Summary: The farrelly brothers best
Review: Ok, the acting might not be top class, but the story line, for a farrelly brothers movie, is actually quite complex, and there is more than meets the eye first time. The addition to the movie of the three genius/richard pryor sons was a brilliant idea, however the acting of practically all the cops (apart from charlie) is very mediocre. There's no doubting that this is a funny film, but not the best comedy i've seen.

Summary: Laugh? I nearly did.
Review: At last I have found it. The worst movie of all time! Jim Carrey ably demonstrates that even a great comic actor can't redeem a miserable, boring, formulaic, hackneyed, unfunny script. This film is a kind of undead 'Kingpin'. I like puerile humour as much as the next jock, but whereas 'Kingpin' had some funny moments and some fine acting, 'Me, Myself and Irene' should never have been allowed to see the light of day.

On the other hand, I notice that some reviewers have given it four stars. So I guess I have to leave you to judge for yourself. If you find swearing and pulling faces funny, and are prepared to sit through more than two hours of it, then this might just be for you. Enjoy, although you might have more fun if you pulled the faces yourself in front of a mirror.

Summary: Sophmoric humor that can't deliver
Review: This movie is, in a word, pathetic. It is not funny. The acting is bad and there is absolutely no plot. While the premise of over-the-top humor seems right up Jim Carrey's alley, he couldn't even pull this one off. Carrey has been in some stupid movies (like Ace Ventura) but managed to invoke humor with his physical style of comedy, which made the movie entertaining at least. Renee Zellwiger is NOT a comedic actress and her performance is downright annoying. Although frankly, I can't think of anyone who could make this movie better. The Farrelly brothers have obviously got some issues if they think this movie would appeal to anyone over the age of 12. Beavis and Butt-head are more entertainment than this. This movie relies on gross-out humor to compensate for its ridiculously non-existant plot. Dont buy...in fact, I wouldn't even recommend that you rent it!

Summary: The biggest problem with this movie is that it's NOT FUNNY!
Review: Ok, the bathroom scene had me rolling, but other than that, it's 13-year-old-boy humor. I thought Dumb and Dumber was absolutely hilarious, Kingpin was ok, Something about Mary was completely disgusting, crude and just a complete waste of time. Mostly I just thought this film wasn't funny. I guess I didn't "get it". Why are fat geniouses who swear a lot funny? I don't understand. The "mother's milk" scene was more arousing than funny... I didn't think "hank" was funny, just extremely lewd. I can't repeat the things he said because my post would be deleted. The plot is a jumbled mess. Anyone who doubts that can explain what Dickey was doing with the golf course. What was going on? It is never explained. Ren and Stimpy is funny, Itchy and Scratchy is funny, this is just stupid. The Farrely brothers are a very warped couple of guys who obviously have issues with women... Maybe men who actually do this, or women who think all men are like that will find this film funny, I just felt embarrassed for Jim Carry and Renee Zellwegger.

Summary: THE FUNNIEST JIM CARREY MOVIE EVER!!!
Review: Up until this movie, "Dumb and Dumber" was my favorite Jim Carrey movie, so I was very surprised that I liked this even more! I can still remember watching this in theaters with my friends (some of whom aren't even Jim Carrey fans) and just laughing hysterically every two minutes! We were cracking up well after the movie was over, and we all agreed that this was the best comedy to come along in years. The Farrelly brothers keep their trademark brand of humor coming stronger than ever in this flick and Jim Carrey is completely likable as both Charlie and Hank. This is one of the key elements that make this a great movie, because Carrey has a tendency of being annoying in some movies by going too far over the top, like "Ace Ventura." This time, though, he has wonderful chemistry with Renee Zellweger and especially his three orphaned black sons. These three guys made the movie and I guarantee you'll be on the floor laughing everytime they appear on the screen. In fact, I think they are the reason that this movie works as well as it does. If you've seen the movie, then you know what I'm talking about...if you haven't, then buy it and find out! I just bought the DVD and it is great! The commentary by the Farrelly brothers is very insightful, as they point out their strengths with filming and their weaknesses. The deleted scenes are are funny to watch, and it's interesting to hear the directors talk about why they were cut. There are plenty of other behind-the-scenes extras that kept me glued to my TV for hours. This is a fitting DVD for a "don't miss" movie like this! Trust me, it's well worth the investment for fans of cutting-edge comedies!

Summary: Shannon Whirry Is Awesome
Review: Erotic film star Shannon Whirry has a bit part as the beautiful mother. As Charlie (aka Jim Carey) begins his no-holds-barred attitude, he approaches Shannon as she breast feeds her child while sitting on a park bench. Unabashedly, Carey removes the child and he begins to feed off the ampley endowed Miss Whirrry. It' amazing how Carey almost swallows Shannon Whirry!

Summary: Three stars isn't quite enough for this movie
Review: If you actually enjoy movies for the sake of fun and entertainment, watch this movie. Don't go into it expecting "Kingpin" or "Something about Mary," they're different movies, and all are fantastic for completely different reasons. Jim Carrey is (as always) a genius, and the entire supporting cast backs him up perfectly. It's pretty rare that we get the chance to laugh about schizophrenia, so take it for what it's worth. You will find no real social commentary, nor any true redeeming value to this movie, what you will find is a fun movie with some of the funniest characters you'll ever see.

Summary: DON'T JUDGE A MOVIE BY IT'S CRITICS...
Review: First of all, the DVD is great. Second of all, don't take negative opinions towards this movie to heart. Yes, critics did have a hayday with this one. But did you honestly believe that well known critics such as Roger Ebert (example)would truely give their stamp of approval 2 Farrelly Bros. films in a row? Mr. Ebert gave a 2 star review on Dumb & Dumber, the movie that started it all and in my opinion is still funnier than There's Something About Mary. Don't let critics influence you that strongly, for 'Irene' is the same taste in humor as 'Mary'. Gross out comedy has no doubt hit the big time, but the funny thing is this. You went to 'Dumb'and liked what you saw. You heard 'Kingpin' was from the creators of 'Dumb', returned to the theaters with the same result...you liked what you saw. You had to have liked both, everyone (yes everyone...you!) went nuts for 'Mary'. 'Mary' is only considered #1 out of the 4 Farrelly movies because critics saw something in it. The word got around, spread like wildfire. But comparing all four is pointless. It's the gross out humor you went for. That and JIM CARREY of course. And hey, it still did the trick for me. Is the plot weak? A little, but how many comedies can you name that have very strong plots? Are the jokes rehashed garbage? Not at all. This stuff is pretty fresh, not the run of the mill. Is the movie offensive? OH YEAH, the language is quite poor. But probably only a 1/4 as bad as the South Park movie's. The main character has a split personality disorder and must had been right on the nose for many people who suffer from this atrocity actually tried having the flim banned. Let's face the facts...shocking sells. Is the acting good? UH...YEAH. It's JIM CARREY for crying out loud, and he's back to basics. As for the rest of the cast, maybe not that great. But with JIM there, it isn't that noticable. I give this comedy 3 stars (out of 4)& it's DVD a solid 4 stars (out of 5). With a full feature commentary by the Farrellys, a music video ("BREAKOUT!"), atleast 15 hilarious deleted scenes, and plenty more, I strongly recommend this one for the whole gross out fanatic community. First of all, rent it to make YOUR decision solid. Secondly, if you have the other 3 Farrelly movies or a JIM CARREY collection, what are you reading this for? Lastly, gross out humor is at the top of it's game these days. This is just more fuel for the fire.

Summary: Not enough laughs to carry this awful movie!
Review: When I saw the previews of this movie, I couldn't wait to go see it. It looked like it was going to be one of the funniest movies to hit the big screen. When I was walking out of the theater, after finally seeing it, I realized that the preview was so funny because they used ALL the funniest parts of the movie to make it! It's strange; I never laughed so hard watching a movie that I truly didn't like. But...I figured that I had to give some of the gags another chance, maybe some of them went over my head, maybe I was distracted or somehow I missed something. I had that same problem with "Dumb & Dumber", and after watching it for a few times, I really liked the movie...Allot! So I borrowed the movie from a friend of mine and sat down to give it a second chance and the next day I gave it a third chance. I have to admit, after the third time I was able to enjoy it more then when I saw it for the first time in the theater. That being said, I still think it's a really bad movie with some hysterical gags sprinkled through out the flick. The story goes like this; Charlie Baileygates (played by Jim Carrey) is a cop for the Rhode Island state police, a real nice guy and gets absolutely no respect from anyone. He becomes the laughing stock when his wife bares the illegitimate children of a man who's a genius, black and a midget. Then she decides she wants to be with her lover permanently and without the 3 kids. After years of being disrespected, laughed at and ridiculed by just about everyone he knows, he has a mental break down, develops a split personality, Hank, which is the total opposite of Charlie. Hank is a nasty, rude, aggressive, ...kind of guy. This is unfortunate for Charlie since he's the one who bares the repercussions of Hanks actions. The movie seems like it had the potential to be something great, but just never got there. Unlike Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura, this movie falls short because there's not enough comedy to compensate for a sub-par movie. Whereas "Ace Ventura", had enough "potentially funny" gags to let Jim's brilliant comedic performance turn them into hysterical gags that carried the movie. Also, Jim Carrey is starting to become another Robin Williams, where as he's the same character in every movie he does (regardless of the story or plot). What I found to be a plus was the quality of the DVD. The THX certified disc sounded very good (unlike the way it did in the theater where I first saw it), with the dialogue holding firm and at the right moments, the sub and surrounds kicking in to really accent the scene. This might even be one of the mitigating factors that actually help me enjoy the movie more. My final verdict is; this is strictly one to rent!!!! If you are looking for a movie that was able to accomplish what this one couldn't (and you don't own it yet) buy Dumb & Dumber!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great movie!!!
Review: This movie is so funny. Jim Carrey is not one of my favorite actors. But he was outstanding in this movie. The only complaint I have with the movie was the language. This movie is definately not for kids. But overall the movie was great.
