Review: What a great film. For those with the eyes to see this film is so much more than just a erotic story. At its heart it is about healing and sensual liberation for all. As the parson and his inhibited wife arrive at the estate of the "Sirens" where they have come to protest the sexual conotations of the painter's religous art, they encounter and experience a series of events which eventually leads to their greater and mutual wholeness. The artist is like a orchestrater who directs and ultimately enables the sexual awakening of the parson's wife as well as the parsons own liberation. At times it is like they have trully found themselves in a place of myth, and not the "real" world. Archtypes abound...the painter, the Sirens, the dogman..etc. It is a sensual and lighthearted film. Those who think it is just about a women shedding her inhibitions and cheating on her husband miss the underlying point of the story. It is about wholeness and the essential integration of the spiritual and sexual.
