Rating: Summary: Too predictable Review: I was so happy to discover that the wedding planner is already on dvd so I rented it and went home to see it after seeing it I've 2 words to say:Too Predictable. The main actors here are:Jennifer Lopez is Mary Fiore a wedding planner who goes by the word:those who can't wed plan and: Matthew McConaughey is Dr.Steve Eddison the one who saves mary's life from a bizzare accident and she falls in love with him and u know the deal....... This is the first jennifer lopez movie I've ever seen (ok I saw anconda but only for 15 min)and she's a good actress. The director of the movie had stuck to the regular formula man rescue a woman woman falls in love with the man blah blah blah....This movie is cute not great but cute.
Rating: Summary: funny... Review: THE WEDDING PLANNER was a funny -- the cute funny -- movie that works well. Everything was funny, and the deleted scenes would have been fine if left in. Everything was perfect: beautiful scenes, humor, and romance. Everthing but the credits, where they played J. Lo's "Love Don't Cost a Thing."
Rating: Summary: Missing Chemistry Review: The Wedding Planner was a good Romantic comedy. But something about the movie's chemistry was keeping it from being a Great Romantic Comedy. I suppose it could have been because of the image that Jennifer had [...] being on stage half naked and then trying to play a wholesome girl nextdoor type on screen. It made it kind of hard to really get into the movie for me because these two images were so far at odd's with one another. Other than that I think that the acting was good and this is not a bad movie by any means. I would recommend seeing this movie. But it's not a must see type of movie.
Rating: Summary: A terrific "chick flick".... Review: and not just because it is about weddings. Some of us DO think that the hype and expense of an extravagant wedding is just a thing of the past! This is a harmless date movie, a great movie for a group of women getting together for the first time in a long time, and definitely exceeds expectations if you are searching for a movie for your pre-teen daughter. I am impressed with JLo's business savvy - Julia Roberts she is not, but she diversifies her roles so well (The Cell vs The Wedding Planner?), and couples them with her recording career in a way that insures she remains in the forefront of the public eye and appeals to both women and men, and many demographic groups. Here she's paired with Matthew McConaughey; who plays off better with "goofy types" like Sandra Bullock or Kate Hudson. His chemistry with Jennifer is only slightly better than it was with Jodie Foster in "Contact". He's believable as a doctor, but I can't help but wish that Greg Kinnear or Tom Cavanagh (TV's "Ed") would have been available to brighten the character and set off some sparks. Jennifer's hair stylist made sure that she had such an ordinary style that it underplayed her beauty and her sensuality, helping her style fit the role of Mary. Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, (yup, Pete's wife) is incredibly beautiful and believable as the smart, wealthy and wise Fran. A breath of fresh air to have a privileged young woman played against type as a really great person instead of a spoiled brat! A trio of comedic talents, Kathy Najimy, Kevin Pollack and Fred Willard make you wish they were used more extensively in the film....a sure sign that too much ended up on the cutting room floor. You'll also be drawn to seeing Charles Kimbrough ("Jim" of Murphy Brown fame) in a cameo role. He is a hoot, and I've missed him on the small screen. Billed in its ads and its trailer as a slapstick comedy, WP, is really more of a formulaic happily ever after flick that keeps your interest, makes you smile, and makes sure you don't regret buying the DVD (although renting might be a better choice, if you do not have a teenage girl!) Some excellent special features...The "Dancer & the Cowboy Featurette" is entertaining, soundtrack is fitting, deleted scenes are worth a view. I enjoyed myself watching this movie and congratulate Columbia on selecting a director (Adam Shankman) and a star that played it "just right".
Rating: Summary: Steve Likes Light Hearted Entertainment Review: Movie Summary: Mary is into weddings. She hasn't had good luck finding anyone for herself to marry, so she has become one of the most successful wedding planners in California. All at once, Mary lands the biggest wedding of her planning career and meets the man of her dreams when he saves her shoe and her life from a run away dumpster. Mary and bride to be Fran become friends as they plan Fran and Eddy's wedding. Mary also has the best night of her life in the park with Steve the doctor who saved her life. The next day, she meets Fran's fiancé Eddy. Much to her surprise, "Eddy" turns out to Doctor Steve whom Mary has fallen in love with. Now she must push though planning the wedding having broken the number one rule of wedding planning - Do Not Fall In Love With The Groom! My Opinion: This is a light hearted uncomplicated romantic comedy. It never tries to be anything else. It wasn't made to be anything else. As such, it succeeds in making you laugh, and entertaining you for 104 minutes. Everyone is nice and things are fairly predictable but this is made pretty obvious by the movie trailers and descriptions. To be disappointed because it wasn't a complicated epic like "The English Patient" is unfair. I enjoyed both Jennifer Lopez, Matthew McConaughey. They both were very enjoyable and likeable. DVD Quality: Widescreen anamorphic - 2.35:1, DD 5.1. Many extra features including deleted scenes that show how the movie evolved. What You Should Do: See it if you like romantic comedies and are in the mood for a nice, cute movie. This would also make a good "makeup" movie for making your wife or girlfriend sit through a violent shootem up guy flick. Jennifer Lopez does and absolutely fabulous job in this movie, as well as Matthew McConaughey. The song during the ending credits didnt really fit, but I definitely recommend this movie to anybody.
Rating: Summary: Good Romantic Comdey Review: I liked this movie, Jennifer Lopez is a good actress she plays Mary a wedding planner, one day while she is walking around her "shoe," is stuck Matthew nwho plays Steve saves her. So then they start to be friends--I won't say the rest, but the dvd has great features. Deleted Sences were good. Ok well this is worth watching.
Rating: Summary: An uplifting romantic comedy... Review: Even though this movie is very predictable from the first 5 minutes, it still manages to keep you enthrawled with its little twists and turns. The storyline focuses on Maria (Jennifer Lopez), a very successful but lonely wedding planner, who falls in love with a doctor (Matthew McConaughey) who saves her from being hit by a runaway dumpster! After a date with him, she is high on life until she finds out that he is the groom in the current wedding she is planning! Throughout the movie, both characters search for what they see best for both of them, with heartwarming, and uplifting results! Again, not an Oscar winner, but one that you can watch again and again.
Rating: Summary: Great movie! Review: I LOVED this movie! At first it seems like it is going to be just another predictable ending, but several events come up that leave you worried that things may not end up how you might want them to. I can't wait to get a copy of this movie so I can watch it again! I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cute movie.
Rating: Summary: how many times have we seen this before?!!!!! Review: Although it was obvious that they were trying to implement an original plot, this movie fell victim to the overworked cliches of a modern romantic comedy.Quite plainly, this movie was a cheap rip-off of the more successful (and more amusing) "My Best Friend's Wedding". The movie was bearable only because of its star-studded cast but even so the predictability of its weak plot dampened the capabilities of its actors. Romantic, maybe, but as comedy it offered nothing fresh, particularly amusing or memorable. Skip it...
