Summary: Best Movie EVER
Review: It has so many twists... you never know what will happen next!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Entertaining and Intellectually Challenging
Review: Just when you thought you had it figured out another twist would be added that would lead you on yet another wild goose chase. Each twist tops the previous twist and comes to a climax in the ending which is brilliant!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: brilliant plot and enthusiastic performances
Review: Michael Caine plays an uninspired playwriter, Christoffer Reeves is a young writer who has come up with an ingenious script. Caine desperately seeks a good play plot. That's the premises for this story - or is it! Great suspense movie with several intriguing twists. A perfect representative of the genre.

Summary: "Even a gifted director couldn't hurt it.."
Review: Movies adapted from plays may not always be "cinematic" in the traditional sense because they tend to only need one set. However, they can be very fun to watch because they allow actors to have great dialogue. Deathtrap is one such movie. Michael Caine gives one of his best, funniest performances as a washed-up playwright driven to murder. It is great to watch a great actor when he is finally allowed to ACT. The same goes for Christopher Reeve, who made this movie right after Superman. Here he seems more gangly than a man of steel (his stage training shows a little bit though).

If you are unfamiliar with the plot, I won't spoil it for you. It's just a joy to watch - great acting, great plot, and - most of all - great dialogue. The best I can say about this film is that it inspires me to write every time I see it.

Summary: Great Suspense!
Review: One of my favorite mysteries as the suspense builds nicely with lots of twists and turns to keep the viewer enthralled. This is Class A entertainment with fine performances from Caine, Reeves and Cannon.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A devilishly delicate plot!
Review: Pooh on you Leonard Maltin. "Deathtrap" is a movie rich in texture and plot. Although the film features three "big name" stars (which can often be distracting), the viewer still finds himself immersed in the film's characters. Plot twist follows plot twist, rushing toward an unexpected ending ripe with tension. Michael Caine was in some clunkers during this period; this is not one of them. An effectively irritating performance by Dyan Cannon, and Christopher Reeve in an unusual character perforance. Treat yourself to this film -- you won't regret it!!

Summary: Stage world adapted to cinema
Review: There have been many attempts to adapt stage hits to the cinema medium. Deathtrap is so successful in adhereing to the Aristotelian limits of time and space. The small cast is perfect. Christopher Reeve introduces the fact of being gay with very subtle body language, a fact which soon becomes a major complication in the plot. The twists and turns keep the viewer involved but not too confused, up to the catharsis of the ending. Masterfully done.

Summary: Drama, Comedy and classic Thriller all in one
Review: This film is a lost gem. It's not a well known film however if you take the time to view it, you will be impressed. Its classic who kills who and why mixed with twists that unless you have seen it before, you will not suspect what comes next. It is edge of your seat entertainment, Not a lot of blood and guts however it has tons of thrills. Caine's acting is up to it's usual high marks and Reeve is excellant as Caine's gay lover. I would have to say that Reeve pulls the roll off very well. The story is not a gay theme as you may expect, in fact the gay relationship is only one of many plot devices that weave the overall story.
The production quality is good and the film would be excellant for mixed crowds and enjoyed by all. If your looking for a gay theme movie this is a good film but not what I would consider a gay theme film. (...)
