Rating: Summary: A magnificently life enhancing film! Review: This is a rare example of a film even better than the book, thanks to the magnificent acting of the cast and some slight improvements in where the book needed tightening up. You don't just have to be a chocaholic to enjoy this film - it is life enhancing, fun and simply beautiful to watch!

Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Movie Review: Its got to be one of best movies I have ever seen. I saw it for the first time several months ago and I thought it was good. Then I saw it again and liked it so much, I saw it three times in the same weekend. The music is also wonderful, I had to buy the soundtrack. I love Juliette Binoche in this movie, she is sweet to everyone even when they were hateful to her. Also love Johnny Depp in this movie, like always, he is a great actor. Everyone should see this movie at least once.
Rating: Summary: Mary Poppins re-visited... Review: Like Mary Poppins, Chocolat is a classic tale of the transforming power of the Feminine in the face of patriarchal oppression. The absurdly talented Binoche, Depp, Dench and Molina lead a cast made in heaven in this most magical of movies. Even on a simplistic level, this is a gorgeous love story which unfolds intelligently and concludes satisfyingly. Chocolat is also a visual delight and remains one of the most beautiful and well crafted films I have ever seen.
Rating: Summary: A sweet light comedy which melts in your eyes Review: Juliette Binoche plays a chocolatier who waltzes into a small French provincial town, set in the late 1950s, expecting to sweeten their lives with her confection, but ends up also threatening the grip of the town's mayor and cleric on its citizens (a very French political allegory). If nothing else, you will be drawn into the slow, sensuous magic of the chocolaterie which begins to transform the various town characters - a beautiful unmarried woman and her daughter, a cranky landlady, a kindly old man enamored of one of the older townswomen, and an old couple for whom the confectionery has an aphrodisiac effect. Johnny Depp, who plays a roguish river rat, Judi Dench, and Lena Olin, together with Binoche, form a grand cast who deliver a mild, sensuous comedy. Binoche and Depp form a great pair.

Rating: Summary: Deliciously Devilish Review: This phenomenon of cinematic excellence is a gorgeous film with fabulous characters that one grows to love. For those who think the title is spelled incorrectly, you are mistaken. Chocolat is French for chocolate. (The story takes place in France). Binoche gives an outstanding performance as an incredible free spirit who challenges the traditions of old. Johnnd Depp sizzles as hot as ever in another fantastic role as the mouthwatering "river rat" that captures Binoche's heart. Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Lena Olin, and Carrie-Ann Moss give outstanding performances in this charming film. Chocolat is truly delicious!
