Summary: The Movie Trailer gives away the killer's identity
Review: I totally agree with the person's review stating that it was a good movie, but he/she knew the killer from the voice on the trailer. Usually, the killer's voice is non-destinct, however they chose an actor that has a very distinct voice. It wouldn't have been a problem if they just didn't use that voice in the trailer because you don't hear the killer speak in the movie until the end (at least not when he is in his killer persona). I knew immediately who the actor was when I watched the trailer. I have seen him in "Star Trek: Voyager", "The Pretender", "Alien: Resurrection", "The X-Files" , "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", "Saving Private Ryan", etc., etc., etc. According to IMDB, he has been in almost 40 shows and movies. I just can't get over how careless they were in using his very distinct voice in the trailer. Otherwise, I thought the movie was entertaining. It was also good to see Angelina Jolie do well in a role unlike what she usually plays.

Summary: Oh, Come On!
Review: The other reviewers have done a good job pointing out ridiculous plot contrivances. I'd like to add the "process" of forensic investigation to the list. It's as if the script-writers got hold of a textbook for "Introduction to Police Science," the first course a future cop takes at a community college. Washington just follows the book, going through all the phases you have to remember on your first quiz. Totally artificial and lame.

Another contrivance is the increasingly common (and still pretty phony) race/gender casting pattern Hollywood follows. The "brain" is Washington, the "tech-support" is some Hispanic character, and all the white guys are either stupid (the Al Bundy cop) or actually interfere with the investigation.

Of course (I could see it coming from the first few minutes of the film) the female white cop gets tired of her studly white boyfriend and falls in love with the intellectual paraplegic black man. Come on, race-politics in Hollywood films has reached new heights of absurdity!

Summary: Best Suspence Horror So Far!
Review: Some people just just don't know a good movie when they see it. The acting was great. The killer at least knew what he was after instead of just going after someone because they did something he didn't like. Watch it. You will like it.

Summary: Denzel and Angelina are great...the ending is not
Review: Another great performance by Denzel, who really does a great job of showing his angst and frustration at being locked in a body that has become in effect his prison. Angelina also is very good, although her transformation from a cop that is reluctant to help to full-blown crime scene investigator takes place too quickly.

The film does have some pretty graphic scenes, although nothing that has not been seen before. Furthermore, the movie has some great shots, specially of a heavy rain pouring over New York, where every droplet can be seen in all of its DVD glory. Unfortunately, most of these beautifully arranged shots are shown during the 30 second intro to the DVD menu.

Anyway, the movie creates a nice feeling of suspense and anxiety, although Jolie's character, again, develops too quickly into a full-blown crime scene investigator, which I found to be somewhat unbelievable. My major complaint is w/ the ending.

SPOILER ALERT - MAY GIVE AWAY PLOT INFORMATION

The motivation of the killer is kind of cobbled together and thrown in during the last 5 minutes. Nothing really relevant to the plot - just some generic excuse to have this person rampage through New York. Did not convince me. Also, although the killer speaks of clues placed at the scenes, they don't really point to the identity of the killer - just to the possible locale and demise of the victims. Although I grant that the whole point of the clues was whether the police could save the victims, the killer only left a deadline for one of the victims. Oh well.

Summary: To hear the producer talk about the book...
Review: In the BONUS section of the DVD, The producer tells that as soon as he read the book, it would be a fantastic movie, He is right. Then WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE BOOK SO MUCH TO MAKE A MOVIE?. What a waste of film, very dissapointing, the book was riveting,I couldnt wait for the movie to end, and i didnt care at all for the ending.I guess it is true, READ THE BOOK it is much better than the movie.Jeffry Deaver should be aghast at what they did to a great book. By the way, Jeff Daniels would have been great as Rhyme, Of course thats just my opinion, I could be wrong...

Summary: Just follow the Dotted Line...
Review: This movie is so formulaic and predictable! I was expecting so much when I rented it, given the caliber of its leading actors. I was sorely disappointed when this movie turned out to be another one of those suspense movies that doesn't try to break any new ground, just keep you occupied for two hours. If you love the mystery-suspense genre, you'll like this, but don't go into it expecting anything new.

Summary: boring

Summary: Give me a break.
Review: Come on, people, if you are thinking of renting this, you DESERVE to sit through it. Denzel Washington couldn't act his way of a bad actors convention, and Angelina Jolie has got to be the most disturbing-looking woman on the face of the planet. Give this one a wide berth.

Summary: Get That Finger Out Of Your Nose Billy.
Review: A pretty good movie, not quite as enthralling as Seven though. Angelina Jolie is amazing, just her screen presence was enough to get me interested in this movie. Washington was pretty good for the limits his role allowed him(paralyzed). I was able to figure the killer just by his vibe, and from knowledge of his past roles. They did an adequete job trying to throw you off though. The DVD has clear picture and phenomonal sound quality. A good edition if you're a fan of Seven, Kiss the Girls or Silence of the Lambs.
