Summary: A True Terrifying Classic!
Review: I was both surprised and happy when "The Silence of the Lambs" became the third movie in history(after "It Happened One Night" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest") to win the Top 5 Oscars. It truly deserved all 5 of them, especially Best Actor and Actress. Both Jodie Foster(who made Clarice Starling one of the best and most complex of all horror heroines) and Anthony Hopkins(whose Hannibal Lecter could be the most terrifying fictional psychopath in history) were absolutely brilliant in their roles and they are just 2 of the reasons why "Silence" has deservedly become a horror classic, alongside such other masterpieces as "Jaws" and "Halloween." I'm not sure if the filmmakers or Thomas Harris had this in mind, but I also thought that "Silence" seemed to have some similarities to the infamous Ed Gein case from the 1950's(which also inspired "Psycho" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"). John Landis thought this as well when John Russo interviewed him for his book "Scare Tactics." In some ways, I found the movie even more satisfying than the book(as well done as it is).

Summary: This movie is one in a million.
Review: The silence of the lambs is so good it is scary. Which it is. This movie is the scariest and most disturbing movie ever in my opinion. Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Hannibal Lector was the greatest performance by an actor I have ever seen.

Summary: Wonderful Movie!
Review: To the viewer from D.C, I'd like to say that 80% of the people I know have never heard of this movie, and the ones that have did not like it too much. But now I find that many people do like it, especially myself. But there are those who say that it is not worthy of 5 stars, and I disagree. This is the most awesome movie of all time, watch it and you'll see. The Silence of the Lambs is one of Anthony Hopkins' best performaces, though all of them are wonderful.

Summary: Anthony Hopkins best performance ever!
Review: Freaky, I don't want to give anything away, but trust me if you like to be mentally disturbed by a movie, get this one!

Summary: A hypnotic travel to the far corners of the mind.
Review: I have seen this movie a few times because once was not enough. Hopkins and Foster made this movie memorable. A great flick to see especially during the Halloween season.

Summary: No Doubt, Great Movie!
Review: To the reviewer from Florida. I've never heard someone refer to a movie that won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, plus a plethora of other awards, as under-rated.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Definitely the best movie of all time!!!!
Review: This gripping movie is no doubt my favorite movie of all time. Anthony Hopkins' portrayl of Dr.Hannibal Lecter was one of his best, and Jody Foster was terriffic. This movie is definitely under-rated and should be more well known. The camera angles, the superb acting, and the work that went into this movie make it one in a million.

Summary: Deserved all of the great "Top Five Oscars"
Review: Although this movie was extremely bloody, graphic, and had some scenes in it that should have been cut, it was still a great horror/suspense movie with a good plot. Unfortunately, more horror movies do not have the same qualities of this "Contemporary Classic."

Summary: appeasing
Review: the transfer is ok. the special features (with the exception of the "voices of death"- that was creepy) fell flat. as always, jodie foster + anthony hopkins transfer what could have been a horrible gross-out, rely on the gore horror movie into an exciting journey into fbi trainee starling's mind as seen through the ever so terrifying (but strangely appealing) eyes of dr. hannibal lecter. with the exception of the "voices of death" special feature, there's really no reason to get this in criterion. if you want to be terrified by the words of actual serial killers, buy this. if you don't, get the normal dvd.
