Description:

Sony's all-in-one DAV-BC250 home theater makes it possible to enjoy cinematic and musical excitement in lively, 360-degree surround sound--all from one, easy-to-use system. The silvery set features a slot-loading 5-disc DVD-Video changer with built-in surround-receiver abilities and color-coded speaker terminals, 5 satellite speakers powered by 113 watts apiece-including two slender floorstanding speakers for front left/right placement--and a 115-watt powered subwoofer. The components are designed to work in concert to deliver spectacular video quality and exhilarating, full-bodied surround sound from both DVD and music sources--including recordable CDs filled with MP3 music. You can also enjoy slide shows from your homemade JPEG image CDs.

Regardless of the DVD, you'll enjoy discrete, multichannel surround sound through native Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel decoding (left, center, right, left/right surround, and a ".1" low-frequency effects signal for the subwoofer) as well as from Dolby Pro Logic II, which generates multichannel surround signals from any stereo source, be it TV, CD, or even cassette tape.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DAV-BC250 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Choose from progressive-scan component-video outputs, composite-video, or S-video outputs. (Older TVs may require an RF modulator or video switcher to convert composite- or S-video to a threaded RF coaxial jack.)

After just minutes of set-up time, you'll be able to enjoy the DAV-BC250 from the repose of your easy chair with the supplied easy-to-operate Remote Commander remote control. The system's FM/AM tuner offers 30 station presets (20 FM, 10 AM), and Sony's 32-bit digital signal processing algorithms let you enhance your movie, music, or TV programs with simulated acoustic effects from a variety of environments (hall, arena, church, etc.). Auxiliary connections include one each analog- and digital-audio inputs to accommodate a VCR, camcorder, gaming console, or cable box, and a headphone jack grants private listening.
