Summary: The best one Ever
Review: this is maybe one of the best movies i ever saw, the story, the music, the idea's they are all perfect. and we do'nt forget that graphics are one of the best. added to that those very small details wich has been taken care of makes it a really stunning movie.

Summary: Visual Wonder, Plot Blunder
Review: So director Tarsem Singh is a prolific visual artist that "bends" reality with his stunning visuals (who would ever forget those nightmarish landscapes or the severed pieces of that horse?), but with very little in plot (recycled elements of "Silence of the Lambs" to the morbid scenes and landscapes of "Seven")this movie is just visual nothing. Jennifer Lopez makes an attempt at playing a sympathetic child psychologist who wants to nurture the "Child" that's running around the serial killer's minds. And with the help of Vince Vaughn (who, of course, has an emotional stake to claim and emotional scars to heal) they enter the killer's world via a computer and rubber body suits (score one for originality). It is good to see that at least Tarsem is trying to make things different with his rare scenes of the mind of a killer and the forced strangeness (is Tarsem trying to be David Lynch?). Change is good, otherwise we'd just be seeing "Silence of the Lambs" all over again, just pick your leading female star, your tortured male companion, and a sexually confused psycho killer.

Summary: Visually amazing..otherwise lacking
Review: I remember seeing the first couple of previews for this movie and just being absolutely amazed and counting the days until is theatrical release. I went to the movie's website thinking "Wow, this is cool" and then the big night came and boy was I let down.

Visualy this moving is spectacular, amazing, awe inspiring, sometime disturbing, brilliant and any other similar adjective you can think of. Too bad the movie wasn't a silent film. Jennifer Lopez's acting left much to be desired, and the script was just not that good (I am trying to be a little nice here).

This movie had a lot of potential and could have been shelved right next to "Silence of the Lambs" if they would have just got some better writing and acting.

I will probably end up purchasing this on DVD just because visually this movie was so spectacular.

Summary: Some Great Visuals, But Not Enough Story
Review: After finishing watching this movie, I had to say Wow! I have never seen anything like this film. The backgrounds and visual effects beat most movies hands down. My jaw dropped several times. Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn give great performances in this psycological thriller about what it's actually like inside the mind of a killer. Some of this movie was disturbing, but that was what made this movie good. The only thing that held this movie back was the simplistic story. It's has that "it's been done before" kind of feel. But just for the acting and the stunning special effects, I would have to tell you to buy this dvd. You have definately not seen anything like it.

Summary: Disturbingly Beautiful...
Review: I am a big Jennifer Lopez fan. But it wasnt only her i just wanted to see. These twisted, demented beautifully choreographed movies, I am into. What they do to me is they give me a wake up call to the world that we live in and what sick, demented people there are out there. As I watched this movie I was very disturbed and attracted to the creativity of this film. Let me say this is NOT for everyone at all. I saw kids as young as 6 see this movie and I really feel bad for them. This movie will just make you think that there ARE people put there who do this stuff. Which makes it even scarier. This movie also just give you a different perspective of things in life. I was deeply involved. Back to the "not for everyone" quote, this movie contains very shocking images of how a person can and chooses to think. It has a very devilish and an anti-religion to God. So some people who are Christian AND Catholic may be deeply disturbed at the content of the images in this movie. I am Christian but I dont let this movie interfere with my religion. The story and plot is credible in that it follows through nicely and paces you through details of this movie. The imagery and content, like i said, are deeply disturbing and i know some people will not like this movie for that. Overall this movie is a movie in which not everyone will follow through at what type of beauty this movie holds for them. It give you a different perspective of the world and your world...

Summary: The Perfect Genre Flick
Review: The moment this film hits the screen, you are in the midst of a vast desert with Jennifer Lopez looking gorgeous in a dress. You see a little boy and a airplane. You're thinking, "great another Sci-fi chick flick." You are wrong, this is not a bad Sci-Fi channel cinema feature, this is The Cell. It is not the weak or squimish and it definately isn't the movie you should watch with your in-laws. No, this is The Matrix, Silence of the Lambs, and Total Recall in one. I have been a fan of Vaughn's for 4 or 5 years and I see a Jennifer Lopez movie just to look at her {that be a mistake, see Anaconda, yikes!}. Vaughn reminds me in this film of his works in Psycho as the irrational and rational Normal Bates but in this movie is more of his acting on a subconscience level. The effects are erie and top-notch, from the stairs in the killer's mind to whenever he rippes Vaughn's intestines out and puts them on an odd device. Oh yeah, this is a movie and a half. It is very complicated and hard to understand, it may even take you days to realize its true meaning. See this DVD and better yet buy it. This is one of the best genre flicks ever. I suggest you clear your mind and wait to eat until after this one.

Summary: More Questions than answers
Review: Will this win an Oscar? I doubt it, but I liked it very much! You know the plot, I asssume, from previous reviews. First of all this is a hard movie to describe because of its abstractness and allowance for variant perspectives on what it is trying to say or do or be. Doesn't good art let the observer think, imagine, and debate different viewpoints? I believe that The Cell , however explicit in its gory, shocking, and bizarre images , leaves the viewer with a plethora of plausable vantage points. Love it or hate it , weren't the mindscapes of the coma victims extraordinary? Reviewers have used the adjectives: awesome, thrilling, aestetic, brilliant, mentally ill, deranged, spectacular, beautiful, gory, stunning, shocking, and sick. WoW. What a lineup of adjectives! Controversial , sublime, or just plain fantastic, perhaps! The plot was a standard thriller plot with a standand thriller plot ending. But what stands out is the character development of the protagonists: Jennifer Lopez as the therapist and Carl as the bad guy. How many flicks go into the maze of mental corridors of its main characters like this movie does? Only one that I know of. In the movie "Silence of the Lambs" the audience gets a pretty good feel for the character of Hannibal Lecter. But In the movie "Seven" very little was revealed about Kevin Spacey's persona except for his gruesome method of killing his victims. And few movies can create such a realistic surrealistic sequence of images as this movie can, drawing upon I suspect: Escher Bosch , Sigmund Freud, and Salvador Dali. Perhaps this is a Dali painting on wheels and in motion? What intrigues me is the origin of the image of the forest or grove in Lopez's mind near the end of the film. Does anyone have a clue what that was all about? Sorry for all of the questions but this film , in the end , is more implicit than explicit.

Summary: Stay away from this one...
Review: This must easily be the dumbest movie ever made. If one didn't have the pleasure to look at Jennifer Lopez - it would be unwatchable. Unfortunately, the mind of the director works very much like the mind of the perverted serial killer - he enjoys showing a girl drowning in desperate circumstances; and the one moment which would be really interesting to see, where Jennifer Lopez is supposed to connect with the kid, she is all hiding behind operatic costumes... most of the audience walked out of this one, when I saw it in the theatres. Tarsem, the director of the movie, is a world reknown commercials guy. But unlike Spike Jonze, who's in the same commercial league but did not opt to bring amazing but meaningless imagery to his first movie (BEING JOHN MALKOVICH), this director indulges in his images and pays scant attention to story, characters, empathy and believability. Ultimately, it's a forgetable and soon to be forgotten attempt.
