Summary: AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT....
Review: ...this movie about fate, destiny and whathaveyou falls on its head.

Like a countless other missed romantic "comedies", it tries to capitalize on the idea of two people searching for each other, only to find each other in the last moments of the film. Sadly, it fails on the most basic level to entertain, leaving the viewer with nothing but a more-than-mild case of hatred for the protagonists and a sick feeling in their stomachs.

The characters never make it to more than shallow and self-centered, willing to mislead their fiancee's, lie, even cheat, for just one chance to have, not just happiness, but ultimate happiness. The humor is never quite funny. The acting looks like, well, acting. The situations are so implausible they're almost idiotic.

If these characters had shown any honesty, any decency towards the jilted parties, perhaps it would have been a different movie. Instead the characters seem to go out of their way to pile lie upon lie, deception upon deception. Cusack, who lent a soulless contract killer likability in Grosse Point Blank, is surprisingly flat here.

The soundtrack is pretty neat though, but otherwise a fairly bland flop.

Summary: A great movie to escape to! The DVD has great extras too
Review: Fantastic. Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack have fantastic chemistry although it was technically for a short period. Light-hearted romantic comedy with superb supporting cast from Jeremy Priven and Molly Shannon. This is one of those movies that flow so quickly you can't believe it's over. It's clearly one of my all-time favorites now. I believe that things do happen for a reason although we still have a level of control. The movie really inspires. Kate Beckinsale is wonderful to watch. Her facial expressions and subtle behavior during the scenes were phenomenal. I look forward to her other films. She has won a fan for life.

One side comment with respect to Greg Hammond's review about lacking content. There is a snowflake that can be selected on the DVD to reveal another screen which contains the additional material he thought was lacking. Ironically, I found it serendipitiously! It's not a clear selection on the DVD but it's there! What a pleasant surprise! Great stuff

Summary: The Best Chick Flick
Review: I have to admit I am a softie when it comes to chick flicks but everyone should like this one because it is so good it is one of the few chick flicks in which I actually cry at the end of. The story is that these two people Jonathon (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale) meet at a store when it is about to close and both want to buy the last glove in the store so they both buy it and then go off and have the most romantic night ever ice skating, eating ice cream, talking, then she decides that if they are meant to be together then something will happen she gets change for a dollar and the dollar has his name and phone number on it and she sells a book to a used bookstore that has her name and phone number in it. But can these to people destined to be together find each other again only time and fate will tell. I would recommend this to people eleven and older because this movie does have a little sexual dialouge but nothing to bad and some language other than that it is fine for everyone to watch. I hope that this review has helped you in making a decision about this movie.

Summary: Love this Film
Review: This romance flick is simply irresistable and so romantic! I could watch all over again this movie. The settings are absolutely fantastic, New York is the right choice for filming this movie. The atmosphere in New York is lovely indeed that one cannot help but to really fall in love with the ambiance that the city gives.

What makes this film charming? The casts are wonderful and incredible, John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are the newest silverscreen's sweethearts...they truly blend with their own wit and charm. The supporting casts are great, Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon added more fun and twist to the movie. So far, 'Serendipity' maybe included to one of the best romantic films ever made...what can you ask for? Romance, humor, charm, destiny? They are all here in this one sweet movie.

Summary: When good actors make average movies...
Review: This film gets three stars based on the actors in it and the fact that if you don't try to look to deep into it it is reasonably entertaining. But, ultimately, this is a very average film. Cusack and Beckinsale have both done far better work and no doubt will do better work in the future.

Kate Beckinsale's charater is big believer in fate, so when she and Cusack meet briefly and they seem perfect for one another, rather than continuing to explore a relationship, she leaves her number in a book and challenges him to find it. Naturally, he loses track of the book and, consequently, Kate. Several years later, he is on the verge of marrying someone else but wants to take one more shot at finding Beckinsale. Jeremy Pevin, a very underrated actor, aids him in his endeavor. Naturally, it all ends happily.

Unfortunately, the setup of the film is so overly contrived that you just find yourself asking, "couldn't somewhat have come up with a better storyline?" The film is saved by winning performances, but it remains an average, run-of-the-mill romance, at best. Even my wife, who usually loves this kind of film, was unimpressed.

Summary: Destiny?
Review: Saw the movie with my wife when it first hit the theatres. Bought the DVD for my soulmate recently... destiny? I dont know what my destiny is anymore... there are so many signs for me to be with my soulmate, my heart already no longer at home... what should I do? I think I'm destined not to be with my soulmate, at least not in this life.

Summary: Good Movie, but where is the stuff?
Review: Great movie and good job by the director, but my complaint is where is all the stuff First: director commentary track with peter chelsom. And the deleted seens. But no porduction diary, nor behind the seens look into making of the film.
Now if your going to sell a movie miramax, make sure you have all the stuff on the dvd. I was every dissapointed with it.
