Summary: Good fun!
Review: I really enjoyed this film. I didn't go in expecting it to be a life altering experience, I went to see it to be entertained. And entertained I was!Jack is playing....well Jack. He is good at playing Jack. But he was not the best thing about the film by any means. Diane Keaton was wonderful. She would just light up the screen and is such a natural. I wish Frances McDormand was in the film longer, loved her character. But the absolute surprise for me was Keanu Reeves. I thought he was wonderful in this film. Maybe he is starting to loosen up and go with the flow more now he is getting older, but never really being a fan of his at all (ok I loved Speed ;) ) I have changed my mind after seeing him in this. Can't wait for it to be released on DVD here in Australia, definately one for my collection!

Review: SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE is a lugubrious romantic comedy that at times doesn't know what to do with itself.
Harry (Jack Nicholson), a successful executive, is spending the weekend with his 30ish girlfriend (Amanda Peet) in the Hamptons. Erica (Diane Keaton), a playwright and the girlfriend's mother, comes to the house unexpectedly, meets Jack, and we're off.
The first section of the film feels like a manifesto, as the pros and cons of older men dating younger women is debated. When Harry has a heart attack and is forced to stay at Keaton's house things perk up a bit. The movie calms down and the two stars get a chance to shine. Keaton is very good as a woman coming back to life,and Nicholson, though asked to do less, has some good moments coming to grips with his age for the first time. The large cast also includes a loose Keanu Reeves as a doctor who falls for Erica and Frances McDormand,wry, as Erica's sister.
The last third of the movie is a bit of a ramble, writer/director Nancy Meyers can't tie it up as neatly as it should be. Throughout much of the film, the idea of older people being intimate is seen as weird, and indeed Nicholson and Keaton's sex scene is played very broadly. Still, they are both very appealing and transcend the material. Recommended for a date night rental. (Keaton deserves the Oscar nom, by the way.)

Summary: Disappointing romantic comedy.
Review: Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson are the leads in "Something's Gotta Give." Keaton is a fiftysomething divorcee named Erica Barry whose gorgeous daughter is dating a sixty-three year old Lothario and record company mogul named Harry Sanborn. Nicholson plays a serial dater who likes much younger women and cannot commit to a long-term relationship. When Harry has a sudden heart attack, he stays with Erica while he recuperates. Much to the couple's surprise, they are attracted to one another. Complications ensue when Harry's young doctor, played by Keanu Reeves, makes a play for Erica, who has been living a stable life as a single, successful playwright. However, this seemingly strong and formidable woman is so overwhelmed by Harry's affection that she suddenly becomes emotionally unglued. The script by Nancy Meyers is heavy-handed and reminiscent of many other movies about people who cannot see what is in front of their noses. Diane Keaton's character, Erica, spends most of the movie giggling nervously. Nicholson swaggers through the role of Harry with his trademark shades and smirks. I was most annoyed by this movie's antifeminist slant. Erica is so needy that she falls apart when her relationship with Harry turns sour. A sappy ending wraps the whole film up in a neat package. I love Keaton and Nicholson, and I have enormous respect for their tremendous talent. However, "Something's Gotta Give" does not do justice to these two wonderful performers.

Review: I just can't remember laughing so much at a recent movie! I was prepared for a slightly-deranged, lecherous, self-absorbed Jack Nicholson. I mean, what else is new? I was prepared for a sweet, bright, pretty Diance Keaton. She's a sweetheart, right? I wasn't prepared for the flat-out laugh-out-loud humor, irony, and wit of this charming comedy! Just so much fun...my wife and I were still chuckling as we walked out of the theater into the parking lot. I suspect that all baby boomers will get a big kick out of seeing this film - at home or in the theater! A terrific entertainment value.

Review: It's not a perfect movie(4 stars) but the fact is :these 2 legends on the screen at their very best is enough to make this movie a classic.It's sweet ,funny and mature.Just like Jack and Diane.

Review: "Something's Gotta Give" was directed by Nancy Meyers, who gave us "What Women Want." The common factor between the two films are that they are both about how men treat women. In this case, it is how an older man would treat a younger women, or vice versa. Or, that is how I thought of it as. Jack Nicolson and Diane Keaton star, and Keaton has a performace that is Oscar worthy all the way. I felt that way even before the nominations came out, and I still feel that way. I saw the film twice already, and have decided to voice my mind over it now. Jack Nicolson stars as Harry Sandborn, the owner of a successful hip hop label, and a person who dates women under 30. The only thing is, he is 63. His newest girlfriend is Marin, and the two go off to her mothers beach house for the weekend. It is supposed to be empty, so the two are surprised when Marin's mother Erika, and her sister Zoe show up. Erika is a playwright who wants to come for the peace and quiet so that she could write. She instantly doesn't approve of her daughter's relationship with Harry. The four decide to stay at the house, untill Harry has a sudden heart attack. The doctor helping him, Julian Mercer, is a big fan of Erika's work. But when releasing Harry, he falls onto the ground, causing Julian to not let him travel for a couple of days. The only place for him to stay is the beach house, and that does not sit well with Erika. When Marin returns to work, Erika and Harry find themselves alone with each other, and complete opposites. But as they are alone, they relize that they have much more in common than they thought. And when Marin and Harry break up, romantic feelings begin to develop between Harry and Erika, but problems arise when it becomes clear that Julian wants to become involved with Erika, and Harry does not want to switch his lifestyle when it comes to women. The only reason that I gave "Something's Gotta Give" four stars was because of the last few scenes. I don't want to ruin what happens, but I don't feel that it should have ended the way it did. It started as a great, orignal, hilarious comedy, and then by the end just became another one of those predictable comedies that stick with a formula. That's why I liked the beginning. It wasn't formula. But the end was. Although it only got four stars, I do consider "Something's Gotta Give" one of the most notable films of last year, and it was a good enough movie to see in the theatres, and see more then once. I really did like it, and Keaton should get an Oscar. This movie is fun from start to finish. ENJOY! Rated PG-13 sexual content, brief nudity and strong language.

Review: It has been a long long time since I have laughed so much! Fabulously Acted, Brilliantly Cast, A sophisticated comedy that leaves you feeling that there is an escape from the vacuous tripe that hollywood are passing off as comedy these days. Diane Keaton is stunning and Jack Nicholson is well Jack Nicholson! Keanu Reeves does romance better than I have ever seen him, Not a bit Wooden! The audience in the theatre were in fits of laughter! See it, See it, See it!

Review: The best I've seen in a Romantic Comedey in years, especially with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. I can honestly say Diane Keaton was Brilliant, caring, and amazing. Now Jack Nicholson was great, no surprises, he was Jack. To then see Diane Keaton acting with Jack and Keanu as a love and sex interest to them was fantastic. Also the bare it all scene by Diane was very surprising, hey if yah got it, why not show it. As Keaton said it doesn't matter how old a person is it is what you feel inside what counts. Diane is adorable, caring and loving and fell in love with someone who stole her heart. She couldn't have played the part any better as she made us laugh and cry as if it were real and she was getting hurt. When I heard her telling (Amanda)Marin, don't be afraid to let someone in ,I did and had the time of my life, go out have fun enjoy yourself, life is what you make it. I cried and laughed, overall I enjoyed this movie immensely, it was excellent.

Review: A super movie with great performances by Jack Nicolson and Diane Keaton. Keanu Reeves is nice in a supporting role. You'll laugh and me touched by some serious moments. And like another reviewer stated, its not too heavy. I guess the morale of the movie is that relationships are complex. However, if both parties keep an open mind and heart, magic can happen. Anyway, check this one out for sure Amazon readers. Jack can sure brighten up a screen as he ages just fine like a good bottle of wine.
