Summary: A Chick Flick But Guys Will Enjoy It
Review: This is one of my very favortie movies off all time! If you are renting this than rent An Affair To Remember and watch it first. It makes Sleepless in Seattle easier to understand. This is a hilarious movie from start to finish! I love the part when Rita Wilson & Victor Garber come and visit and she starts talking about An Affair To Remeber! That part is so funny!!! This is a chick flick but guys usually enjoy it! Most people will enjoy it!

Summary: All the elements of a fine romantic comedy
Review: Sleepless depicts a story of romance the way many of us (men included) would like to see it. A guy that's being torn-apart inside after the loss of his beloved wife (cancer) moves himself and his son from Chicago to Seattle in hopes of making a fresh start; he ultimately realizes that, irregardless, the move has not put him any closer to recovering from his loss. This is brought to light not only by the phone conversation with a national radio psychiatrist (which is what gets the ball rolling with Meg Ryan), but through the splendid choice of music throughout the movie that let's you really know what's going on in the characters' heads. You just can't help but smile at Hanks playing catch on the beach with his "son" to "A Wink and a Smile", performed by Harry Connick, Jr. I particularly enjoyed the discussion pertaining to "The Dirty Dozen" in response to the multiple "An Affair to Remember" references. With an all-star cast, terrific musical score (featuring the likes of Nat King Cole, Connick, Jr., Joe Cocker, and many others), and directing that reminds one of "When Harry Met Sally", "Sleepless in Seattle" is sure to please all.

Summary: A chick flick, but I liked it, too
Review: A woman who is about to be married (Meg Ryan) hears a recently widowed man (Tom Hanks) speak on a radio call-in program, becomes convinced that he may be her soulmate, and decides to track him down. This gentle romantic comedy has an old-fashioned charm that will appeal to many. In fact, the filmmakers acknowledge this traditional romantic appeal by consciously referencing and evoking the 1957 soaper, "An Affair to Remember." Ryan makes this film work; her character goes to a great deal of trouble and turns her life upside down on very slim motivation, but she is able to project a belief in the material that really made me think that she might be in the grip of fate. The whole thing culminates in a sweet resolution atop the Empire State Building, resulting in a satisfying film. The one sour note was the character of Ryan's fiancée, a Very Nice Man who is so wishy-washy that his only reaction when Ryan walks out on him during dinner is a sheepish grin; but then, I suppose such uninvolved blandness is what made it possible for her to leave him in the first place.

Summary: Sweet Love Story
Review: "Sleepless In Seattle" is one of the sweetest films I have ever watched. This film pays homage to the classic, "An Affair To Remember" in that two people meet on top of the Empire State Building and find true love.

This film is about a widower, Sam, whose son calls into a radio show on Christmas night and says that his dad needs a wife because he's lonely. Annie, who lives on the other side of the country in Baltimore, MD hears this radio program, and thus begins months of writing, traveling, and wondering.

This is a sweet film that makes you believe that you can not only find true love twice in your life, but you can also find it in the oddest of circumstances. I highly recommend this film!!!

Summary: Does this DVD have deleted scenes?
Review: Does this DVD have deleted scenes of Parker Posey? I know her scenes were cut, but maybe they were brought back for the extras.

Summary: One of my "perfect" films
Review: I only got this movie 3 days ago and I am already on the seventh viewing. I just love romantic movies with a happy ending. Although sex is the buzzword these days for most things, this film is notable for its absence as are most other things you might expect to find in a romantic movie.

So what is the attraction ? Well firstly two first class actors. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The storyline is such that they keep "missing" each other but getting occasional glimpses of one another. All the time I was willing them to meet even though it might shorten the movie. Without Jonah (Ross Malinger), Hanks' son, the movie would be doomed to failure since Hanks is no lady pursuer, but Jonah, helped by his little girlfriend mini travel agent make sure of success. This is supposed to be a chick's movie, but as a "guy" I just loved it. My guess is you will want to buy "An Affair to Remember" too to get a fuller picture. I just love movies with subtle little interesting things in them you miss first time round.

If you are looking for reality, this movie is not for you but if you want a lovely story with a happy ending it is lovely. Anybody whose marriage has been "magic" will identify with this film.

Summary: Perfect Romantic Holiday Gift

Summary: Bearable but that's it
Review: I rented it because I loved when Harry Met Sally, and I thought that the talent might spill over into this movie. Instead, this was a silly, predictable story. Really, is a child who lost his mother a year ago going to try to find his father a replacement? isn't the kid grieving too? He sure doesn't seem that way. What nonsense.

This is a good movie to skip. Rent it only if you want soothing background noise.

Summary: Just a Fantastic, Heart-tugging Flick
Review: Great soundtrack, good storyline, great acting - this defines this excellent flick.

Hanks and Ryan do their fine acting here as usual, with fine support performances.

The basic line of the trauma of loss of a spouse, and the grieving process of a son and father is exciting, since it typically is widows rather than widowers that get attention.

I especially enjoy the part where Jonah asks his dad if he believes in heaven, and reflectively he responds, "I use not to, but now I'm seriously considering it."

Well done throughout, to be enjoyed over and over. A keeper!

Summary: Hanks and Ryan together again
Review: Sleepless in Seattle is a great movie on many levels. It is basically parody on "Love Story" with a few changes. Naturally if you notice the cast you already have half of the formula figured out. But the beauty in this movie is in the details.
Story is that a widower moves across the country to Seattle to get away from old memories. His kid tells his story on a talk radio show and says that his dad needs a new wife. You hear heartstrings of women twanging and more than a few close in for the kill.
