveal you what that cube actually is. I think we wouldn't be able to understand anyway.
Rating: Summary: So much tension in such a small box... Review: From the stomach turning opening scenes, to the closing credits, this film kept me on the edge of my seat.Who would survive? Would they get out? Would they kill each other? The tension kept on building, until the end. Did they all survive? I'm not telling, you'll just have to see this film for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Good premise and plot, acting and script need work Review: The major flaws of "Cube" are the acting and the script. Most of the actors are, at points, overacting the melodramatic script. Some of the lines are rather trite as well (e.g., "He's endangering the pack!"). However, the plot to the movie is quite interesting, and the tense atmosphere holds the viewer's interest well. The concept is intriguing with an air of paranoia. If you can overlook the problems, "Cube" is a pretty cool movie.
Rating: Summary: Great potential but ultimately unsatisfying Review: Cube had the capability to be one of the great sci-fi thinkers of the 90's, but about halfway through the movie I got the feeling that the writers came under a deadline. Starting from a tense examination of every room, it quickly moves into a rush of motion. This coupled with an ending that has a feel of "it was late and I was tired", makes this movie nothing more than a "good watch", but with the potential to be so much more.
Rating: Summary: The cube, a very well done horror in the tradition of pi Review: In the mathematics tradition of the great "pi", cube proves that independent movies consistently prove to be the most original and inovative movies of today. A fascinating beginning as well as an equally haunting ending will leave the viewer thinking twice about sleeping with the light off. Those squeemish and easily disturbed my find "the cube" too frightning, but to those who enjoyed "pi", this movie will expand your imagination and show what independently made films are all about. The one downside to this film is that frequently the acting goes downhill, so much so that realism is lost. Overall, a frightiningly, obscure, hell of a film.
Rating: Summary: Something refreshing and original. Review: It's good to see creativity such as this still exists from filmmakers, while flooded by the typical fluff and eye candy Hollywood has been feeding us. This film proves that good story telling is not dead in film. This is one of the most eerie thrillers I've seen in quite a while. If you liked Seven, Usual Suspects, or any good Twilight Zone story, you'll love the way the story unfolds here as well. Why ask, what's the matrix when you can ask, what's Cube? Do yourself a favor, find out.
Rating: Summary: Nice premise - poor execution Review: My mother wanted me to see the opening scene to CUBE. I watched it- and it sucked me into the film. I had to know what would happen next. The premise to the film may not be original, but it sure is creepy, thinking over, it's really really creepy. However, after a certain character dies, things go down hill. Nothing,*nothing*, is ever explained. The only explanation we have of the CUBE is so "dumb" that it's ludicrous and kills the plot. And the ending- oh god what a cop-out ending. Person B: "..." Person A: "Ahhh!" Me: *Groan* It's one of those endings you hope wont come up- but damnit, you know it's gonna be there sooner or later because this is a low budget film. One of those final cuts thrown in for noting more than shock value. Reminds me of evrery dumb horror film I've seen. Also, the breakdowns are completely unbelievable. Suddenly people become quasi-pedophiles and try to get it on in a giant cube? Who thought that up? All in all, there is some decent suspense and the story is pretty good w/ some cool FX. But CUBE is not as good as it should have been. See it, but don't see it too seriously.
Rating: Summary: Good things come in small packages Review: This is the only film I have actually sat down and watched without doing something else at the same time since The Elephant Man. No big actors, no big special effects, no car chases...but just try looking away from the screen for even a second. This is a tremendous film, a study of human psychology with philosophical overtones. This film is not just about being stuck in a dangerous labyrinthian cube, but about how this situation affects different people, how they act and react in it, and how the ultimate meaning of why they are there influences them. Unquestionably, this is one of those rare movies that stays with the viewer long after having been experienced.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT SCFI HORROR MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: THIS MOVIE IS A GREAT SCFI HORROR MOVIE THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE IS GREAT AND IT KEEPS YOU WONDERING.
