Summary: What a beautiful film. It gets me every time.
Review: I rarely post in the films section of Amazon, but on this special occasion (Julie Delpy's 30th birthday - December 21st), I thought it only right to post about one of my favorite films, "Before Sunrise." After seeing this film five times on video (never on the big screen, unfortunately...), I find myself liking it more and more and identifying with both characters (Julie Delpy's Celine and Ethan Hawke's Jesse) more deeply each time. For starters, they talk to each other the way people talk to each other in real life. Also, the development of the conversation starts out small and works it way up to more serious and interesting topics... just the way a conversation would really develop between people who have just met, but who get to know each other over a period of time. Conversation aspects aside, I feel that the best acting in this film is the nonverbal acting - the way Jessie and Celine look (or don't look) at each other, their mannerisms, Julie's European elegance, and Jesse's American awkwardness. Without giving too much away (I hate when trailers or reviews do that!), "Before Sunrise" is hands down the most un-hokey romantic film I've ever seen. It's a great date film and one which you will remember always, if you've got half a heart or if you've ever been in love. See it.

Summary: I ought to be in pictures!
Review: Beautiful story, beautifully crafted, with beautiful locations and beautiful characters played by beautiful actors (particularly Ms Delpy, whose mere face proves God's existence beyond doubt) who engage in beautiful sweet nothings while falling in love on a night in Vienna.

Only problem is, after a while you start thinking "how come none of this ever happens to me?", and you start getting beautifully depressed, and then just plain depressed, and at the end you leave the theatre feeling utterly miserable.

Hey, that's just me talking! By all means don't miss it, just don't see it alone, that's all! Get a date first!

Summary: Before Sunrise -- Wonderful romance
Review: Like the first reviewer, I've been waiting for Before Sunrise to come out on DVD for a long time. I think this movie was unfairly overlooked during its initial release. I've never seen a more romantic film. While the film's scenario is unlikely, it certainly isn't impossible. In fact, having them both be travelling is what makes it seem possible -- when you're travelling alone, you are much more likely to shed your inhibitions and be open to an experience like that. The film was consistently charming and wonderfully acted and written. And what you think about the ending probably says a lot about you -- it's one of those things that would be a bad sign if you and your significant other disagreed.

Summary: You either love this move or not.
Review: I loved this movie on first viewing and it's stayed with me ever since. The part when they are in that listening both is just so innocent and touching. No words just them glancing. Very good movie. I've been waiting for this DVD forever.

Summary: This film captures the essence of romance
Review: What a magical experience it is to fall in love. "Before Sunrise" beautifully expresses the pain, the excitement, and the *feeling* of love. It proves that to find that elusive emotion of love, one must be willing to take risks and trust one's intuition. This film so eloquently illustrates that when one reaches the end of his or her life the things that matter the most are those magical and romantic moments that one has experienced. I encourage you to see this film with someone you deeply care about.

Summary: Absolute must see for any Dreamer !!!
Review: I saw this movie for the first time on M-net (local pay channel in South Africa) and thought Wow. I have never been so enthralled by any story, be it a movie, novel, poem or word of mouth. I subsequently hired it at a local Blockbuster and have seen it many times over. Everytime I see this movie, I learn something new. The sheer blind luck of meeting someone who sweaps your heart away, spending the entire night with them and then walking away from the most magical ever to happen to you, is the stuff dreams are made of. All of this in a theatrical time span of 14 hours and set in Vienna. Absolute magic !!!

Summary: This was a good romantic film.
Review: This film perfectly depicted these two people falling in love in a such a short span of time. It was so believable to me, I believe they were going to meet again at the time and place they planned. This means there could be a sequel.

Summary: A really special film
Review: I had always wanted to see this movie and finally rented it. It is pure poetry. Julie Delpy plays a wonderful, intellectual "old soul" while Ethan Hawke is perfect as a young, growing "new" one. They are so good together. I've carried this film around with me since, along with a feeling of hope and keen reminder that the world is wonderful place - full of beauty, pain, and love. I've been trying to find the soundtrack, but there doesn't seem to be one. The scene in the listening booth is truly great.
