Summary: Fantastic Movie
Review: This has been one of my favourite movies since I saw it in the theaters a few years ago. Obviously you cant use it as a rule-book on how to hack a system, if they did that the directors probably would have gone to jail. But, its a great movie with awesome characters and funny lines that you'll never stop laughing at.

Summary: Great movie, even with flaws
Review: I have watched this movie a bunch of times, and I think it's just as great every time. It's really funny, has a good plot, and a great ending. So what if the inside of a server of an oil company is like graphical... it would SUCK if they showed like: ellingson/home/pub/usr/GOD... c'mon now they couldn't do that so stop being babies cuz "i'm getting my degree and that doesn't look right." Think about this, the makers had like really expensive & slow pentiums or good 486s, so u must wonder how they did all that drawing and rendering. What's the difference between you watching someone on TV hacking in to some place saying "ls GOD" or "cd/GOD" than you just sitting there at his house while he does it bored out of your mind. Give the makers a little more credit. I'm STILL looking for some of those startup screens that they have on their laptops, but I'm about given up. This movie is great and I DEFINITELY recommend it to the fullest!! (It would probably be a 6 if I could...)

Summary: Beautiful Cinematography, Good Characters, Awesome Music
Review: The beauty in Hackers isn't the plot (which tends to be a teensy bit clicheed) or in the realism (which I think we can all agree is non-existant), but instead it's in the smaller pieces of the film. First of all, the movie has WONDERFUL cinematography. In fact, I've rarely seen anything to rival some of the scenes in this film. Plain and simple: It's beautiful. Also, the characters are all unique and fairly well-developed. Lastly, it has an excellent soundtrack. Actually, it has 2 excellent soundtracks out on CD (the first is better, btw). So don't watch this film to see an accurate portrayal of computer espionage, and don't watch it to see Oscar-winning screenwriting. Watch it for the ambiance, and you'll never tire of it.

Summary: A Good Movie if you can ignore the problems with it
Review: The movie it self is not that bad, fun to watch, but come on how many corp computers have a 3D system that runs like the whole world has a super super super computer. Last time I checked most corps used unix, linux, and some Windows NT. And the computers the kids used to hack the Corp computer could have never put out those kind of graphics, one kid used a 486 or lower, and looked at graphics a P3 might even have trouble with. So bottom line, if you are a hacker then watch and try to rember its fake, if you are a everyday person then watch the movie and say "hay cool, I wanna hack!"

Review: I loved this movie so damn much that it's not funny. I mean, okay, there were _some_ flaws in it, but then again it showed that humans, when working in groups, can acheive their desires easier. It shows to me that they were like ants, working together without bias, workig for the common safety of the team. I loved the inclusion of the _Mentor's Last Words_. I have that speech above my "'puter" to look at whenever I need "inspiration".

Summary: This movie kicked ass on most accounts.
Review: This is one of my favorite escape movies. The only drawback to it was the hollywoodism of the hacking world. the day i see a GUI that complex that runs that smooth on a corporate mainframe is when we're using far too many resources for looks. if you disregard the fact that it wasn't written by computer geniuses, it's a truly awesome movie.

Summary: A good movie..
Review: ..the real charm of this movie is not it's realisim. Once you suspend the reality of hacking (it's not 3d rendered browsing through super computers, and satelite hopping), you have a real nice flick with a decent message. Otherwise, the acting is quality, the music is very suitable(i bought the soundtrack, kickin party tunes), and the setting/cinematography is top notch.

I think 2600 said it best (paraphrasing) non computer users will like it for the story, hackers will like it for the message.

Summary: THIS MOVIE WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE -- Can't we give 0 stars?
Review: I have never seen a movie that was so inaccurate at portraying what actually goes on in computers. Hackers suggests that data on computers is actually held in strangely lit rooms with transparent boxes whose surfaces are lined with text that represents data files. When the hackers hack into something they are automatically presented with the most abstract GUI password prompt that I have ever seen (it looked more like a game than a password prompt). The worst thing was how the movie stereotyped hackers. It would have been one thing if the hackers had been true geeks: not that attractive, don't spend much time outside, don't have many friends. In Hackers, the computer hackers are more like punk rockers and ravers, since they wear so much metallic clothing and spend their time partying and talking about hacking rather than actually doing it like true hackers do. It is almost like a Lost Boys remake except with hackers taking the place of vampires. I am working toward my Computer Engineering degree, and if you have any knowledge of computers at all then don't see this movie. I thought of saying that the movie was good besides the infinite technological fallacies that it presented, but I can't. The errors are so numerous and repetitive that it ruins an otherwise lowly mediocre movie. I was absolutely disappointed with this movie after reading all of these 5 star reviews here on Amazon.com and then renting it for myself. Don't see this movie.

Summary: This is an amazing movie
Review: This is great. It shows the reality of hackers and not their usual corperet image. The acting is superbre, the efect are impressive but not over the top and the soundtrack is perfect.
