Summary: Mission Improbable
Review: Mission Impossible 2 is another one of those movies for those of us who appreciate a good explosion. It is obvious that the "storyline" is just an excuse to have gun fights and fiery explosions. In case you're curious, Tom Cruise is trying to stop a very mean guy from infecting a bunch of Australians with the deadly "Chimera" virus. I am sure that once the producers of the film finally came up with that idea, they said, "Oh boy! Time for guns and violence!" You will notice an excessive use of slow motion photography during the movie, ranging from a slowly-flying pair of exploding sunglasses to a slow-motion car crash on top of a mountain. This is THE trend in movie-making today, for some inscrutable reason. Now for the part we've all been waiting for, the mindless action. From blowing things up with mere bullets to exploding cars, MI-2 offers the most explosions in a movie since "The Delta Force." There is also a ridiculous fist fight at the end between Tom Cruise and...um...the Bad Guy. During this doom fight, each fool deals more blows to the other than Rocky and Ivan Drago did in Rocky IV. So many punches are thrown, in fact, that they probably could have destroyed a military tank with their bare hands if they had worked together. So buy some Skittles, get a big Pepsi, and watch this hilarious flick!

Summary: Tom Should Leave the Martial Arts Alone
Review: From the very beginning, I knew it was going to be a long, unenjoyable flick. MI:2 is a combination of a James Bond/Jet Li wannabe that just doesn't measure up to the price of a theatre admission. Anybody who can truly appreciate the martial arts knows it requires grace -- Tom looks like a monkey; a romance that doesn't light anybody's fire; and stunts that not only defy explanation, it flies in the face of common sense. I mean, come on!! That motorcycle scene was a stunning achievement of stupidity.Don't get me wrong, the film wasn't entirely without merit - it allowed me the ability to buy movie popcorn. But if you can pass on high-cholesterol, wait until it appears on your local TV channel.

Summary: Great trailer... and then... still waiting... the end.
Review: Unfortunately, this is one of those films with an awesome trailer but the rest is medeocre. The action was very impressive but so over the top it made it hard to believe and therefore a waste. The lack of meaningful character development leaves you with a vague recollection of bland and amorphous action figures. Real people (especially over-achievers) are quirky and full of flaws. I didn't see any so I had to put Ethan Hunt and his lust interest in the "plastic" catagory.

Summary: Worth a rental or seeing in theaters, but dont bother buying
Review: First, let me say that this certainly was an exciting movie. Unfortunately is suffers from Goldeneye 007 syndrome. In that popular n64 game, anything, a computer, a crate, or even a bookcase will explode if you shoot it a few times. The same is true in this movie, every car crash, bike crash and bullet ricochet creates a fireball that ignites the bad guys, their vehicles, and New Mexico, yet miraculously spares Tom Cruises hair. The good guys have the amazing ability to outrun explosions without getting singed. The plot was the opposite of the first's: a coherent but very predictable plot as opposed to a complex but incomprehensible one. It's always possible to predict exactly what is going to happen next. There are no sudden revelations to shock or surprise you, probably an intentional move after the fiasco with m:I 1.The movie ends in a (believe it or not) fist fight between the main good guy and bad guy, who's name I didn't bother to recall. It's only worth buying if you're really into movies where 30 "elite henchmen" with machine guns can't hit a protagonist with a pistol. Otherwise, just see it in theaters or wait to rent it.

Summary: John Woo's Mission:Accomplished
Review: With John Woo at the helm and Tom Cruise revamped from wimp to badass, the combination definitly make mission:impossible, mission:accomplshed. This movie takes hold of what the film should have been in the first place, high end action and adventure with a hot babe in it. John Woo and his classic, unmistakeable style makes this film stand up and take a life of it's own. This is a must see movie with an unbelieveably nice soundtrack. Go see it!!!!!!

Review: Both MI2 and the first movie themes deal with bad apples in the MI team with one member acting like Rambo in direct conflict with the bad guys. The original TV series dealt with a team working together to set-up and trick the bads guys into screwing themselves. While a great action movie, it is not a Mission Impossible movie

Summary: disappointing
Review: After the first few minutes of the film, I noticed that the essential plot is a shallow, mainly unexciting rip-off of the far superior Bond film Goldeneye. Cruise and Scott play former untrustworthy friends and rival secret agents who are now on opposite sides. Cruise is his usual bland, shallow self, trying to be pretty but wearing a scruffy unshaven look that's outdated and gives the impression that his character has a problem with personal hygiene. He relies on stunts to be dynamic since his character is flat, although most of the stunts have the look of something from TV's Hercules or Zena, the actor being suspended from unseen cables. Scott is clumsy in a very uneven roll, a villain who is neither charming nor menacing. He seems to merely have mood swings, none of which are at all interesting, and to be fussy over his clothing. One minute he's pining for the heroine, the next he's trying to cut off his friend's finger with a cigar snipper -- silly stuff. Thandie Newton is introduced to Cruise as a competent international thief, but she turns out to be a male-dependent bimbo/victim who raids Brittany Spears' wardrobe. She is a throwback to the old Hollywood concept of women. She's compliant, doing everything Cruise tells her after one night of possibly steamy off-camera love-making. Newton is given few lines as well -- her scenes mainly rely on her staring solefully from big brown eyes or tossing her stringy hair at Cruise. Oh, where are the Emma Peel's of the world? The scenes where Anthony Hopkins steals the film from Cruise put him in a terrific and memorable minor role -- although he gets only about two minutes of screen time total, which is too bad since he'd have been smashing in a larger role as the good-guy villain like Bond's "M", if only Cruise and Scott could have played their roles with some power and skill. The scenery is beautiful, which should increase tourism to Australia, and there were some great flamingo dancers in the tavern scene. Otherwise, the film is not exciting. The high tech stuff is romanticized and unrealistic. The typical face changing masks of the MI series are present and annoying. Sorry, but Scott and Cruise cannot be mistaken for each other, even under a mask -- they have a noticeable difference in height and build. When the action on screen gets really dull, the soundtrack is spiced up to make you jump. Contrived. But the film should do well -- it has great publicity and in America, the films of least merit are generally the most popular, reflecting the growing loss of discriminating taste of the film-going public.

Summary: Don't Expect a Mission Impossible Movie, Expect a James Bond
Review: What derivitave dribble. From the painfully obvious Notorious (Alfred Hitchcock-directed, black-and-white espionage movie with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman) references (from the whole spies-in-love, former lover angle to the balcony and racetrack scenes) and Matrix rip-off action sequences, this movie reeks of unoriginality. And unbelievabilty - Cruise climbing a cliff without any ropes (on his vacation, no less), riding a motorcycle as if it were a horse, and dodging a hail of bullets with incredulity-inducing acrobatics. This could be Tom Cruise's action series - it's more high-tech James Bond than Mission Impossible (when Tom Cruise introduces himself to Thandie Newton, I was almost disappointed that he didn't say, "Bond. James Bond."). The only redeeming qualities are Thandie Newton (as Nyah, Cruise's love interest) and Ving Rhames, returning from the original, but with a smaller part as the team's (or should I say Cruise's) technical/gadget member. Of course, everyone gets to be involved with at least one explosion. John Woo is simply not an "emotional" director, as evidenced by the simply silly white dove that - in case you had any doubts - shows Cruise as the hero. Wouldn't want any of the audience members to actually think, would we? Nor does Woo handle any semblance of a plot very well - while the masks used by the IMF team are cool, here they're used as a major plot device. It doesn't help that the plot of Mission: Impossible 2 was conceived around a handful of action sequences Tom Cruise and John Woo had already thought up. All this adds up to a movie that is a major disappointment and has Bruce Geller (the original series' creator) rolling in his grave.

Summary: Wrong Idea!!
Review: For an action movie, it's enjoyable. But I always expect "Mission: Impossible" is about a team of spies working together to mess up an organization of some sort. MI-2 is just another one of those action flicks. I still like it much better than MI-1, where Jim, played by John Void, turned out to be a bad guy. To me, both of them merely stole the Title to make money. And I was very disapointed. It is indeed hard to replace Martin Landau and Barbara Bain...

Summary: Mission Impossible 2
Review: This movie has been the best one i have seen in my entire life time. Tom Cruise is perfect for the part of Ethan Hunt. He does many of his own stunts. And i am glad to see that Tom cruise, being as good an actor as he is that he does some of his own stunts. Since many people just act and don't try new things i think Tom Cruise is a good role model for actors in the making. I would also like to add that the special effects are incredible. It is much better than the first one . so i think that you should definatly consider this movie when you make yopur next trip to the theater
