Summary: Outstanding
Review: Its not very often that you see a film that has gore, swear words, nudity and has a good plot, but The Cell contains it all. Jennifer Lopez is a psycologist who is asked to enter the mind of a psycopath who is in a coma.(due to the FBI wanting to find the location of his latest victim) When Jennifer is in his mind is when the film excels, the special effects are brilliant, there is lots of gorey moments to keep more than the casual fan happy. The Cell is a film that i wpuld recommend to anyone as i dont think it got the reaction that it deserved. Top Film!!!

Summary: Disturbing But Beautiful
Review: First off, the premise of this movie is very sketchy. The idea of just hopping into someone else's dreams in this fashion is straight out of some B sci-fi flick. Combine that with disappointing performances from some good actors and you'd think this movie would be relegated to the bottom shelf at the back of a bad video store. However, this movie has one redeeming feature that makes it at least worth watching if not owning: it is absolutely beautiful. From the endless desert plains in the beginning, to the mechanical depths of the killers mind, the computer-enhanced cinematography depicts a dream better than I thought was possible on film. Admittedly these are some sick and twisted dreams, (the faint of heart should look elsewhere) but they are made compelling and real by the great camera work. For this alone The Cell is worth it.

Summary: A Good Movie
Review: Hey I just watched the Cell and it was a good movie. It turned to have a good plot. To parents: There is some nudity and foul language which makes the movie R. Good movie though. If you like Horror, Suspence, and Drama, get this movie!!

Summary: Sweet Movie
Review: This video is like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on Crack. Any Nine Inch Nails fans here? This video will seem all too familiar for anyone who has seen the video to 'closer' The movie has a beautiful actress, wonderful special effects, and a plot that is good (not the best plot I've ever seen). This Video is brave in going into twisted and wierd aspects of a serial killers mind. Overall, I am a very picky movie watcher. I've only seen about five great movies in my time... The Matrix, Happy Gilmore, Fight Club, Star Wars (as a whole), and The Cell.

Summary: Mind Forged Manacles
Review: This trippy, surreal horror film is one of the best of 2000. There are scenes in here I guarantee you have never seen in any other film, despite the old plot of finding a serial killer. Lopez is a little stiff, but has the right look to pull this off. I highly recommend this to everyone.

Summary: Fabulous masterpiece! Alittle twisted , and Very Artistic!
Review: I loved this movie! It is one of those "what if?" movies. What if you could go into people's dream worlds? What if that person was a pshyco serial killer? Through this movie you can go into people's minds and see their deepest souls. It is scary, twisted, and Extremely well made. The acting is fabulous, but that is not the reason to see the movie. This films best quality is the art of film making that is used. The costumbes, the sets, the over-all portrail of the dream world. I would recommend everybody to go see this movie. Their is alittle bit for everyone. I am not guarenteeing that every one will enjoy it as much as I have. But who knows it might supprise you. I never heard much about this movie in the theatre and I am dissappointed it was not as popular as it was. This is exactly the movie I love, horror, Sci Fi, Fantisy, Artistic movie. "Matrix" mixed with "Fantasia" and "What dreams may come" with a "silence of the Lambs" plot. If you liked any of these movies try this one

Summary: For those who thought "Silence of the Lambs" lacked style
Review: The Cell has some of the greatest visual effects I've seen since "Natural Born Killers." The story may seem like it has been done before: Get to the mind of a serial killer to save the final victin, but it truly does have originality, even if it only is in the visuals. But WHAT AMAZING VISUALS! As for the content of the visuals...well, let's just say those who are fans of "Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom" will be pleased. Not that anything as repulsive as the imagery in "Salo" occurs in this film (if that were true, this film would not have been released - Check out "Salo" here at Amazon and find out why it is no longer being distributed). Though, don't be fooled. The imagery in this is very, very disturbing. Take, for instance, the scene in which the killer is levitated above a dead body from steel rings that had been placed in his back. This is not light-hearted stuff. It only gets more disturbing as Jennifer Lopez enters his head. That concept is one of the more unique elements of the film. The ability to enter the psychosis of a killer is very interesting. But, granted, some people will find this illogical and moronic. If you are a fan of logic, and well thought out plot, there is still more than enough cinematography to go around. I myself find this story to be more fascinating than that of Silence of the Lambs, and definitely more engaging. Plus, the eye candy adds to the movie's shine. It is a masterfully done work of cinema that always seems to evoke very extreme reaction from people. You will either love this or hate it. I myself love it, but it is a very aquired taste. You may respect the visuals and hate the movie that surrounds it. I think it has enough of everything to satisfy. Great film making from Tarsem. He has always had a nack for stunning visuals. He has shown this talent in his music videos (i.e. "Losing My Religion" from R.E.M.) and now he is sure to become a formidable talent in the motion picture industry. Take a chance on this one. You have a 50/50 shot of either enjoying yourself, or praying for it to be over.

Summary: The Cell DVD
Review: Well, looking at some of the 180+ user reviews, this film has generated some strong reactions pro and con. For me, the movie is cinematic eye candy. Director Tarsem Singh brings his Indian (as in subcontinent) sensibility to this very American serial killer movie, and creates a visual feast. The DVD is beautifully done, with deleted scenes and 2 rich commentary tracks. The cinematic work is excellent, and Jennifer Lopez gives a stellar performance as a psychotherapist mind-melding with a psychotic to find his latest trapped victim. The suspense and story-line is well-paced, and the mind-melding scenes are extremely artistic. The dream-like sequences give Jennifer Lopez an excuse for numerous lovely costume changes, but the concept works, and the film rocks! Vincent D'Onofrio, probably the Lon Chaney of our era, turns in another bravura performance as the psycho killer. Special mention must be made for the performance of Jake Weber (Lt. Hirsch in U-571) as Agent Ramsey. Weber is a very accomplished actor, who played a very smooth and believable FBI agent. I hope we get to see more of him in the future.

Bottom line: Great film, buy this very detailed DVD. The versatile and talented J.Lo racks up another hit, with a well-rounded and talented cast of supporting players.

Summary: Stunning visual effects, but why bother
Review: Very lame plot, very sick themes. Extremely unpleasant to watch, although you gotta give'em some points for creativity and art! I basically "walked out" on this DVD (in my own living room) and will be giving it away soon. Which means it wasn't bad enough to burn, but I know I'll never see the last half!

Um, by the way, do they find the girl?

Summary: The Cell, A Total Mind Trip
Review: Working at a video store I get to hear a lot of peoples opinion's of movies. The Cell has been one of the most argued upon movies that I have seen to date. Most people I talked to either loved it or hated it. As for me, I loved it. The style of filming in The Cell is just spectacular. I do have a few complaints about it. In sci-fi films I like to see stories that are very realistic. I need to watch it and think to myself that is an unbelievable idea, but it just might happen someday. The Cell left me feeling a little dissapointed in this area. The basic idea is good, but a lot of the events that happen are just not believable. The idea that an FBI agent with no training in either psychology or in VR can just hop into a suit and go running around in someone elses brain is just to hard to accept. Other than that I think it was a great film.
