Summary: View at your own risk!
Review: I saw this during its theatrical run. Great casting. It was especially cool to see Jason Bateman, but it didn't deliver. I would recommend this if you like American Pie, you know, gross out humor with a heart, otherwise steer clear of this one. At the screening I went to everybody seemed to enjoy it, so I could be wrong. One more thing, Parker Posey was seriously underused here, and Diaz & Applegate had great chemistry. Couldn't save this movie though.

Summary: Cute and funny, but kind of pointless
Review: I liked this movie because it was very funny. The girls did a really good job, and I think they are the reason that it turned out as well as it did. A great thing about this movie is that it's not a chick-flick that all the guys dread. Most guys would probably like this movie just as much as the girls which makes it a great movie to rent for a date. A lot of this movie is dirty comedy, which can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on what types of movies you prefer. (Don't get me wrong, it's not like porn or anything, but there's a reason it's rated R.) But anyways, if you're in the mood to laugh, then this is a good movie to watch.

Summary: The Silliest Thing - But Great Fun
Review: If it were anyone other than Cameron Diaz in the main role, this silly, sappy romantic sex-comedy would drip worse than nacho cheese in the microwave - but it is her, and she has more than enough capable help from similarly experienced sex-comedy veterans Christina Applegate and Selma Blair.

Diaz is the hottest thing in the Club circuit, and knows it. She's broken more hearts than Cupid on steroids, and loves it. What kind of guy wins that kind of girl? One that calls her on [it], of course, which catches Diaz's attention and ultimately causes her to obsess about a man she's barely exchanged a dozen words with and knows next to nothing about. Yuppie lawyer friend Christina Applegate talks Diaz into a road trip to find the object of her affections, based on a single offhanded clue as to where he will be. Recently jilted roommate Selma Blair stays behind to overcompensate her consolation, and get herself into some pretty funny sexual situations.

It all works out, of course. It's romantic comedy. What were you expecting? Opera? The cast is generally better than the material, but the material is pretty good. Parker Posey has a good cameo role.

If you like this kind of thing, you'll laugh your gluteus maximus off - if you don't, you'll probably be mildly amused and check your watch a lot.

Do be warned, it's a bit salty. Certainly no worse than There's Something About Mary, though.

Summary: A guy movie, only with girls in it
Review: As other reviewers have mentioned, this is definitely not the "chick flick" the previews made it out to be. Basically, if you're a guy who wants to see pretty, extremely thin women commit risque acts, this is your movie! See Selma Blair have sex with a guy in an elephant costume! Watch Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate simulate oral sex while driving! Observe as Christina Applegate uses a urinal in a men's restroom. And so on. The movie is extremely raunchy and juvenile, but without the witty dialogue and distinctive performances of, say, "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," or even "There's Something About Mary." I give the movie two stars because it was entertaining, but the more I thought about it afterward the more annoyed with it I became. I would suggest you watch this on premium cable some rainy afternoon when nothing else is on, or rent it once it's no longer a new release and is therefore cheaper. That's what movies like this are good for.

Summary: Funny Movie!!
Review: I went to see this movie today and I really enjoyed it. It was so funny. I thought it was suppossed to be a romantic comedy, but it more comedy than anything. It's a basically about a woman named Christina Walters(Carmen Diaz) who is basically a player, but only because she is too afraid to take a chance on love. She finally meets a guy who she really likes named Peter Donahue, but it turns out he's getting married. Before she finds out he is getting married she and her best friend ?(Christina Applegate) take a road trip to the wedding. There were a number of funny scenes during the road trip. Anyway he didn't get married because he and the bride decided that they weren't "in" love with each other. Meanwhile Christina is sulking and so on and so on...

Chrsitina Applegate and Selma Blair added a lot of humor to this movie as well. Wait unitl you see the scene with Jane (Selma Blair) and her boyfriend...oh my goodness.

If you want a good laugh or just want some cheering up, this is the movie for you. Enjoy!

Summary: A Must See RENTAL!
Review: This film could have been so much better and it tries way too hard to gross out the audience just to get some laughs. The only saving grace of the film is the always charming Cameron Diaz and the surprisingly hilarious Christina Applegate. There are a few laugh out loud moments such as the Dry Cleaners scene with a stained dress and Selma Blair(who is less annoying than usual in this film) and the movie montage sequence involving a fashion show as the girls dress up like characters from Pretty Woman and Grease. Other than that, most of the jokes I rolled my eyes in the stupidity of them. If you want a film that you can just go and have a good time, then this is the film for you, but if you're expecting a great comedy, then forget about it. The plot is predictable and besides Christina and Camreron there is no chemistry between the actors, even between Cameron and the man she falls in love with. This movie is definetly a rental, save your $10.

Summary: Hilarious!!!!
Review: If you're looking for a laugh, look no further than "The Sweetest Thing." Yes, the humor is crude. If you enjoyed the "American Pie" movies or "There's Something About Mary" you'll love this one. If you didn't like those movies, than you'll probably hate this one.

THE STORY:

Christian (Cameron Diaz) is "man-eater" of a woman with the "love 'em and leave 'em" mentality who's afraid of commitment. Her friends, Courtney (Christina Applegate) and Jane (Selma Blair), are similar minded but each with their own issues.

While on a night out at the clubs to cheer up Jane, Christina has a chance meeting with Peter (Thomas Jane) whom she really digs but does not pursue while she has the chance. The rest of the movie follows the girls' mis-adventures as Christina along with Courtney seeks out Peter.

THE GOOD STUFF:

If you loved the outrageous overtly sexually-innuendoed situations in movies like the "American Pie" films or "There's Something About Mary" you'll definitely love "The Sweetest Thing." I'd equate this movie at just a notch or two up on the "adult toilet" humor scale from those movies. Most definitely, this is not the type of movie to bring the younger set to. (The 'R' rating is most justified). I for one found myself continuously rolling while watching this one.

BEST SCENES:

1. The car scene with the on-looking motorcyclist.

2. The laundry cleaner's scene.

3. The "emergency response in the bedroom" scene.

4. The bathroom scene.

THE VERDICT:

Overall, if you need a real good hard laugh, and don't find toilet humor offensive and actually find it hilarious, then you'll love this film. If this type of humor isn't your thing you can take a pass at this one.

Highly Recommended

Review: For years I thought Highlander 2 was the worst movie ever, but not anymore. This now rates as the worst movie I have ever seen. Watching the plot unfold was almost painful, as it seemed to make stops at as many stereotypes as they could cram in there. Maybe they didn't want to take the time to write real characters so they relied on exagerrations. You have the "Hey baby" guy at the club (who tries to get the girl into bed by leaving her alone on the dance floor at her showing the slightest hint of interest) you have the dirty old man at the golf course, you have the sleazy biker, the Something-About-Mary-ish gross out jokes (most of which are unfortunately not even remotely funny) I could go on and on. I'm not sure if the characters were supposed to be ditzy and shallow or if that was just a result of bad writing, either way I couldn't care less what happened to them, I just couldn't wait for the movie to finally end.
