Summary: Rupert Everett: the real best friend
Review: I absolutely love this video. Not only does it offer Julia Roberts the opportunity to play the sort of off-the-wall romantic heroine she's best at (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride), it also provides us with perspective on two things: being careful what we ask for, and what constitutes real friendship. I contend that her real best friend all the way through this film is Everett. If you watch closely, every scene he's in with her contains the sort of sincere caring and genuine love we all wish we could have from friends...and lovers, for that matter. Not only does he steal every scene he's in with his great comic timing, he manages to imbue his character with great dimensionality and tenderness. Very appealing! I found myself wishing I had a friend like him: one who would say "There may not be marriage; there may not be sex; but, by God, there will be dancing!"

Summary: First of all...I loved it.
Review: First of all...I loved it! Talk about a film that anyone willenjoy, this is it. For those close-minded movie-goers who think thatthis film is just for "women-only" or that you should go see it "just to please your significant other", then you are completely wrong.

You will like, if not love this film. The humor is funny, the acting superb, and story believable. Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney are excellent as "best friends" and Rupert Everett's character will make you laugh out loud.

Anyone who has ever had a member of the opposite sex for a best friend will find that this movie hits a nerve...or should I say "funny bone". It really is like banging your elbow on a chair arm and everyone around you begins to laugh, and then you begin to laugh, but deep down inside you are saying "gosh darn it (or something similar) that really hurt".

If you think the film is going to be predictable...then think again...there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing on the outcome. The film would be excellent for all ages.

Bottom line...call up your "ex, old or current, opposite-sex best friend", get together, go see this movie, and throughout it you can jab each other in the side and say "yep, that's something you would do"....and afterwards, you will walk away and know why you could never have married each other...for it could have ruined a "wonderful friendship". END

Summary: Leonard Maltin is off his rocker
Review: Cameron Diaz and Rupert Everett generate real interest and make the very best of what they are handed, but Roberts and her primate friend Dermot are awful--the most appallingly crass characterizations I've seen in years, and they generate no sympathy whatsoever. Horribly implausible, cruel, aggressively stupid, unromantic, and largely unfunny. Hollywood at its very worst.

Summary: If you have ever fallen in love
Review: If you have ever fallen in love this movie is for you. It shows the ups and downs of what can happen if you get in the way of a wedding. It shows how horrible we can get when we have our mind on one thing and try to kill everything in our path. It is a really good movie. Julia Roberts is really good. The music they pick for it was good it went with what was going on. Every piece of film was needed in order to tell the story. It will make you think about who to make your best friend.

Summary: Funny, light-hearted romantic comedy!
Review: What is the worst feeling in the world? Okay, apart from being trapped in a room all your life with nothing but Barry Manilow songs to keep you company. It is being in love with someone who used to love you. Funnily enough, this is the situation good ole Jule finds herself in with this movie.

I hear you ask, how could anyone not love this Pretty Woman? Well, when the other love interest is none other than Cameron Diaz, you see why!

With two beauties like these in the film, it's funny how the main show stopper is none other than Rupert Everret who plays the gay friend of Julia.

Along the way, Rupert gives solid advice to Julia, who chooses to ignore it. Lets face it, if she did take his advice, there wouldn't be a movie would there? He also initiates one of the best feel-good factors of all time. The singing scene at the restaraunt. This has to be seen to be believed.

One problem with the movie, which is not just a problem with this movie but with quite a few that are coming out at the moment is that the director thinks that a funny moment is the lead actress falling down. Okay, it's funny the first couple of times! Take this hint all ye directors out there.

Over all, anyone's gonna enjoy this movie cos it's a barrel of laughs and in a way, we can all relate to it.

Summary: Pure Entertainment Value
Review: Quite a list of perspectives on this review list! I think you can't take it too seriously which is assumed with the introduction segment setting the tone. But this is a fun and funny movie. I suspect many people can relate to it as it most likely touches a cord in a number of us. Enjoy it for a fun, entertaining night with a video. You'll be humming the songs for days!

Summary: Just a comedy but scary what it says about women in the '90s
Review: This movie really bothered me. I like romantic comedies, I liked Pretty Woman, but this movie just played like it was written by a man who thinks he knows women well...but doesn't. Why do we have to see Julia Roberts falling apart because she's not married? why the implication that if she didn't take her job so seriously (more "wifely") she would be happier? why the implication that Cameron Diaz, the one who gets the guy, has made the better decision, to quit college and her dreams of being an architect to get married? (why would she need to quit working anyway even if she did get married? why does her future spouse want her to do so?) If social subtexts don't bother you enjoy this movie but if you can't quite turn off the reality meter then give this one a miss.

Summary: One of My Favorites
Review: This is one of my favorite top five movies of all times. It will make you laugh, cry, angry, etc. Although Julia Roberts was shallow and nasty at times, it was still a funny movie and I actually felt sympathy for her at times. In a way I wish she would've gotten the guy, but the movie wouldn't be the same. It's a movie about letting go of those that you love and not getting everything you want. It reflects the fact that not everything turns out the way you want it to be in life. Some things are meant to be and some just aren't! I loved Julia Roberts in this and would recommend it to all of her fans.
