Summary: Sweet
Review: An adorable film. I thought it dragged toward the end, but then picked up in the end. It is original and humane and sweet. I wish the world were made up of Amelies. We'd never have war nor cruelty. I know a 15 year old girl who looks and acts exactly like Amelie. I told her so. She said, "My mom tells me the same thing." I'd seen Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film "Delicatessen" after reading Mick Jagger say it was one of his favorites. I like "Delicatessen" but like "Amelie" even more. I want to marry Amelie!

Summary: Amelie is my favorite movie!
Review: I love this movie so much that until it becomes available, I plan to continue seeing it at the theater. I also bought the soundtrack to play at work because the music is amazing! The characters struck my heart deeply and I was very upset when the movie did not win at the Oscar's!I highly recommend it to anyone!

Summary: Academy Awards: 7th Circle of Hell
Review: How could this happen? I almost can't sleep at night thinking about this. Amelie won nothing. I already put absolutely no stock in American film awards, but this is a travesty of the highest degree. Amelie was one of only two films that I deem worth mentioning from 2001 (perhaps the weakest year in two decades of weak years). Amelie hit me like a shotgun blast. Call it the sentimentalist in my, but I was so affected by this film that I was high for a week afterwards. Being the angry youth of America this is a real feat, believe me.
Amelie feels utterly origional without striving, like the talentless hack Baz Luhrman. This is part of what makes it so refreshing after years and years of movies like Titanic, Armagedon, and all that "teen movie" rot. If you are left disillusioned after movies like The Fast and the Furious, go view this modern gem, and it will heal all wounds.

Summary: From the Telluride Film Festival
Review: I was lucky enough to participate as a student in the Telluride Film Festival's City Lights Student Film Program. The first night of the festival began with a staff and student showing (and was also the American opening) of Amelie. The theatre was howling with laughter and pleasure. The acclaimed Telluride Film festival was also first to debut films such as Life is Beautiful and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Draggon, and to me, those films are boring compared to the colorful and hilarious Amelie. If you have not already seen this, go to the theatre or buy it. It will be something that I will have in my favorite movie collection for many years to come.

Summary: A wonderful display of life
Review: this movie is the best movie i have ever seen!
and being 17 in a small town, in this day and age, i have seen a lot of movies.
this movie was really great because of all the colors that were used and the way the story was acted...thats too bad because when parents are gone all the time and girls dont like you because you look better than them( to some stupid boy) it is easy for me to get lost in a world of fantasy and escape my world of shallow california/american teens.
YOU SHOULD SEE THIS ONE !!!!!!!!!

Summary: Amelie
Review: I just enjoyed the move Amelie so much. I thought that the Cinematography was wonderful. All the vivid colors brought the world of Amelie to life before my and the rest of the viewers eyes. I liked the way most of the story was told out of Amelie's thoughts. This technique helped us understand Amelie. Amelie is a must see for everyone whether the understand French or not the subtitles are easy to read and understand!
P.S. The garden gnome was the best!

Summary: Life is Beautiful!
Review: "Amelie" is a wonderfully movie, easily in my favorite foreign movies of all time.... For fans of this director's earlier, darker works, "Amelie" contains many camera tricks that will seem familiar. This is not an insult because Jeneut & Caro movies are awe-inspiring. ..."Amelie" takes the director's genius with a camera and shows viewers the extreme opposite of his spectrum. This movie is vibrant in tone and color, full of beauty, humor, and romance. I won't forget this movie and its characters (including Jeneut regular, Dominique Pinon! I love that guy!) for a long time, and can't wait for this DVD!

Summary: AMELIE WAS ROBBED!
Review: Amelie should have won the Foreign Film Award, I don't know how in the world it lost! I mean, come on, another movie by two Bosnians nobody heard making another low-budget, low-watched,movie about the war in Kosovo. Amelie was truly inspirational, innovative, creative, moving film that as Gosford Park actor, Ryan Phillipe stated eloquently, "took me to another place and time."

I mean, I'm sure the Bosnian film was well done and all, but every year it seems there's a come out of nowhere film about a war in Bosnia by a couple guys whose names you can't pronounce being nominated every year for the foreign film category. Was
it the same guys doing every year? Was this a Randy Newman thing where if you keep on doing the same thing long enough, the Academy gives it to you just for the heck of it?

Sheesh, anyway, the movie is simply wonderful, innovative, and a refreshingly artistic movie that gives its viewers a break from the usual Tom Green High School Flick, Mel Gibson war-militarization-patriotism- flick, and the Jim Carrey is this funny flick. Is is unfortunate that the Academy did not recognize the groundbreaking film as such, but that doesn't mean true movie watchers can't enjoy it and treasure the beauty that film contains.

Summary: This film is so much more that it is given credit for.
Review: This movie touched me in a way that no other movie has. I loved every minute of it. After living in Europe for 4 months, I was longing for something that would take me back. I took some of my friends to see it, but one by one at different times so that I could see it again. Audrey Tautou is simply amazing. The music is perfect. The characters embody a part of all of us. This love story could happen to any one of us, and perhaps it will! After 5 minutes I didn't even know the movie had subtitles, the language is so beautiful, I now want to go learn French.
