Rating: Summary: 4 STARS Review: Salma and Matthew deffinatelly make a perfect couple. Or maybe not so perfect. He, talented and educated from New York, meets her, the Mexican beauty full of love to give and passion she holds of her country. After a one night stand, turns into her falling pregnant, they irrationally decide to get married and move in together. Without realising their cultural differences affect their 'love'. Will their marriage work? This movie is filled with laughs, humor and romance. Myself being from a different culture I know how hard it can be in relationships. I give it 4 stars...

Rating: Summary: Feel-Good Romance With a Sensual Salma Hayek Review: This is not a movie that I would watch multiple times but for one scene: the final wedding ceremony in the desert at the rhythm of "Can't Help Loving You" by Elvis. It is only one minute, but it is incredibly sweet and romantic.Another positive aspect of the movie is Salma Hayek's physical presence. I agree one hundred percent with that movie critic who wrote that she has the face of an angel and a body to kill for. She is at the same time sensual and sweet, a really devastating combination... As for the rest of the movie, it was enjoynable, but not exceptional. Yes, the actors had grat chemistry and were both really good, but it's their characters tht I could not like that much, especially Alex. He is too modernly confused a man for me to like him. He still acts and behaves like a boy. He is galaxies away from the William Wallace of "Braveheart," or even the cocky Doug Dorsey of "The Cutting Edge." As for Isabel, she was more mature and also really sweet, but her stress on her catholic heritage turned me off... (come on, signs everywhere?) Anyways, a positive message from the movie is that a marriage is a serious commitment based on love, care and understanding, and not something to be taken lightly a là Las Vegas wedding chapels. But let us not forget that a marriage is also about romance, and that final kiss at the wedding with the song of Elvis in the background really made me smile for a day.
Rating: Summary: Very funny. Review: If you like "Friends", I am pretty sure you will like this movie. It is funny and full of charms. Salma Hayek is hot. The DVD is OK with good picture quality. The Dolby 5.1 does not have much to offer as most of the movie is funny dialogue anyway. Get this DVD, definetely a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Great Story Review: This is one of my alltime favorite movies. I'm not sure what movie most of the critics saw, but I believe that Roger Ebert gave a fair, objective review that was right on the money. As a WASP from the East who met and married a Hispanic Catholic from the West - also under difficult and challenging circumstances - this movie really hit home. Although exaggerated at times, many of the cultural differences inherit in such a relationship were accurately depicted. Although I am usually a fan of war/action movies like Saving Private Ryan and Braveheart, I recommend this romantic comedy to anyone who likes the genre, loves the American West (great scenery), or who found love in an unexpected place.
Rating: Summary: Lovely Romance Review: I really liked this film from the word go. Alex and Isabel meet by chance and have a one night stand. Isabel leaves before Alex wakes up and he doesn't see her again until she turns up on his doorstep and tells him she's pregnant. Although she doesn't want help, Alex eventually proposes and they get married, falling in love along the way. The course of true love however, never runs smooth and they hit some hefty bumps during their marriage. They both come from very different backgrounds - him from Anglo and her from Mexican stock and this also provides good friction between both the characters and their relatives who all seem to want a say in how and where they should live. This probably sounds like a very dramatic film and in places it is. But, there's also alot of outright laughs coupled with a more gentle humour that stops it all being too intense. Great piece of acting from Selma Hayek as the lovely Isabel who has a charming innocence and simplicity about what she wants from life. You really feel what she goes through. And Matthew Perry is excellent as Alex who's life is practically ruled by his work to the point where it almost ruins everything. His comic touches are their usual high standard and his dramatic scene's are wonderfully touching. If you look past the comedy, you'll notice what a great actor he really is. Both actors are fantastic together and the film has a lot of heart that takes the viewer on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Definitely one to watch again and again, and look out for the part where Isabel takes Alex to meet her parents and entire family for dinner and he meets the ex-boyfriend - it's one of the quickest, funniest lines I've heard in a long time.
Rating: Summary: Just okay Review: Everyone involved does a competent job. The result is pleasant but nothing special.
Rating: Summary: !A Man, A Woman And A Chihuahua. Ay caramba! Review: After seeing "Fools Rush In", I definitely feel the above caption would make for a better title. But, nonetheless, this is one of those romantic love stories with a touch of comedy and a whole lot of drama, like a soap opera, but only better. The plot centers around a consultant of an architectural firm, Alex (Matthew Perry), who, by fate, meets a single Mexican woman named Isabel (Salma Hayek). After spending the night together, Isabel becomes pregnant with Alex's child, but is quite shocked about the news at first, and isn't sure whether or not she wants to continue their relationship. As time progresses, the couple get to know each other better and Isabel introduces Alex to her family, the Fuenteses (including an angry chihuahua named Che, who, at first, displays an intense dislike for Alex, but softens up to him later), and, likewise, Isabel later meets Alex's parents. At first, their parents don't agree with the idea of Alex and Isabel going steady, because of the cultural differences of both families. But what the heck, it all makes for a very interesting, and rather potent, love story. In fact, it is a love story (as mentioned above)! Rather than saying anything further, I suggest you pick up a copy of "Fools Rush In". The chihuahua alone is worth the price of this movie! Approved by the SPCA/American Humane Society and Lover's Anonymous."
Rating: Summary: Desert flavor and so romantic! Review: If you mix comedy, drama and love with two great actors and a perfect script, what you end up with is a memorable movie. This is a beautiful story, which starts off wrong. Alex Whitman (Matthew Perry) and Isabel Fuentes (Salma Hayek) are destined to meet and when they do, things go in a direction they never imagined. Isabel brings the drama to this movie. Alex brings the comedy. Their families from different cultures bring in a touch of conflict. The expectations of each family are so typical and set in motion a number of unexpected twists and turns to the plot. The music in this movie does deserve its own soundtrack. I have looked for it. Even after watching this movie for the third time, I still want a CD. The music sets the mood for the whole movie. The setting at the Hoover Dam is also spectacular as are many of the outdoor scenes in the desert. Salma Hayek is at her best in this movie, as is Mathew Perry. There is such great chemistry. The signs all definitely point towards them being together. Unfortunately, they both have to deal with relationships they had in the past, annoying relatives and Alex's controlling boss. This movie shows how love can conquer any situation and cross all barriers. Each time you watch this movie it will affect you differently. When you see Alex holding a baby and Isabel looking across the room at him, you can't help but become Isabel for that brief instant. Alex says so many of the right things, any woman would want to hear. Then, Alex also makes the mistake of not telling Isabel pertinent details which will affect her life, and that is the basis for most of the conflicts. Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek were the best actors for this movie! It is so romantic, you will want to watch it once every few years. Absolutely a worthwhile investment to purchase the video or DVD. Now, if anyone can find a soundtrack CD, let us all know!!!
