Review: I saw a clockwork orange the movie first after being sucked into what everyone was saying about it being "a masterpeice" & "a classic" it is, but the movie tends to drag on. It being a long movie I'd often pause the movie because I would get tired of watching it. It's very hard for me to sit through not because it's too dramatic, but it doesn't suck me in. If anything I would recommend the book because of the fact that in the newer versions that they've been printing out it has the final chapter that America never got in the beginning which ends it better then "and i was cured alright" in a more actual human way, I wouldn't recommened the movie over the book but it still is a good movie to see if you're horribly interested

Summary: The BEST film of 1971, and one of the best of the decade.
Review: Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of "A Clockwork Orange" is an intriguing look at a very corrupt and violent future. The violence has been deemed innappropriate but is absolutely neccessary to tell the story. The story is that of a future where teenagers roam the streets commiting violent acts. However, this is under a government which seems to be a totalitarian one. Alex Delarge, the main character, becomes imprisoned for murder, then becomes the first person to be remade into the perfect law abiding citizen. This is the moral dillema which Kubrick creates brilliantly. Although Alex's choices in real life are haineous, he still has the choice to make them. When the government takes this away from him he becomes sick and depressed, and, finally used by both sides for and against it the treatment. The film is one that can create many different opinions and debates but it is clearly an original, unique, and brilliant film that should have an influence for quite some time.

Summary: I'm glad I saw it, but I don't care to see it again.
Review: This wasn't too scary for me or anything like that. I thought it was entertaining when the limey Brits were raping and killing people.

I know this is a classic, but jeez does this movie drag. They could've cut an hour from this thing without making it any less art. Also, I wasn't really moved by whatever social commentary the movie was trying to make. It just seemed like another vague, generic anti-authoritarian message. They definitely did a good job of making the movie seem depressing and bleak, but the movie takes place in England, where it's always depressing.

Yeah! Take that, ENGLAND! I really knocked you down a peg.

Summary: Only for the open minded
Review: Someone mentioned A Clockwork Orange is rather Orwellian and I tend to agree. It's a metaphorical, abstract movie in many ways. (I have not read the book). I can't truly tell if it has much depth in its undertones because they are clouded and inconsistent, unlike Orwell's 1984.

What I got from this movie after seeing it, was that violence is bad, you reap what you sow. I don't particularly care for much of the buzz people surround with such films/books as this because in the case of A Clockwork Orange, it's quite over-rated.

Stanley Kubrick may be a great director, and while I admit he did a good job of de-glorifying the violence, and that in some (only some) parts music was used well, I do not agree that this is a brilliant movie. It was mostly nonsensical and led nowhere. There wasn't much violence in it really, but if rape fascinates you, then I supposed parts of this movie will tickle your pickle.

I did like Malcolm's acting. His commentary is amusing, his narration pulls you into his mind where he is not quite all there. Whether you like him or dislike him is your own opinion, but Malcolm's acting conveyed a sense of malice, cleverness, evil, and humour and blended it all together masterfully. I can't say much for the other 'actors' in the movie, especially the wheel-chair bound man who I found very irritating to watch and spoilt much of the movie.

I give it 3 stars mainly for Malcolm's acting, and the fact that the movie explores some niche topics such as rape and social conditioning. Overall, not very entertaining, but if so-called 'critically acclaimed classics' such as this draw you in, then try it out.

Summary: you have to see this
Review: If you haven't read the book, this movie is probably greeat. but if you have read the book youre setting yourself up for a dissapointment. It totally misses the message of the story and focuses on the rape aspect so much more than the violence which is much more important. Basically, this movie pales in comparison to the book. Kubrick made some major mistakes but his vision of the way everything looks is inspiring. i would suggest this movie to those of you who havent read it. It is a movie you need to see either way.

Review: Kubrick's Best Film what he did with this movie is unbelivable. Malcom Mcdowell(Alex) delievers a knockout perfromance he makes it look so real. I cant even explain how great this movie is you have to see it fo yourself.

Summary: Ahhhh! the glory of violence
Review: Should we have free will or peace and order? The Brothers Karamazov deals briefly with this, as does that new movie Equilibrium (though it is horrible) But perhaps this movie does it best. Alex is a very interesting character. Can't talk about the DVD im speaking only about the movie but this is one of those rare examples where it does exceed the beuty of the book.
