Summary: Murder in Washington
Review: "No Way Out" stars Kevin Costner as Navy Commander Ferrel who is assigned as an aid to the Secretary of Defence Brice (Gene Hackman). Through a bizare coincidence, both end up dating a beautiful socialite (Sean Young). Then Brice accidently kills the girl, and immeadiatly covers it up by creating a Russian spy and say that he killed the girl. But by very wierd coincidence, all the evidence starts to implicate Ferrel. This is a very deep and thoughtful mystery, as well as one of the better, exiciting action thrillers. It has a lot to say about the curruption of power, and the blindness of love. I really do not want to give away too much, because it is a mystery and I don't want to give away the suprise ending that some people loved and some hated. I liked it, it was both out of left field and it seemed right. Just trust me on this, it is wonderful that really will leave you guessing right up until the end.

Summary: Heart quenching and suspenseful.
Review: After so long this movie has been out-of-print, I got this DVD the moment it came out in late April. No Way Out is simply one of the best Kevin Costner movies I've ever seen. I believe this was where he scored his first break as a talented action star with his sexy and heart throb good looks. The cover up story is very nerve racking that you can really feel the suspense around it. The movie runs for almost 2 hours and it takes you around the Washington DC area & the Pentagon and is worth watching over & over again. The chronology of episodes really intensifies the viewers until the whole cover up explodes at the climax. The movie also ignites with passion, as Kevin Costner fell for the Secretary of Foreign Affair's mistress played by Sean Young. Of course, Gene Hackman, one of the all time best actors around, also played a good role as the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Sex & politics is just a hot topic of our times and in the coming November 2000 elections especially when loyalty and integrity and devotion to your job & countrymen come into play. That's what this movie stirs some criticisms but not this extreme. It kind of reminds us of the Clinton-Lewinsky sex scandal. If you've seen Murder at 1600, you'll gonna like this one. The DVD is dual featured in standard & widescreen versions, theatrical trailer and a special "the making of" track. It is worth owning it.

Summary: Good suspense, excellent on first viewing
Review: An early Kevin Costner film which many argue is one of his best. Filmed in 1987, "No Way Out" focusses on a cover up where Kevin Costner is assigned to frame the wrong person. The problem is, he is the wrong person. He then has to find a way to identify the true killer while saving his own butt in the process.
Sean Young stars as an unconvincing lover of both Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman. As one reviewer said, she does not pull off enough charm to convince the viewer that she is worthy of such attention from these men.

How does "No Way Out" fare 15 years on? I admit, I loved this film when it first came out, but now it just reeks of the 80's. Bad music, bad costumes, and quite poor acting from Sean Young and Kevin Costner. Kevin comes across as if he is in a daze the entire movie. Still, for those who have not seen it before, there are some definite suspenseful moments.

DVD SUMMARY: An early DVD release by MGM, and despite it being labelled as "16:9 enhanced", it is not. Nevertheless, the picture is surprisingly clear for a film of its age. The sound quality is just average.

Summary: Clever Whodunnit ... With Kevin Costner?
Review: Back in the beginning of his cinema career, Kevin Costner made intelligent choices about the films he made, and NO WAY OUT -- to this day -- stands as perhaps his finest performance yet. This clever whodunnit very sparingly drops clues along the way for the most astute viewer, but, if you're watching closely, you begin to see things coming about for the Naval Intelligence Officer ... and, if you're really clever, you might guess the ending. A must-see for political thrill-seekers!

Summary: GOod and fast-paced, the action never drops
Review: But it is action with intelligence, not bubble-gum action like Hollywood always does. Costner, Hackman and all the cast is great, the ending is not very predictable. THis is the last good movie that actress Sean Young made.
