Rating: Summary: One of the best... Review: Swordfish was not only one of the best movies of 2001, but it also gave us a cool look at the hacker world. John Travolta is awesome as the rouge secret agent man and I would give the movie 4 stars just for the Halle Berry scenes (she is a great actress too!). While we all know that the people that call themselves critics did not appreciate this film, most movie buffs enjoyed it. I must say, if you are a fan of a good thriller with some interesting twists, this is a great flick. The flythrough explosion scene was pretty awesome and the exhibition of gadgets and other cool items made this movie fun. This is on the top shelf of my DVD cabinet, right next to Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon, Pulp Fiction, The Usual Suspects and Blow. If ya liked those flicks I think you will enjoy Swordfish, if not sorry for you. =)
Rating: Summary: Great Entertainment! Review: While Swordfish may never be a contender for any type of award it is good, solid entertainment. It's the first movie in a long time that I've watched more than once. While this may seem to be a departure from most films where the bad guys lose you have to stop and ask yourself just who are the bad guys in this film. Either way, the view comes ot the winner on this one!

Rating: Summary: Different!!!!! Review: This is a stylish movie set in L.A., the film begins with Travolta ranting about Hollywood movies, although it seems boring at the moment, it soons picks up, & it is clear that a hold-up is taking place with Travolta very much in control of the situation, with helicopters, swats, & police surrounding him, we learn he has hostages, it turns out he is holding a bank full of hostages with armed explosives ready to detonate if his demands are not met,a swat fires & an explosion occurs, soon after the film is then told in a flashback 4 days earlier, Hugh Jackman is a would-be hacker that is recruited by Travolta & Halle Berry who somehow has a history with Jackman, it turns out that Travolta wants millions of dollars that are locked away in a secret government vault, but needs a code to hack into a computer system to find it, Jackman is a master hacker that he hires, Travolta is somewhat likable here, but it never really becomes clear who he is affiliated with, it appears he is a CIA operative that is presumably operating in our best interest, to make sure that national security isn't breached, but who is he, the viewer can only guess, Don Cheadle is here as a police detective who also has a history with Jackman & senses somthing going on, Jackman soon realizes that all is not what it appears to be, & soon wonders what he is involved in after witnessing Travolta's ugly side as he kills what he calls rouge agents, although the promise of a big payoff awaits, Jackman stays, & soon the film takes us to where it began with Cheadle trying desperately to negotiate with Travolta, Jackman meanwhile gets Travolta his money, it appears that it can only be done inside a bank, once done they leave with the hostages with Cheadle & Co. in pursuit, the film then takes a unique turn as the escape vehicle is a bus that is soon air-lifted high above L.A. onto a building that Cheadle soon takes command of, I won't spoil the ending except to say that it stills leaves you guessing as to who Travolta is, & Berry is also mystery in that it seems she is in cahoots with Travolta, where as in the beginning it don't appear so. The DVD has 2 alternate endings that should be seen, Jackman is about the only honest character here, with the exception of Cheadle, a well balanced film that screams sequel, but probably won't have one, If you like Travolta,Jackman,Berry,& Cheadle, you won't be disappointed!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Horrible waste of time Review: I find it hard to believe that some people can rate this movie higher than a 1. I'll admit it does have a lot of action -- so if all you want to see are some cool explosions and a cool car chase then sure waste your time on this movie. But in general the plot was not put together at all. Most of the action seemed completely pointless - as in the director was thinking "Oh this is an action movie - we need to put in a car chase somewhere - hey it can go here." The same thing for the nudity. While I know a big draw to this movie is Halle - it just seemed so pointless - as it really didn't add anything to the scene. There were several other places where they put shots like that in -- and there wasn't any reason for them. This was one of the few movies that I really wanted to walk out on. I didn't care about what happened - I just wanted the movie to be over with. There are many many many movies that are much better than this!!
Rating: Summary: One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Sword Fish Review: Well this movie start out with Gabriel Shear (JOHN TRAVOLTA) talking about how a good movie should end. That the bad guy wins which is something that never happens. JOHN TRAVOLTA plays a man hired by the gov't to rob banks to fund the war against terrorism. He and his partner Ginger (HALLE BERRY) need someone to get them access to computer securities by hacking into main computer systems of the Gov't and transfer the money. They find one of the best hackers on the planet, Stanley Jobson (HUGH JACKMAN). Which they use the fact that he has been ban from ever seeing his daughter, because of past run ins with the FBI from a hacking, to giving he the possibility of a new life with her only if he does what Gabriel and Ginger want. As the FBI close in not their plan the Gov't pulls out of the deal, but Gabriel will not stop the operation. It remain in full force as Gabriel takes over. It's kind of ironic because the operation is about being against terrorism yet but kills and terrorizes this bank in which he holds up and straps all the hostages in bombs. He becomes a terrorist himself. While talking with the FBI he ask them for a get away plane to meet them all at the airport and the FBI does they get in this bus that was metal wheel covers, so the tires can't be shot out which i thought was cool idea, and he takes them on their way to to the airport or that's what you think they end up making a detour and they hook up the bus to a helicopter and fly it into the city with the hostages and Stanley and Gabriel and his men. The copter lands on the top of this building where there is an awaiting copter to take Gabriel and this men away. Stanley gets one of the rocket launcher and shots the plane down and you think everyone is dead. Right? Wrong...later after everything seems to be normal you see Ginger, who was supposedly killed back at the bank, walk into a bank and transfer money from Gabriel's war against terrorism account to a different account. Then she walks to a boat where Gabriel is waiting for her and they go off. The movie was kind of weird but it kept me interested and that's the sign of a good movie. Gabriel did get what he wanted, the bad guy did win in away. The only problem I had with the movie was the ending, I would have liked to know what happened to the hostages. I think I would watch it again just because I want to know how Gabriel and Ginger are still alive. ...all is well that ends well~ Bebe
Rating: Summary: This is not Dilbert Review: Why is it that I always end up working for the Pointy-Haired Boss and never an employer like John Travolta's character? Actually, if the PHB were to employ the same motivational techniques, I wouldn't mind always working for the PHB and could probably cut back on the Prozac and Prevacid.
Rating: Summary: OH YEA Review: I work with computers for a living. this movie is great. John Travolta really rocks. I just wish I watched this in the movie theater. oh yea, and that one chick... well we'll leave that thought out. but yea. :)
Rating: Summary: A Better Than Average Techno-Thriller Review: A number of my 'non-technical' friends recommended this movie to me as one I would perhaps enjoy. Being the type of person who enjoyed "The Matrix" and numerous other similarly-styled movies, I thought I would give it a try. What I found was a movie that, for the most part was fairly enjoyable, it didn't quite live up to the hype. Sure, it occasionally flirted with greatness, but never got any farther. The movie revolves around a dual-plot of espionage and divorce, with the main character trapped in two very different worlds. The technical aspects (and flaws) aside, I felt the emotional development of the main character between his daughter to be rather weak. The viewer wasn't drawn into the story such that the suspense of the unknown was truly deep. Could I be a true geek and rip apart the movie technically? Sure, but what fun is that?! The only thing I will say on this point: the main character (a 'hacker'), NEVER uses the space bar. How real is that? If you want a fun movie with mutilple plot twists and turns with a somewhat disjointed dual-plot, mixed in with some very good special effects and rather cool acting (particularly with John Travolta), then this movie is for you. I enjoyed it, but am not in a hurry to see it again.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This movie is totally AWESOME!!!!!! Its chucked full of action! The plot is [good]!!...
