Summary: hahahahaha
Review: I have seen this film so many times but it never fails to make me laugh. I don't know whether it is John Cusack or the script or whatever, but it is one of my favourite films. Just thinking about the truck scene has me in hysterics, and also the pool scene, and well pretty much all of it actually! Go see it now!

Summary: John Cusack is Great
Review: I'm a fan of the typical teenage movie, and I love this one. It's so funny, clever, and most of all cute. Like other movies (Overnight Deliverery), it involves an immature college student, Gib, and an uptight perfectionist that absolutely can't stand each other. After both joining a carpool to California they have to put up with each other through thick and thin. My favorite parts include the ones where Allison lets go and adopts the Gibson mentality (the scene with the mooning rednecks). A sweet movie.

Summary: Not Just Another "Teen Flick"
Review: Hollywood, take note! Lately there has been a barrage of teen high school movies which portray teens as mindless, hormonal goofs. John Cusack gives a tour de force performance as a manic, but slightly insecure college student who enters into a hilarious "Hope & Crosby" road trip with the studious Daphne Zuniga. The trip begins with their catching a lift with (a pre-"Bull Durham") Tim Robbins and his wife straight out of the '50's which would drive just about anyone to the brink. Rob Reiner directs with a gentle hand and Cusack has the opportunity to showcase his quick wit and street smarts. The scene with the lascivious man picking up Zuniga and (unbeknownst to him) Cusack will leave you rolling on the floor. While the premise is Cusack hitting the road to join his buddy (a pre "ER' Anthony Edwards) in California for a date with a "sure thing", the gradual unfolding of the romance between Cusack and Zuniga is a welcome change from the libidinous portrayal of young people in today's movies. The message is clear...we think we know what we want until something special comes our way and directs us in a way we had never intended. This movie is a smart, funny love story sure to leave even the most jaded viewer with a longing to be young and truly in love again.

Summary: My favorite!
Review: John Cusack is the best. And even though The Sure Thing is one of his lesser known films, it is certainly great, and my personal favorite. There is nothing trite or unreal in this film. And it is so funny. The scene with Gib and Alison in the truck with the old guy is so hilarious. I'm laughing now just thinking about it. See this movie. It's wonderful!

Summary: John Cusack in great form for another 80's teen flick.
Review: John Cusack is in true form in this hilarious mid-eighties movie. Even though the humor is on a sophmoric level, Cusack always amazes me with his funny diatribes. The scene with the old cowboy in the pick-up truck STILL makes me laugh everytime I think about it! Great movie that will provide you with lots of laughs.

Summary: Classic 1980s romantic-comedy-coming-of-age-road-trip movie!
Review: A must-see and must-own for anyone who enjoyed that 1980's "coming of age" movie genre. See John Cusack, Anthony Edwards, Tim Robbins and Nicolette Sheridan before they were stars. The first in a long line of hits by director Rob Reiner. Great soundtrack, too! The Sure Thing is a sure bet!

Summary: Funny, witty, a movie to live by.
Review: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is incredibly funny, with a dry wit. Cusack is at his best. Buy it and watch it... often.

Summary: My Favorite Movie
Review: Given the name, you'd think this was some typical teen sex flick. Au contrair, mon frere. This is a sharp, smart, hilarious love story that actually shows how the two main characters fall in love--instead of implying (or inferring) this thru the use of a cliched "falling-in-love" montage complete with a made-for-the-soundtrack radio hit. The script is very well-written, manic in parts and sweet in others, and perfectly paced. By the end, you've forgotten that this couple is travelling cross-country together in order to reach OTHER people. There is no filler (see above comment on montages); every second of this movie advances the story or shades the characters. John Cusack's performance as the loopy, lovable Gib is right on target. Daphne Zuniga, as the pretty perfectionist Alison, does pretty well, too. And wait till you get a load of the supporting characters. If I had a third thumb, it'd be up, too. See this movie.

Summary: This is one of my top 10's!
Review: I first saw "The Sure Thing" when it came out in 1985, I remember seeing it as a double feature with "The Breakfast Club" (I was anxious to see "The Breakfast Club," because of all of the great reviews and hype my piers gave it). After a friend and I left the theater, we commented on how much we enjoyed "The Sure Thing," and we both agreed that it was the better of the two films. We first thought it was going to be one of those typical teenage movies, full of sex and foul language, but to our surprise that was the furthest from the truth. This is a terrific movie, thats especially fun to watch now, since actors like John Cusack, Anthony Edwards, Daphne Zuniga, Nicolette Sheridan, and Tim Robbins were virtual no names in 1985. It is fresh, funny and smartly written, thats great for viewers of any age!
