Summary: The General's Daughter
Review: The General's Daughter, promised to be the next great action thriller from John Travolta turns out to be nothing more than a sick perverted twist on films that ended like it, such as L.A. Confidential. Anything and everything is shown in this film, from sadmasicism, to rape, to a woman (The General's Daughter) sprawled out for all too see on the ground. The story plays out fairly well the first half, The General (played by James Cromwell) has ignored his daughters rape for years, so that he can move ahead in the military. John Travolta comes in to investigate something, does anyone know? Well besides the obvious, with the exceptions of a few good performances by, James Woods and Travolta, this was a very poor movie, and sick in my opinion. I left the theatre with a very bad taste in my mouth. My advise, by Phenomenon!

Summary: A Good Movie
Review: I, for one, really enjoyed watching The General's Daughter. After reading other reviews, I'm under the impression that many other viewers did not. Now, I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I cringe when I hear the word "clumsy" used to describe this movie. I read the review written by the Amazon employee (first putting into play the word "clumsy") and sure enough, that not so original word was repeated continuously by numerous other reviewers. (typically three sentences after ranting about how "unoriginal" they thought the MOVIE was) Now, if there's one thing The General's Daughter ISN'T, it's clumsy. With an impressive cast, and a well written script, this movie delights the viewer with every plot twist. The ending is exciting, and changed my outlook on the entire movie. I would have lost so much of the movie if I had known the ending before hand; perhaps some of the angry reviewers had an annoying friend that ruined the movie for them by giving away the ending. Overall, this is a can't miss movie.

Summary: Injustice to Military Justice
Review: Forget for a moment Travolta's poor acting and the deadpan reading by the title character, forget the numbingly overwrought script; simply put, military justice does not work this way. Whoever wrote this tripe knows nothing of the UCMJ, the code of laws governing military personnel. Despite Travolta's statements, you do have the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney, etc. Garbage. Additionaly an injustice is done to victims of sexual assualt. The psychological trauma involved with such a heinous act is treated in a bloated, cavelier and compassionless manner. This movie angered me for the obviously offhanded manner with which it treated these topics.

Summary: Travolta is good as usual, and great music!
Review: A very intriguing plot, good acting, and a great musical sound track make this a much better than average movie. It kept me in the dark (literally and figuratively) to the end. Part of the intrigue is the fact that most of the movie seems to take place at night, and the addition of the unusual music adds to the mystique. I immediately purchased the sound track on CD. If you just want to watch a good thriller-mystery, and especially if you like John Travolta, give it a try!

Summary: Disagree!
Review: I have to disagree with some of the reviewer's that left their message. One writes that Cap. Elizabeth Campbell shouldn't have been so perky and happy because she was raped 7 years earlier and that she slept with half the camp.... I must disagree on that because the mind can really play tricks on you and having gone through such an expierience, you tend to put it in the back of your mind and pretend that nothing happened. Since she tried to please her father, she did a good job on that, but her concious didn't let her, so she acted out the way she did. I don't think she was happy or perky when she helped John Travolta with his tire, that was a way to lure him in and do what ever she wanted to do with him. It's clear to see on those video's that she prefered the kinky side and needed that controll. Maybe watch the movie again and observe. I thought it to be an excellent movie.

Summary: A four star of a thriller
Review: Simon West (Con Air) is a great director, and his moives are alway well presented onto the screen. The General's Daughter is no expection, its a good movie, with a very strong cast. The film stars John Travolta(Army investigator), Madeleine Stowe(CID officer), James Woods(Gay officer) and James Cromwell(The General). Travolta is basically investigating the murder of the General's daughter, which may lead to the fall of her father's career. The story finally brings around the question to Travolta, if hes either a police offier or a soilder. The story is good, acting very good and direction even better. An above average thriller. The DVD offers a few features, most notable the deleted scenes, and as usual you can see why the scenes were deleted. A good DVD too.

Summary: Another conspiracy theory
Review: This movie has a excellent plot to it with all kinds of twists and turns, it really gets you thinking. This movie never gets boring and the plot just keeps on thickening. John Travolta just is brilliant in this movie, and I never saw James Woods better either. One last thing the ending is very very shocking and thats when the truth comes out.
