Summary: Great movie--Terrible video transfer!
Review: This, hands down, is the worst transfer to video I've ever seen. I have a Progressive scan DVD player with Monster component cables hooked up to a Sony HDTV and the transfer of this video is worse than watching it on my ten year old VCR. What a shame for a thoroughly enjoyable film.

Summary: One of my all time favorites
Review: Maybe it is just that time of year but this is one of my favorite movies. The characters are realistic and the plot is well laid out. The casting was great with quite a few great actors and actresses. If you are a West Wing fan you might get a little confused about who is the President at first but I'm sure you will figure it out. I would highly recommend this movie even if you aren't into politics. It is an all around great flick.

Summary: I love this movie
Review: Ok, so maybe I'm a little biased. The American President is my favorite movie. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a political situation that is eerily similar to the one depicted in this movie. The right-wing character in this movie bears a great deal of resemblance to a prominent real-life American politician. Guess who? Aside from the political storyline, this is just a fun movie. It's got a love story, it's got humor. It's got everything that a good comedy needs. You'll especially like it if you're interested in politics and are concerned by current trends in politics to manipulate people into voting for them based on fear. This would make a great Christmas gift for those who are currently disillusioned by the recent election.

Summary: Great movie, so-so DVD
Review: One of my favorite movies. 100% feel-good (if your politics don't get in the way).

However, the 2.35:1 letterbox format plays poorly on 16:9 screens. It only uses about half of my 60" screen and looks like less than that.
