Summary: Ashley Judd is good! But the movie is not!
Review: It is in this movie that I got to know Ashley. she is the spotlight in it. It is a pity that Tommy Lee Jones did'nt give me a deep impression. So it is only a normal thriller with a little qualified actor.

Summary: The trailer showed most of the movie,DVD lacks features!
Review: If you've seen this movie and read the review of fine! The trailer for "Double Jeapordy" told the viewers the entire story! As for the DVD itself all you get is scene access, trailer and behind the camrea(which basically tells everyone the whole movie! ) I wish Paramount would start puttinf extras like commentey, pan/sca &widescreen, production notes etc.. that Universal,New Line and Warner Bros does to name a few ! My advice is if want this DVD is rent it first before you buy it! Other than that it's "The Fugitive 3" with Tommy Lee Jones in his same old role from that movie and Ashley Judd as the fugitive! If you live in the state of Washington, this movie shows us some very beautiful areas of that wonderful state!

Summary: Your Typical "Thriller"
Review: Double Jeopardy is of the same mold of almost every other "Thriller" movie out there, so watching it more than once seems unlikely. It has a good, though unbelievable, plot - but also has a lot of twists and turns along the way. As for the technical side of things, the anamorphic widescreen is virtually flawless - a beautiful poster child of what a DVD translation should look like. The 5.1 surround isn't much better than the standard 2-channel surround, however. As for extras, all that's here is a cheesy promotional featurette & the original theatrical trailer. So in the end you have an average movie with incredible visual clarity that's low on features. Rent it first.

Summary: Flawed and threadbare plot
Review: This film has so many plot flaws that I spent most of the movie screaming at the screen, "Oh, come on, you can't expect me to believe THAT!" The basic premise is flawed. Even if the double jeopardy law allowed Libby (Ashley Judd) to kill her husband without penalty after serving her time (which it doesn't), she would still go back to jail for parole violations (possession of a weapon among other things). The plot line is threadbare from overuse. This is a cross between "The Fugitive" and "The Pelican Brief"; innocent girl chasing after the bad guy while everyone is chasing after her.

This film asks the viewer to leap chasm after chasm of incredulity. Let's examine some of the malarkey they ask us to swallow. Do they expect us to believe that Libby wakes up covered with blood, sees a knife on the deck and doesn't expect foul play? Is there anyone on the planet stupid enough to pick up the knife and make themselves the prime murder suspect? When she's in jail and suspects that her husband is alive, why isn't she calling her lawyer, the prosecutor, the press and anyone else she knows who could hire a private investigator to find him? When Travis (Tommy Lee Jones) caught her, are we really supposed to believe that he would leave his keys in the car with her inside? And after she crashed four times into other cars and knocked one off the back of the ferry, no one noticed? And my favorite; why didn't Nick (Bruce Greenwood) strangle her before stuffing her in the coffin with her knapsack with the gun in it? Even if he had forgotten that Travis told him that Libby had a gun, don't tell me he couldn't feel the weight of a handgun in the knapsack.

Tommy Lee Jones was out of gas in this film. Between "The Fugitive", "US Marshals", and this, he has played the same character in the same situation so many times in succession that he has grown flaccid from boredom. Ashley Judd was actually excellent, and was the only reason to see the film. Her athleticism as well as her intensity impressed me. It is seldom that you will see a female actress agree to do her own stunts, especially one that involves escaping from a submerged vehicle.

Acclaimed director Bruce Beresford proves that a big budget, bankable stars and talented filming cannot save a trashy script. The filming of this movie was technically excellent, containing good suspense, thrilling stunt work, great chase scenes and plenty of plot twists. But Beresford must have decided that all the plot holes didn't matter, since he didn't demand rewrites. So I place the blame for this tripe squarely in his lap.

I think I was being generous in rating this film a 5/10. Anyone who sees it needs to check their brain at the door if they hope to enjoy the ride.

Summary: A good rental, but....
Review: This is a good suspenseful, but not very believable film. Ashley Judd is very good, as she usually is. I never really completely believed the plot... her conviction, her parole, her search for her child. Why didn't Greenwood kill her when he had the chance since he intended her to die?.. Too many holes. What surprised me was how much of the movie was given away in commercials. If you watch the preview, you already know 80% of the movie. That hurts a suspense film! A good late night rental, but not a film to own.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: I loved this, and I was so excited when I finally got to see it. I thought it was great, and the actors did an awesome job.
