Summary: TRAGEDY ....
Review: Washington is great here, as always. He does what he can to save this lousy " I wanna be a good thriller" production. But all his efforts are thrown away by Angeline Jolie's flat and uninspired performance ( no news here.. ) and a story reaching the ridiculous ... SOme people say they changed the book a lot. I havo not read it, but I guess it must be better than this turkey.

Summary: It isn't Se7en by far
Review: I got drawn into seeing this movie because it's a creation of the same director as Se7en. Se7en was a brilliant movie that, if you haven't seen it, you should really go see. This movie actually has one big flaw: it never gets exciting. It's not at all scary, the plot is predictable and I personally think Angelina Jolie isn't a very good actress. It's basically a movie like Se7en, with one exception; everything what Se7en does right this movie does wrong.

Summary: Unoriginal, but still tells a Worthy Tale.
Review: "The Bone Collector" is not an Original film, which is the main reason for it's Critical Lynching, but if you can get past that small fault, there is a lot here to Enjoy.

"Silence of the Lambs" meets "Rear Window" is probably the Best way to Summarise this film in a Sentence. It also explains the films Lack of Originality. But in the end, it has a few Jump Scenes, a Couple of Surprises, and Angelina Jolie... Well worth a Viewing.

Denzel Washington (lending more Talent to the film than the film deserves) stars a Lincoln Rhyme, an Ex-Forensics' Detective, now a Quadriplegic. When a High Profile Kidnapping occurs, the baffled police bring the evidence around to Lincoln for Analysis. Hesitant at first, Lincoln is soon on board and he wants to recruit the Street cop who attained the Evidence. Angelina Jolie plays the Street cop who Reluctantly joins the hunt for the Killer.

The Supporting cast is the Best thing about this film, as having a large Supporting cast provides many Suspects for a Final Twist. Ed O'Neill, Michael Rooker, Luis Guzman, Leland Orser and Queen Latefa all give Wonderful performances and they Really fit their roles. A Brilliant job in Casting.

In Conclusion... It's got Ok Twists, Good Scares, Great Performances, and Angelina Jolie... Trust me, its Well worth Purchasing.

Summary: Horrible adaptation of the book
Review: The book is an intelligent, suspenseful work of fiction. This movie is a lame by-the-numbers crazy serial killer flick. Anyone with more than two brain cells would have guessed the identity of the killer! Why did'nt the makers of the film follow the story in the book? Why did they change the ending? The one in the film is ridiculous! Even Denzel Washington's fine performance (That's why the film gets an extra star) could'nt save this turkey.

Summary: On Mom's Recommendation
Review: Three stars is a bit of a gift to give The Bone Collector, and if I could give it two and a half I most likely would. My mother, the queen of all that is paranoid, highly recommended I see this film- and being that Mother's Day is coming up in a few months I figured, "Why not?" My mother told me that after seeing this movie she thought she would never set foot in a cab again! Spooky! So, I stood at the movie store for a few minutes playing around with the box. On the box I see Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington, two of my favorites, and at first I think "There's a strange pair" but I was intrigued nonetheless.

The Bone Collector is by no means an insult to intelligence or even one of the worst movies ever made (if you think so, try sitting through Hollow Man). It's a film that has a lot of holes and absolutely ridiculous choices in casting. I think both the actors are brilliant, but their agents should have known better than pitching them this script. For example, I just don't look at Jolie and think "By jove! That girl would be great in the role of a tough as nails rookie cop! Get that girl on the phone."

The poor casting is only magnified by a less than astounding script. I never quite believed murders like this could take place, nor did I suspend my disbelief enough to think the murderer would be who the murderer was in the script. In fact, when the murderer is unmasked, prepare yourself for campy disappointment.

However, this film isn't all bad. While the plot may be a bit unbelievable, the story is interesting enough to capture your attention. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this film to a friend, but I also wouldn't scream if I had to see it again. In the end though, I am left analyzing more of the film's faults and forgetting the moments that I enjoyed. Thanks a lot Mom!

Summary: Very good, quite suspenseful
Review: I didn't expect to like this movie. I'm not a big fan of gory serial killer movies ("Seven" yuck!). I fully expected to turn it off part-way in. However, I found that though there were gory scenes, the characters themselves were very interesting. Denzel Washington is superb as Lincoln Rhyme who appears to have resigned himself to his physical limitations, yet becomes intrigued by this case despite himself. Angelina Jolie plays a young cop with quiet sorrow and more humanity than some of her other roles. She deftly portrays her character wrestling with her fear in order to learn what she needs to help catch a killer. Queen Latifah is delightful as usual.

I think the poor reviews here might reflect the disappointment in the less than spectacular climax of the movie with the revelation of the killer and his/her (so as not to spoil it if you haven't seen it) motives.

I liked it though. It was less complicated perhaps than Silence of the Lambs or Seven (though in Seven it was all about the killings themselves not the killers real motives. The motive was covered in about 3 lines of dialogue as though it didn't really matter. Can you tell I really dislike that movie?), but it made enough sense psychologically.

See it, rent it first if you're not sure you'll like it, but buy it ... .

Summary: Saw off her hands?!?!?
Review: I love the movies. And I can pretty much suspend my disbelief for anything. But when a poorly scripted movie like THE BONE COLLECTOR tells me that a female cop walking the beat is going to be pulled from her position -- because she took some pictures of a crime scene with a disposable camera which are supposed to be phenomenal shots -- and made an instant crime scene investigator ... COME ON! Top that off with the fact that Lincoln Rhymes keeps making her go into these blackened areas where a killer may or may not be without any backup.... And top it all off when he tells her he doesn't want forensics to mess up the crime scene and he needs the handcuffs that are on the dead victim, "I need those cuffs. Saw off her hands."

WHAT?!? That my friends is messing up the crime scene. Since when is a beat cop better at that job than professionals who have trained for years at it?

What a waste of talented actors.

If you want to see the BEST serial killer movie, rent SE7EN.

Summary: Poor attempt at a takeoff...
Review: I was deeply into the movie in the beginning. But it started to get boring and predictable during the end. This movie tried to copy Seven and The Silence of the Lambs with its grisly images of unsolved murders and mind-boggling clues. The acting was exceptional.

Summary: Very original
Review: Very original story and well-acted. The filming itself was just fantastic and added a high level of suspense to some scenes.

Denzel Washington plays a quadriplegic ex-detective who's been asked by the local police to help solve a case of complicated serial killings. A young female street cop (Angelina Jolie) catches his eye for having a knack for forensics, so he convinces her to assist him in the case. Queen Latifah plays his live-in nurse and is superb. She continues to be one of the most underrated actors around.

Everything was well-done in the movie, and it's hard to find any weaknesses. The ONLY weakness is miscasting of Jolie. Although she does a fine job, her physique and personality don't match the desired traits of the character. In this instance, they were obviously looking more for a pretty face than for someone who actually fit the bill. Queen Latifah may have served better for this role. It's still a great film.
