Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: Adam Sandler at his best in this flick. More adult oriented humor but the whole family can enjoy. After watching this movie, a person will have a different view of golf. Golf, with a bit of imagination, can be turned into something funny and outrageous.
Rating: Summary: Adam Sandler is a comic God! Review: He has done it again with Happy Gilmore. Another movie where the underdog wins, happy ending. Adam play a wanna-be hockey player, who turns to golf when he learns he can win big money to save his beloved grandmothers house from reposession. Along the way he gets run over on a golf course, gets in a fight with Bob Barker (the Price is Right host), and of course, gets the girl. One of many funny things in this movie are the brief cameos by golf legend Lee Trevino. I love this movie, I watch it often and recommend it to everyone I can. Your Adam Sandler collection is not complete unless you buy Happy Gilmore!
Rating: Summary: Sandler's best film. Review: The only Sandler movie that comes close to this one is THE WEDDING SINGER. This movie is brilliant...mainly due to the premise: a wannabee hockey player (Sandler) ends up being a golfer. He's out on the links, still with his hockey player attitude. Hilarious! It was some of the little things that made this great: his grandma dressing up as Gene Simmons to comfort him when he's a little kid, Ben Stiller's bit part as an attendant in an old folks home, Lee Trevino's appearances here and there. It was great! There were two casting decisions in this movie that were just brilliant. The first is Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, the villain. He does such a good job...you just loved to hate him. His antics had me rolling on the floor. Probably one of the best movie villains of all time! The other was Carl Weathers at Chubbs, the local golf pro. I won't ruin it for those of you who haven't seen it, but the reason he isn't on the pro tour himself is hilarious! Can you picture this big bodybuilder guy dressed as a golfer and out on the links? Brilliant! Bob Barker makes an appearance as himself in the movie and the intereactions between him and Happy are just brilliantly done. I don't think there's one thing about this movie that I'd change. It was all funny! If you're in the mood for a really good laugh, this is the movie to watch!
Rating: Summary: Quality entertainment for the Sandler fan Review: Either you love or hate Adam Sandler's work. It is difficult to find a middle ground. Fans of Sandler's shtick should thoroughly enjoy his antics in "Happy Gilmore". But those who consider the comedian's work as childish are advised to stay away. In "Happy Gilmore", Sandler tops his performance in his first major role as the title character in "Billy Madison". A lot of the humor in "Happy Gilmore" stems from Sandler's unique approach to the respected traditions of the game of golf. The result is a successful comedy that has wide appeal and plenty of quotable lines. The DVD is a nice addition to any collection of an Adam Sandler fan. As one of the actor's most enjoyable comedy films, "Happy Gilmore" is one to own. Although original aspect ratio enthusiasts will be disappointed with the exclusion of a widescreen version, the video transfer of this quality is adequate. And although "Happy Gilmore" isn't exactly a movie one buys for its technical expertise, both viewing formats would have been a nice choice by Universal. As for extras, the "Happy Gilmore" DVD contains some detailed production notes (which were actually interesting), cast bios and credits, and the original theatrical trailer (in widescreen).
Rating: Summary: Loved it Review: I love this movie to death. I couldn't stop laughing. Ben Stiller was funny too, you can always count on him. I couldn't even stand Shooter, he was just so full of himself. He thought he was going to take the gold jacket anyway, he thought wrong. I would have liked to have seen that fight. It was such a relief Grandma got her house back, Because who knows her fingers could have started to hurt too, then would be pulling landscaping duty with the other one as well. lol
Rating: Summary: Sandler Knows Absolutely Nothing About Sports Or Comedy Review: Before the abominable "The Waterboy" there was another Adam Sandler movie that dabbled into the sporting world in search of a few good laughs. That was "Happy Gilmore" a movie about a not so happy person who is not so good at hockey but can drive a golf ball 400 yards. The plot is a typical simplistic suspend all brain activity Sandler derived plot that includes Sandler having to get good at golf fast enough(since he can't skate) to make enough money to stop the IRS from repossessing his grandmother's house. As a fan of sports it is hard for me to swallow all that is "Happy Gilmore" without questioning the content. You either suspend all belief and let Adam Sandler do his thing on the golf course or as I did I just wondered when this (I am Adam Sandler! )watch me drive the ball deep and act like an idiot ego booster to end. The romance in this movie was moldy cheese at best. I laughed at this movie, not with it.
Rating: Summary: I don't think your lungs can handle this kind of laughter... Review: You're looking for a comedy on DVD. Let's see... You don't want any comedy that's too sophisticated, like "Deconstructing Harry". You don't want any comedy that's too insane, like "There's Something About Mary". You JUST want to laugh. I'm proud to say "Happy Gilmore" will make you scream with laughter, my friend. This is Adam Sandler's platinum hit, the best comedy of his career. It has the coveted Amazon.com five-star customer rating, a rare find indeed for the comedy lover, and reviewers call it "the best golf comedy since 'Caddyshack'". The movie stars Adam Sandler (Bulletproof, The Wedding Singer, Billy Madison) as Happy Gilmore, a short-fused hockey player who just realized he AGAIN didn't make the cut for his hockey team for the 10th time in a row. After taking out his raging anger on the coach, he life begins to spiral downwards when his girlfriend leaves him, and he realizes his grandmother's prized house built by his grandfather's bare hands if about to be seized by the IRS in 90 days due to her failure to pay taxes in over a decade. But when he discovers his monster hockey slapshot equals one hell of a talent in golf, he is talked into playing golf by a local retired golfer, Chubbs Peterson, for the money to reclaim his grandma's house. But not only is Happy not ready for golf, but the president of the Pro Tour, Doug Thompson, doesn't think golf is ready for Happy! Even his future golf enemy, Shooter McGavin, thinks he's making a mockery of golf with his very bad temper and his rambunctious behavior. But Happy is a hit with fans, so he's weaved himself through the loophole...for now. For a shining moment he's riding on Cloud 9-iron, but Shooter McGavin, and the accidental death of his beloved mentor Chubbs, are threatening to take away not only his grandmother's house, but his dream as well, and it's not just about his grandma's house anymore...it's about triumph. So, if you love simple comedy, get Happy Gilmore on DVD. You'll fall down laughing....guaranteed!
Rating: Summary: Ýou should see this movie more than once! Review: The first time I saw this movie I thought it was ridiculous, not funny and sometimes loathing. The second time I saw it (in cable) I laughed my heart out! I began to understand what this guy (sandler) was upto. Brainless, lousy performances, ridiculous but Histerical movie. You know what I mean... I liked it. Sandler rules!
Rating: Summary: Adams' best work! Review: This was the first Adam Sandler movie i saw and i couldnt stop laughing. This is diffinitly one of my favorite movies and you should buy it!
Rating: Summary: Adam's Funniest Review: The first Adam Sandler movie I saw was Billy Madison. Then I saw The Waterboy. Both were really funny and really good movies. Then I saw this movie. It is funnier then both of them. The acting was incredible. The plot is incredible. The humor is incredible. Adam Sandler is a great comedian. He started out in the early 90s on Saturday Night Live. Now he's doing movies. I think his movies are much more hilarious then his cds. This movie shows that. It is a great album with great acting, a great plot, hilarious humor, and great directing. If you want a movie to buy, buy this one. It's awesome, you won't regret it. Trust me.
