Summary: Great!
Review: Before seeing this movie I wasn't much of a Julia Roberts fan. But now I am! I thought she played an excellent part. As well as the other characters. In the beginning I predicted what I thought was going to happen. I was completely wrong! That's one reason why I liked it so much. I also liked how the suspense kept you in the movie. Like what she was going to next and if she would ever get Michael. I also liked the part at the restaurant where they sing "I'll Say a Little Prayer for you".

Summary: Terrible movie!!
Review: It's a movie think for Julia Roberts. Every one else is nothing. I don't consider it a Romantic comedy at all.

Summary: So it isn't Shakespeare...Who cares??
Review: Maybe you have to LIVE it to understand it, but I know how Juliann feels. Having been in love with my male best friend, I was the one rooting for her as she schemed and connived to win the man of her dreams. I empathize with her as she realizes that the man she loves is slipping through her fingers, and that maybe if he just knows how he feels...

Ok, so it isn't Academy material...so what? The characters are funny, they are real, and they are loveable. Cameron Diaz definitely deserves special recognition for coming off as perfect and not fake. She is really great at the end when backed into a corner - she comes out swinging and STILL manages to maintain that perfection! All in all, a great movie that will make you laugh, and maybe if you've ever experienced unrequieted love, you can even understand what Juliann is going through.

Summary: THREE ACT PLAY WITH ONE GOOD ACT IN IT
Review: Others here commented on the exaggeration of professional food critic, Julianne Potter's (unevenly played by J. Roberts) treachery and sociopathology adopted by this character to kidnap her boyfriend (unspectacularly played by Dermot Mulroney) on the eve of his wedding to Perfect Miss America (well played by the pretty verging on gorgeous Cameron Diaz). Well so much for the writing.

However, hidden by the not entirely banal humor, I "discovered" a gem of a sub-plot involving Julianne's confidante and guru George, a homosexual. This segment of the film (I'll call it the Second Act) was both refeshingly well written and also brilliantly acted by Rupert Everett. He was convincing and just terrific ... Academy Award thespian quality. What I enjoyed is how without clichés and cheap shots at gays, in fact George's "special" sexual orientation and senistivity to relationships was portrayed as a strength ... rather than something to be ridiculed. Most gay roles in films tend to exploit exaggerations of the gay stereotype. I make this observation as a conventionally straight male. Meanwhile, Everett acted the role with dignity and marvelous control, and when he and Roberts acted together in scenes during the middle of the film (absurdly pretending to be engaged, calculated to make Mulroney's character jealous) the humor flowed.

Perhaps there was some kind of special chemistry betwen Roberts and Everett that made them shine when they acted together in this film. But, alas, there wasen't enough of this chemical to go around. Overall, this was an O.K. but not a good (never mind excellent) movie.

Summary: Enter agent provocateur -- will churchbells ring?
Review: Julia Roberts plays a young woman whose former lover is about to marry his new love, a charming Cameron Diez, who insists Roberts be her maid of honor. Little does Diez know that Roberts is not planning the wedding, but rather planning to sabotage it, in a desperate effort to win back the love of the groom. Roberts' good friend and confidente, an attractive, witty gay man (played by Rupert Everett), eventually convinces Roberts to get over it. -- This is pleasant entertainment. Get out the popcorn and enjoy!

Summary: Julia is insane, but in a completely compelling & sweet way!
Review: Julia Roberts plays a woman who has made a compact with an old boyfriend that if they were not married by the time they were thirty, they would marry each other. And come Julia's 30th, she gets a phone call from her old boyfriend saying, guess what, he's found the girl of his dreams. This shocks and horrifies Julia, because she realizes that SHE loves him! So, after she is asked to be a bridesmaid, she flies in to where the wedding will be, determined to break it off and win his heart again. Slowing her process down in the sugary sweet and innocent charm of the bride-to-be, Kimmy (played by Cameron Diaz). She thinks of everything and anything she can to stop them, and when she feels that she is defeated, her gay best friend (played by Rupert Everett) flies in to see her. He pretends to be her boyfriend, and embarasses her to no end.

It is one of the nicest and funniest movies around. Something that will touch everyone's heart and bring a smile to their face.

Summary: Lacking Plot, but some convincing acting
Review: This movie's plot was a bit far-fetched. Some of the schemes that Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) thought were imaginitive, but at the same time a bit hard to understand. At times she seemed to be the one to root for, a girl just trying to get back the man she loved, however at other times she seemed to be a horrible person, selfish and snotty and just plain cruel. The acting, however saved this movie from being absolutely horrible. The best acting in this movie was not Julia Roberts, rather Rupert Everts, "George", her gay friend. The way that he played his role of the friend who is supportive, but only so far, was convincing in believing inthe character's nice and understanding, but serious additude twoards the whole proceeding. Another very good actor was Cameron Diaz, the overly-peppy bride to be. This movie was good enough to be worth renting, but one should think twice before buying it.

Summary: I do !
Review: This movie showcases two super talents. One being Julia Roberts and other, Rupert Everett. Surprised.. don't be.. just look out for "George" and you will know why I have been talking about Mr.Everett rather than concentrating on praising Ms Roberts sky-high. Julia Roberts does a brilliant job of a girl who is on the brink of falling in love(with Dermot Mulroney) and realises it a tad too late. And then Ms. Roberts does everything to mess up things between Dermot and Ms Diaz.

This movie is definitely going to steal a smile from your countenance and make you giggle like a 16-year old.

Ms Roberts enacts the role of a "desparado" with a finesse incomparable. The surprise package of the movie is Rupert Everett in a role of Julia's Editor. He is outstandingly funny and stylish, especially in the last scene. Of the others, the less said the better. Dermot Mulroney is as stone faced as a stone-aged caveman. Diaz is screechingly irritating but endearing in some scenes.

All in all, a movie that will tickle the funny bone in you.

Summary: Funny & Entertaining!
Review: This is one of my all-time favorites! Without me giving away the whole movie, I'll say the plot is unusual (this may or may not be something that would actually happen in real life), but also interesting. The whole movie is very funny, & performances by everyone were SUPERB! This was the first time I had even heard of Cameron Diaz, & she HAS NOT been able to top her performance in this movie with anything she's done since. Rupert really does "steal the show", he was so excellent. I've seen this one several times, have bought it for my DVD collection, & know I'll want to keep watching it over & over again. This one is sure to become a classic comedy hit, especially in the history of Julia Roberts' acting career: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED--GET IT!
