Rating: Summary: Perfect Review: Perfect direction and excellent performances by the entire cast. This is without a doubt one of my favorite movies. Many people say that it's overlong, in my opinion there is only about 5 to 10 minutes that could be cut.
Rating: Summary: A True Masterpiece Review: In Heat, which stars Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer, cops and crooks start from the same place, and satisfy the same impulses through separate, opposing means. Both are drawn to the ``heat'' of violent conflict, both enjoy making the other guy into a patsy, and both are failures at integrating relationships and family with their addiction to danger. Set in contemporary Los Angeles, ``Heat'' stars De Niro as Neil McCauley, a brilliant, cold- as-ice career criminal who masterminds the robbery of an armored van containing $1.6 billion in bearer bonds. Pacino is Vincent Hanna, a homicide/ robbery detective with the LAPD who recognizes the work of a professional and spends the film's three-hour duration on De Niro's trail. Writer-director Michael Mann, the creator of "Miami Vice" and director of "Manhunter" and "The Last of the Mohicans," is a masterly image-maker. Mann binds sound, music and pictures into one hypnotic triaxial cable and plugs it right into your brain. He makes this almost-three-hour experience practically glide by. Along with the greatest cops and robbers shoot-out scene ever filmed, Heat is a masterpiece of cinema and one of the best crime drama's of all time. By all means, buy this DVD END
Rating: Summary: This is definately a good movie Review: In this great new movie Robert De Niro plays a serious and brutal crimanal that doesn't really like to mess around and is true to the game. Al Pacino plays a cop that is having troubles at home and will do anything in the line of duty. Val Kilmer play a ruthless criminal who is always first to shoot that plays on the same team as Mr. De Niro. In the movie Robert and the rest of the gang just robbed a bank and they are on the run from the cops. the cops don't have any proof that they did anything so Al gets to know Robert and they start to respect each other but let each other know that he will do anything in the line of duty. While Robert is also having problems with a former member of his gang that is trying to kill him. So watch this great thriller with stunning performances by Robert, Al, and Val.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating Review: A fascinating story. Ultimately the thief and the detective chasing him are pretty much the same type. Using similiar methods. The detective teams up with a SERIAL KILLER (Wayne Gro in the film) and a car thief in order to "get" to his main objective - the big time thief. Pacino as the detective embraces the mother of the murdered prostitute and comforts her, but later works with the killer... who is ultimately very justly killed by - De Niro the thief. Life shows us that right and wrong is very, very ambiguous. This is not something you are taught in school. I was taught that right and wrong are absolutes. This is why my young mind appreciated Star Wars so much. Darth Vader was evil and even said it himself, "join the Dark Side". Obi-Wan was loving and good. The hassle is that life isn't this way and this film, HEAT, remarkably shows that fact. The truth in the "big city of LA" or in reality anywhere, is that everyone makes choices and good/bad or right/wrong are only shades of grey, not absolutes.
Rating: Summary: Beutifully made film Review: Heat seems to have become a huge cultural peice in younger male culture. Every guy I talk to has a response along the lines of : "that's an awsome movie". I think that the two main figures-Mcauley especially- demand a huge amount of respect; both follow their own codes regardless of law, freinds, women, societal norms, risk etc... and that is something that young guys, stuck at jobs they hate, bored with home life, look up to. The action scenes are of course spectacularly filmed, but it seems to me that the charachters, perhaps more than anything else strike us men as heroic, yes even Mcauley, the bank robber. Mcauley probably more than the other charachters because of his immutable resolve, strenght of will and sheer audacity. Contemptuous of the average home life of "barbeques and ball games", he decides he wants something more and plans exaclty how to get it, letting nothing get in his way, something I'm sure that everyone can appreciate, at heart.
Rating: Summary: Geat Movie, Great Cast, and Great Sound! Review: This film without a doubt is a masterpiece. Seeing DeNiro and Pacino back together really sets the mood for this movie. Heat is your traditional cops and robbers movie, with great action scenes. The sound on the dvd version is spectacular, the bank robbery scene is excellent. The picture quality is clean and spotless. Great DVD! Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Your a fool if you don't own this on DVD! Review: The title of my review is pretty much self explanatory. If you really want to put your Home theatre system to the test, this is the DVD you want to do it with! You better get ready to duck for cover though, cuz when the shots start all hell breaks loose and it get's really intense. The main thing I loved about this movies was the brilliant cinematography. It was filmed all over Los Angeles and that is not an easy thing to do, so hats off to everyone involved in the making of HEAT. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Build Up To A Real Story Review: There are only a few words that I can really say about this movie and I can say "IT WAS AMAZING" I thought that the story built itself up to probably the most memorial moment in MOVIE HISTORY. A true masterpiece I must say!
Rating: Summary: pacino and de niro what else do you want? Review: ok, so two of the best actors meet face to face, but theres more, this film is great. I have no reason to feel that the film should have been shorter. At the end i knew both the characters, i lived with them and they were both great at what they did. To shorten the film would merely fall it short. Appreciate the beauty and intelligence of what happens. Hell, just have fun!
