Summary: Outstanding idea!
Review: The movie takes the thought of "what will I do on my last day alive" one step forward, and displays it in a very pleasent and funny way.

Summary: A True Original
Review: Hollywood is so wedded to 'formula' plots that a truly original story like this is a welcome change. Not only is the plot great, but it is a very romantic tale as well about an egocentric man who learns about true happiness.

Summary: Existential Primer
Review: Wow. I came here to gush about this film but I see others have beaten me to the punch. Oh, what the heck...Brilliant film in a subtle, understated way. It works as a comedy, as a romance, and, most importantly, as a life lesson. In fact this film could serve as a light hearted but effective primer for existential philosophy. Note Bill Murry's character development in the film: He starts off his existential quest completely self serving seeking out physical gratification (don't we all). Then, when faced with the meaningless repetition of each of his 'days', he despairs. Only later when he comes to accept and even embrace the repetition of each Groundhog's Day does he find his salvation. For more reading on this theme check out Albert Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus and The Stranger.

Summary: Frantic, Romantic Comedy - a must !!
Review: I thought that Groundhog Day was a very original film - so if you are looking for originality, this is the one.

As far as humour is concerned, Bill Murray is perfect for the role, being a "Pre-Madonna" weatherman who is too in love with himself to see that he is in a "dead end" job going no-where, and everyone hates him.

The Film is, in many ways, like the clasical shakesphere idea where the main character suffers the pain of self realisation before he evolves or develops from bad into good, evil into angelic - take King Lear for an example.

Going to the Annual Groundhog festival in Bill Murrays case began a long process of ultimate salvation. He loathes this day with a passion due to his egotistic and selfish personality, and the very idea of him presenting an open air weather forcast, orchestrated not by himself but by a Groundhog (due to annual tradition, if the groundhog sees a shadow then the area is supposed to have 5 more weeks of winter, if the groundhog sees no shadow, spring sets it), is enough to make him curl up and die. If this isn't bad enough for Bill, he wakes up at 6:00am the following morning to the horrific realisation that he is "reliving the same day over and over and over again".

Each day brings about some sort of change within his character, and Bill evolves into quite an interesting character by the time the film is through. The mere thought of re-living the same day again and again goes through many people's minds, and the writer of this film didn't fail to amuse on this popular fantasy

Watch it and see how funny yet touchingly romantic and sermon like the storyline manages to be. Excelent choice for those of you who like comedy !

Summary: Murray at his finest
Review: This movie allows Murray to do what he does best - improvise. A lot of his dialogue was on the spot, which is why it's so funny. And it's got that classic Murray subtleness which is great. Definately a classic.

Summary: My favorite movie of all time
Review: An increadible movie with tons of catch phrases like, "What if there is no tomorrow; there wasn't one today." Very witty comedy.

Summary: Awakening to the Fourth Way
Review: Bhikkus, awaken to the redundancy that is your life. This movie challenges you to break out of the negative sleep that you live your lives in. Yes this movie is funny, but do you know what it means? Check out The Fourth Way schools, Gurdjieff,Ouspensky, etc. It will change your life.

Summary: The weirdest movie ever...
Review: When I saw this movie for the first time, it was 2 o'clock in the morning. You can't imagine in what weird state of mind I got out of the cinema! At the one hand it should be nice to have the opportunity to do a day again, but if it's the same day all over, again and again, you have to be a little more creative. That's exactly what the writers had in mind, because he (Bill Murray) changes his view on that same day several times. It's a terribly unique idea to make a movie with that thought!

Summary: MURRAY IS STILL HILARIOUS!
Review: I saw this movie when it first came out on video and couldn't stop watching it. I think my total count has come to over 15 times! This is a really good movie to watch for Groundhog Day, don't miss it.
