Summary: This movie was the best horror thriller of all time
Review: It was totally awesome. Anthony Hopkins gave the best performance of his career as Hannibal Lector. Jodie Foster was also excellent as Starling. I can't wait for the sequel.

Summary: Lame
Review: This may just be the most overrated film of all time. Hopkins is unbearably hammy, and Foster's wretchedly phony "Southern" accent grates on the ear. The script and direction are simply dreadful, and the plot is inane. An incredible bore, from start to finish.

Summary: Criterion... enough said
Review: Criterion is my 2nd favorite disc manufacturer (New Line is #1), part of that is because they always do a perfect job with transfers (Silence is no exception), but the majority of it is because they take the effort to show the movie as it should be shown. No 5.1 mix for Dolby Stereo Surround movies (the 3.0 (?) in Silence of the Lambs is excellent, though), always have the removed scenes, ad infinitum. This disc belongs in any collector's collection, both because the movie is first-rate, and the disc lives up to the movie's standards.

Summary: One of the best thrillers!
Review: Absolutely as scary a movie as Hollywood could ever produce. The acting, writing, cinematography, and dramatic lighting effects are awesome. The story, based on my favorite book by Thomas Harris of the same title, is incredibly chilling. FBI trainee Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) is assigned to an interview with "Hannibal The Cannibal" Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), who is, without a doubt, the completely immoral personification of evil. Hopefully, Lecter will aid in the capture of another grizzly murderer who skins his victims. The plot twists and turns as will your stomach. However the explict and grizzly visuals are sumptous rather than repulsive. However, this film still can not be recommended to the squeamish. Anthony Hopkins makes the most of his part and leaves you with an impression that will haunt you forever. If you like the movie, read the book alone in the dark, which will also send chills up your spine. Nightmares Gaurenteed!

The movie also won five accolodes from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Including Anthony Hopkins only Oscar which he won for Best Actor, and Jodie Foster's for Best Actress. It even won Best Picture of the Year.

Summary: Gotta Love the Extra Content
Review: This movie is one of my favorites, and the extra content on this disc more than justify the extra cost. The deleted scenes are interesting, as are the quotes from killers and FBI notes. But it's the commentary track that is the real gem. I always love commentary tracks, and this one doesn't disapoint. The only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars is the Audio track. While the quality is excellent, it isn't in AC-3.

Summary: The only movie to beat Psycho in my book!!
Review: Fast paced and riveting, it keeps your attention 100% through the whole movie. And the end!... what can I say?! Some of the best acting ever!!

Summary: This is Anthony Hopkins' greatest accomplishment.
Review: Anthony Hopkins is at his best in this thriller about a serial killer who keeps luring the police and FBI off course. Jodie Foster does an outstanding performance as an FBI special agent who uses Hopkins to catch the serial killer. I love this movie and I will watch it over and over.

Summary: excellent movie
Review: This is a great movie but why would they put this movie in wide screen. This is a big screen era and they have to make a lot of movies in wide screen. i am holding off buying a lot of movies because of this at least they should have two sides one for wide screen and the other for normal viewing. lets here from the rest of you maybe they will make them in normal format.

Summary: Worth the extra money for the added features.
Review: Without a doubt, one of the greatest American films of all time, Silence of the Lambs finds a fitting format in Criterion's feature-packed edition. If you haven't seen this film on DVD, you are missing a lot of the character of the settings. The darker, shadowlaced rooms are no longer difficult to see in, but maintain their menace. The dialogue springs to life without seeming either muted or overpowering with respect to the surrounding action. It is easy to become so engrosed in the conversations between Anthony Hopkins and Jodi Foster that you find yourself white knuckled during the most casual of exchanges. The climatic standoff between Jodi and the world's most unique clothing designer will literally scare you, no matter how many times you've seen it. The deleted scenes are interesting (but I always like deleted scenes) and the serial killer "confessions" are absolutely chilling. Criterion made a respected name for itself by producing high quality laser disc transfers of important and influential films. It's good to see that the level of care and attention to detail has carried over to the meticulous handling of "Silence of the Lambs" on DVD. Two Oscar winning performances, a superb supporting cast, cinemetography that defines the mood of the film perfectly, a score that follows that mood through all the peaks and valleys without flaw, and a format to let it all come together the way it was intended to...this disc has it all.
