Rating: Summary: swordfish Review: This movie has plenty of excitement and John Travolta and Halle Berry were the best bad crew I have seen in a while. I truly enjoyed the movie.
Rating: Summary: Action Packed! Lukewarm suspense. Review: I love it when Travolta plays a villian, especially a stylish one! And this was a stylish movie fit just for him! I also fell in love with Hugh Jackman in this one. He reminds me so much of a young Mel Gibson. Don Cheadle never gives a bad performance but if you want to watch Cheadle at his best, rent "Devil in a Blue Dress". I couldn't believe he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for that one. Ummmm...All I can say about Halle Berry in Swordfish is that it was odvious that she was NOT who the casting directors initially had in mind for her part. She really didn't fit into her role. It was like watching an adolecent girl trying to convince someone that she's "mature". Swordfish is nothing new to us action and suspense junkies and it's no "Usual Suspects", but it's nice to see all those stunts, those chases, and the sick "Matrix" camera angles during that bomb scene at the beginning! To sum it all up, it's worth a look.
Rating: Summary: Thank goodness for Hugh and Halle. Review: I can't understand why people think John Travolta is such an amazing actor. His last 3 films (including Swordfish), have been total nonsense. Hugh Jackman is an incredible acting talent from Down Under. I would like to see him flex his acting muscle and get out of these "Action" and "Romance Comedy" roles. There is alot of potential there and I hope to see more of him. Halle Berry is always nice to look at, but she has some natural talent behind it. Whether or not she is bare breasted is an irrelevant fact of the movie. The plot of this film is far too twisted and complicated to care about for 1.5 hours, and by the time the credits roll you are just thankful that it is over. Visual technology has gotten so advanced that it is difficult to beleive anything that is going on. If the film was set in another realm or universe that would be fine, but it is in L.A. I'll never understand why 8 people with machine guns can't shoot 1 person? No realism in this film what so ever. See it for Hugh and Halle. Not for plot or Travolta.
Rating: Summary: Premium Entertainment! Review: Billions of dollars, FBI, Hackers, and Underground agencies, all thrown in with chases, explotions and a bit of emotion and passion. This DVD is a MUST buy for anyone who enjoys premium action entertainment. The DVD was, however, a bit dissapointing that DTS wasn't included, but the commentery and alternate endings are terrific. Hell the whole movie kept me entertained for every minute, it was a very good movie. Hugh Jackman and John Travolta show great emotion and can expertly convey their feelings out to the audience. There is some revealing nudity in the film, so beware if you have children in the house or plan on seeing this with a date. All in all this is an excellent DVD.
Rating: Summary: Good who is doing what to whom Review: Good story, plenty of action and the acting is good too. A very enjoyable film. The alternate endings are interesting and worth a look. My copy is fair, the DVD has multiple blips and the color seems to red. I don't remember this in the film.It seems this is the ist issue and we will be seeing a "cleaner" release with additional items. Itis still worth the price and something you can enjoy many times.
Rating: Summary: "Swordfish"-Save us all! Review: Dominic Sena's "Gone in Sixty Seconds", and "Kalifornia" are fine contemporary American genre exercises(car-chase film, road movie). With all the Travolta scenery-chewing, we should at least be rewarded with action, but the first half of the film has none. Writhing in ugliness with no visible pay-off, "Swordfish" is a goldfish.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely horrible Review: This movie is insipid, stupid, and dull. When I saw Gone in 60 Seconds, I thought I had seen the worst movie I would ever see. I was wrong. Swordfish is all flash (and not really very interesting flash) and no substance: terrible plot, worse acting, and awful directing. Hugh Jackman's character "hacks" 128-bit encryption in mere seconds. Interestingly, in real life this takes hundred of SUPERCOMPUTERS months to do. I don't want to nitpick, but it wouldn't be hard to come up with plot elements that were more interesting AND more realistic.
Rating: Summary: Awsome... fast action~~ Review: This movie is by-far a great action film. It kept me on my feet from the beginning to the end. Its about a computer hacker that is on probation from previous hacking and was not suppose to do anymore, untill a hot lady came to his door step and offerd big $$$ to help hack into a goverment system called: code name: SWORDFISH. I dont want to spoil the action... but I will promise you that is a a sweet flick,,,, way better then any action film that came out this year by far!!!! Also another movie to view is called : FROZEN great movie also!
Rating: Summary: Bad timing =bad taste Review: A lot of people will probably vote this review "not helpful" but I'm posting it anyway: Normally I'd give this better-than-average thriller four stars. However, due to 9/11, this film is now more disturbing than entertaining. I know it had it theatrical run before the war but they should have sat on the video issue for another few months. Or at least re-eddited it. We don't need to see police being blown up or people falling & exploding in a movie when we can see the same things on the news!
Rating: Summary: and yet again Review: Can this man do wrong. John Travolta has shown us all that his acting days are far from over, since his true return in Pulp Fiction and here he is again in another fantastic film. Action great, suspense good and the use of a good old british sports car (TVR) marvellous. I cant wait for the next film. Action, Scenes, Chases, Story this film has it by the bucket. Watch it.
