Summary: Chick Flic for Women as well as Men
Review: I cannot stand "Chick Flics" at all. My wife cannot force me to watch Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding and the like. However anytime she pops this movie in I won't hesitate to sit right down along side her and watch the movie from beginning to end. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are superb. The movie doesn't have that big time romance that many women seem to watch this type of movie for. However it is a soft-spoken light hearted comedy that is thoroughly enjoyable for both the laughs and family atmosphere that this classic brings out.

"Sam" (Tom Hanks) is a widower now solely taking care of his son "Jonah". He decides to move from Chicago to Seattle in search of a new start, however after a year and a half hasn't come close to recovering or starting over. Jonah phones a radio psychiatrist to try to be able to help his dad. 3000 miles away "Annie" (Meg Ryan) is listening to the radio and is touched by the story. She's not alone...thousands of other women are dying for Sam's number and want to meet him. After a time, Annie decides to write Sam herself and before she knows it she's falling in love with a man she's never met. Whats more is she is engaged and soon to be married to "Walter", a dull business man who is allergic to everything....EVERYTHING!!! Annie finally decides that to truly know what she wants she must atleast meet Sam in an attempt to find out if they will ever have a chance of falling in love. Sleepless In Seattle brings a smile to my face everytime I watch it.

Summary: Very romantic
Review: Very romantic but not cheesy , with acceptable performances by Hanks and Ryan. To tell you the truth I like "you've got mail", but because of that I also bought this one.

Summary: Love is a Journey of the Heart, not the destination.
Review: Tom Hanks is the consumate actor, no matter what he does these days. Meg Ryan is an actor to sit up and take serious notice, be it drama or romance/comedy. She IS a sweetheart. Together they are chemistry, they ARE Magic! While some of my fellow reviewers would have loved to see more of them together on the screen, I counter that by saying that 'finding' each other was THE challenge and worth the trip. A recent widower and a soon-to-be bride have destiny intercede and thus makes this Ephron effort one of the best around. Rosie O'Donnell is impressive with her comic relief as best friend to Meg Ryan and Bill Pullman carries himself with style and class, as Meg's fiancé. Rob Reiner is ..well..Rob! And perfect is his role, supporting Tom! This movie is about finding love again. Or maybe finding it for the first time..who knows? It is warm and full of what makes the heart joyful, weep, despair, grieve and joyful once again. We can each look within and see some trace of loving and losing..may not always be pretty...but this film is and more! Give this movie a try..you may enjoy it enough to see it at LEAST once more (unlike yours truly, who lost count after 50!!) If other viewer/reviewers believe this movie is 'syrupy', maybe s/he have never really loved and lost at all. The sound track gives credible support to the message of this movie and worth owning as well..good stuff! This is a truly 'feel good' movie. The actors do it justice ++; Nora Ephron displays to the world that she is a master at touching the heart!

Summary: One of my top 10 movies of all time
Review: If you ever believed that there is one special person out there, just for you - and you just haven't met him/her yet - you need to see this movie. Hopeless romanticism is not just for the young ! You could be a middle-age parent and still want/need to meet that one special someone, and no one does it better than Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. This is one of the ultimate love stories of our time. You feel the yearning of their souls and sweat out their doubts and anxiety. I loved it !

Summary: Excellent romantic comedy!
Review: Tom Hanks stars as a widower (Sam Baldwin), who along with his son, is looking for a wife. The son (Jonah) phones in a radio psychiatrist and then puts his father on the line. Women all over the country fall in love with him. The movie is particularly about one of these women named Annie, played by Meg Ryan.

After Annie's friend sends a letter for her (unknowingly), she receives a reply and believes that Sam is the man for her. Following a failed trip to Seattle, Annie soon decides her and Sam were never meant to be. Jonah, Sam's son, then sends a letter to Annie to arrange a meeting time and place.

I found this movie to be an excellent romantic comedy. The acting is great and I have no major complaints with the movie. My minor complaint is that it seems to be a little slow moving at times. Although the story is incredibly coincidental, it is still a great movie. Strongly recommended!

Summary: The Best Romance Movie Out There
Review: I saw this movie on TBS Superstation last night. I'd never seen it before, and I was excited to watch it, seing that Tom Hanks is my favorite actor. Well, after watching the movie I'm a big fan of another actor-or actress;Meg Ryan. I had seen her in other things but after watching this movie, I see why she was called "America's Sweetheart". Her character may not have its drawbacks, but that'a why I liked her so much. Annie[Ryan] is so sweet and likeable that you can't help but love her. It was cheesy, but I liked how she got so into hearing Jonah on the radio, she kept cheering him on as he was talking and I thought it was cute how she cried when Sam talked on the show. I wasn't diappointed with Hank's acting either, and Rosie O' Donnell was great also. But I really noticed Meg's performance, and that's the movie that made me a fan. I really liked the ending, it wasn't the typical romance ending at all. My only regret is that Sam and Annie didn't spend more time together. But overall the story worked really well, and it should be considered a classic.
P.S. I really liked Meg's hair in this movie. It's been short as long as I can remember, but I thought she was so much more pretty with her long hair. Oh, well.

Summary: Christmas Magic
Review: Some people have songs, my husband and I have a movie. We not only met in Seattle, my husband lived next to Lake Union, very close to where this movie was made. He actually saw them filming scenes from the movie.

You could say the roles were a bit reversed, being I was the one getting over a relationship and he was not really looking at the time. Having lived in Seattle for many years, I especially enjoyed seeing scenes from Pike Place Market and West Seattle.

Rosie O'Donnell adds to the wit with lines like: "You want to be in love in a movie." Tom Hanks gives a sensitive performance as Sam who lost the love of his life. He and his son Jonah, live on Lake Union. Annie (Meg Ryan) is caught up with plans for her wedding. She is engaged and not looking for love. Yet, as it so often happens, love does appear when you are not looking.

One night Annie hears a radio show where Jonah has called in to ask how his father could find a new wife. The radio host invites Sam to reveal his heart and Annie literally cries when he says how his wife used to make everything in his life beautiful. She makes a connection and starts fantasizing about a man she has never met.

The songs are masterfully woven into the story and provides a feeling of old fashioned romance, where destiny draws two lovers to one another. There is also a sense of family and how everyone has needs and desires. Jonah especially wants a mother. Annie and Sam don't really know what they want, but they do get what they need. I found that very true to life.

Wit, chemistry, laugh-out-loud humor and romance, romance, romance! Worth watching at least once a year during the holiday season!

Dreamy!

Summary: A Very Nice Movie with Very Nice Actors
Review: I know that many people think this is a wonderful movie, but it seems very light to me. I like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, but their relationship seems so much less than the relationships between Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, or Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, or Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, or Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn, or Dick Powell and Myrna Loy. I know I'm holding them to high standards, but many "Sleepless" fans act like this film is in that league. The story has no complexity and is entirely predictable. Actually, I like "While You Were Sleeping" better; the characters are less perfect and the plot has a few twists.
