Summary: Stunning
Review: Adam Sandler acts superbly! Emily Watson is absolutly sublime in her role. The script is ingenious with glib in the most appropriate spots. Fear and fright are displayed esquisitely within the characters.
Sandler plays an awkward brother of many sisters who is introduced to Watson's character by one of his sister's. A utter nuratic character totally obsessed with the task at hand . . . unaware nearly of the life surrounding him. He falls in love with Watson's character, going to great lengths to prove it. He does off-the-wall things most people wouldn't do, like fake a business trip to be with her. A phone call to a sex line ensues great issues and leads Sandler's character into a frenzy, proving his vulnerability yet inner strength.
The movie has everything one should have. Great script, great actors and great music. The music is impeccable in timing and eerie, just like the film itself. This film is not a typical Sandler movie, it is better. He has been able to turn his typical obnoxious switch off, and I applaud him for it.
Want a light-hearted comedy with a dash of love? Punch Drunk Love is for you!

Summary: A tribute
Review: P.T. Anderson is one of my favorite directors. He is a master at what he does and a ringleader of a new way of thinking, as his circus name seems to suggest. Yes, Punch-Drunk Love may not be for everyone. But for those that appreciate film, this is another masterpiece. But the most striking feature about this film is not Sandler's great performance, a crazy plot that somehow makes sense, or a love story so real it hurts. It is Anderson's tribute to romantic movies of old. His use of music and the stunning visuals give note to this. If anyone noticed Sandler is always in that saturated blue suit and Watson is in that bright red dress. also the color bars and stars in the credits and parts of the film hearken back to movies in the 60s. this is a very updated romantic film. Anderson knows his stuff.

Summary: Loved It!!!!!
Review: BRILLIANT!!!!
PT Anderson is now probably my favourite director. Boogie Nights is simply one of the greatest films in history, Magnolia wasn't as good but still demonstrated how original and creative PTA is, and PDL just topped it off. PTA is a genius. Best director around at present.

Summary: PunchDrunkLove
Review: Adam Sandler's acting is extraordinary. This movie proves that Adam Sandler is not only good for laughs (unless you think he is a horrible comedian like many people I know). If you like him or not you'll agree with me. It's haunting. I couldn't stop thinking about the movie for two days after I saw it. Another masterpiece by P.T.

Summary: BIG disappointment! Look for older movies for good romance!
Review: Sure Adam Sandler is okay is a different role than people are used to seeing him in, and yes, there are a few funny scenes with likeable characters. That is why I am giving this movie two stars rather than 1 (or 0) that I thought it deserved. How can people say this picture makes you feel good? It is really sad to see a person like the main character suffer so severely for making seemingly small mistakes. Just because he calls a "phone sex" place, he is blackmailed (and worse). There was very little justice for what he endured, and even though he gets himself together to make an impression on a woman, the fact that she couldn't tell what a mess he is doesn't speak highly of her. I thought this was a poorly presented story with pitiful personas in a terrible and dangerous setting. Maybe that is life in "the big city," but it sure isn't my idea of pleasurable movie viewing. Finally, what's with the occasional burst of colors flashing on the screen to poorly "fuse" or "mingle" the scenes together? Did the director actually think this was a clever way to combine different scenes smoothly? I only wish I could have felt satisfied after seeing this movie, but I felt like I needed to rent one of the classic romances like IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT or even modern movies like SLEEPLESS IN SEATLE that have moments of drama and comedy leading up to a romantic storyline, not the harsh realities found in an inner city with emotionally disturbed people!

Summary: New Role For Sandler...
Review: I walked into the cinema with misinformed that this was an "Adam Sandler" movie. It was not. He simply played the lead role in the film, and although it was a new character for Sandler, I feel that he did not fulfill that role as the directer intended. Fans of Sandler may have seen this movie in hopes of a hilarious comedy that he is so famous for delivering, but they may be disappointed - as I greatly was.

Summary: oddly amazing
Review: Before seeing this movie i really did not know what to expect, taking Sandlers previous performances into consideration, especially being as type-cast as he is. Not being a big fan of Sandler, my expectations were'nt very high. Lets just say i have a new respect for the man and his ability to act. Adam Sandler aside; the movie was increddible. There couldnt have been more of a perfect blend of hilarity and drama....as long as you're able to decipher between the two in the movie. The score is yet another element that really takes the movie up a notch.

After i had left the theatre, punch drunk love felt like a catchy song that i couldnt get out of my head...and it definitely left me smiling. Needless to say i would recommend this film to anyone.

Summary: I agree with Zack Grunau...
Review: I have been trying to wrap my mind around this movie, and quite honestly, why I absolutely loved it. After seeing it, I couldn't explain the feelings I had as I somehow understood Adam Sandler's character while at the same time feeling so distant from him. It was a very strange.

And then there is the fact that no one I know liked it. And after reading Zack's comments, I truly understand now that they were all stupid, and they're expectations were completely different than what I had and therefore I came away from the movie seeing something beautiful and moving while they saw a weird romantic comedy.

I'm not going to go any further because I can't put feelings into words. Just read this guy Zack's review and you'll understand.

Summary: Sandler redeemed!
Review: Not that Adam Sandler's earlier films weren't entertaining; the sheer monotony of seeing a talent such as Sandler playing the same obnoxious immature man was getting old really fast. Leave it to P.T. Anderson, who it seems is commonly overlooked by the mainstream in favor of lesser talents, to come up with both a great role for Sandler and a great movie overall. Punch Drunk Love strays from standard film conventions and that is refreshing. This movie won't reap zillions at the box office and that's okay. It is a quality investment of time, money, and thought.

Summary: Adams Sandlers Worst Film
Review: Adam Sandler is a talented actor. However, this was his worst movie by far. He has been type-cast into a raging maniac in one too many films. I mean really... what was the plot to this film?
Adam Sandler destroys the men's bathroom - for no reason. He breaks things in his sisters house - for no reason. He is basically an anti social misfit. Yet, he owns his own business, maintains his temper with his employees, has a fudge pudding fetish and wears the same outfit for the entire movie.
Why Punch Drunk Love? This movie should have been called "Sugar makes me Crazy!"
If this was suppose to be a break through performance for Adam Sandler... this film failed miserably. He needs an opportunity to act and display his overall talent (Remember Saturday Night Live). Not just a character that resorts to violence in EVERY film.
Adam if your reading this. Sorry bro the truth hurts. You are a superstar - ask for better scripts.
