Summary: A great adaptation of the Classic Novel.
Review: What a good movie! I was happily suprised when I saw this movie in the theatre. Tim Burton did an excellent job of Washington Irving's novel "The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow". Burtons adaption of the novel is clever and interesting. A murder mystery in the 1790's is just what the movie needed. The atmosphere was just right for the dark mysterious surroundings, as was the small details in the movie (costume, architecture, language, etc). Johnny Depp did a superb job as Ichabod Crane and Christina Ricci is suprisingly effective as an "innocent" love interest. Most brilliant casting was Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman. He is truely frightening and someone that will give shivers down your spin on a cold dark Autumn night. Kudos to Tim Burton! Highly recommended.

Review: This picture is a great story about Ickabod Crain, The story was first told a Long time ago with an animated version from Disney, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Even tho, Christopher Walken was not given any credits in the movie, He played an important and very convencing role. Its a must see movie and Im gonna add this one to my collection of Classics. This movie gets 5 stars from me.

Summary: Sleepy Hollow
Review: Don't think of the movie as a real movie but as a fairy tale. It's not a real story. It's what you might think that a Halloween story could be.

Join the (de)colored image with a live sound and find Johnny Depp telling you his childhood's fears in a small village where the dead are still not dead and many things are exactly what they don't seem to be.

It's not a Salem's Lot story but a lost in place story. It could have happened where you live. When darkness rules, what's real?

Summary: Read the Story and Appreciate The Adaptation from Tim Burton
Review: I have heard people that have disliked this movie for reasons ranging from "It wasn't believable" to "I wasn't scared". Well good for you. Most likely the real reasons people have attacked this movie is that they just didn't understand it's origins. These people have most likely never read Washington Irving's story and are familiar only with the Disney cartoon. Tim Burton understood how that story wouldn't translate extremely well to the screen. The script was hilarious to some extent, possibly a little predictable, but overall this movie was one of the best movies of 1999. The special effects were awesome, not one member of the cast was unbelievable. (Depp's performance, as always was superb). The beautiful Christina Ricci was perfect (and if you think she was a tad bit young for the part you might want to catch up on your history). The set design was awesome and overall this movie was more than worth the money spent on admission. Besides any movie with that many beheadings is an instance of genius. Just like it as you should.

Summary: Atmosphere
Review: This movie really was all about the atmosphere, and who better to do it than the master of the dark and creepy, Tim Burton. As expected, Tim Burton lavishes us with his famous eye candy that rivals the quality of Batman. The plot was good. It followed the classic tale well without being predicatble or cliche. Eventhough most know the story of Sleepy Hallow by heart, he left me wondering what was happening in this movie. Acting was a cut above average. Johnny Depp was supurb in his role, and the rest of the cast was believeable and well displayed. The characters themselves were well done, but nothing exceptional. The screenplay was good. I don't remember any exceptionally good parts or obvious holes. All in all a good movie, but if a strong emphasis on setting/atmosphere really isn't your thing, then this movie might not be for you.

Summary: Don't fall a-sleepy hollow
Review: oh please, it's not all that. Whilst Johnny Depp is fantastic as the lead, that doesn't make the movie. It's not funny, there is no real depth in any of the characters and the ending is rubbish. The characters are so overdone you feel like you're watching panto. And I thought that in this day and age we could do better than poster paint for blood. The film offers some shocks, but nothing that'll leave a tingle in your spine like the Blair Witch did. It wouldn't be that bad if the jokes were half decent, but they're terrible. Save your money and wait till they re-release Snow White, it's much more frightening!

Summary: You'll be pleased!
Review: Maybe 5 stars are too much but there is nothing in current movie theaters repertoire to match Tim Burton's horror tale.

The design is superb. The Art Of Sleepy Hollow book explains how it happened but if you just see the result the experience is unforgettable. You see the texture of that century's life and yet it's only 75% real with the hint of fairy tale present in every frame.

Johnny Depp deserves every word of praise he gets. There is absolutely no impression of seeing the modern guy dressed up in historical costume - he is very natural. Christina Ricci with her owlish looks is doing her best not to spoil the fun but her best is not very good. She is probably not the best choice for this part.

So if you like Tim Burton of The Nightmare Before Christmas fame see this beautiful picture. But better concentrate on the design.

If you are not very fond of that weird guy who bored you with scissorhanded Edward and wooden Ed good news he is redempted and almost gone mainsream. It's a real big-budget smasher with inevitably predictable slogan, posters and action figures. You'll get an eyeful of action.

Particularly pleasing is the rush up the tower with the fiend biting Ichabod's heels. It does not matter they run up the old windmill - not the deserted oil refinery's tower - the building will blow up in flames no matter what. Such is the impact of highly explosive flour.

And the car chase! Oh, sorry, that was a horse drawn carriage - but I promise you will not notice the difference.

Ever thought of the remote controller in a form of a rotting scull? You'll see one!

There is no need to wait for The Silence Of Lambs-2 - the bug exiting a corpse is waiting for your shudder right here!

And if you like to laugh yourself silly the witch in a resine mask will be happy to entertain you by knocking Johnny to the ground and flailing her 2-foot tongue (made of the same material).

So there is a bit of everything for everyone.

I know, Mr. Burton, it's depressing to be so smart and inventive and still see your films flop at the market. Now you made the big one and the money it brings will finance your more subtle creations in a years to come.

Good luck, Tim!

Summary: Sleepy Hollow
Review: This is my all-time favorite movie. Tim Burton's masterful artwork is shown to the maxium in this beautiful film. Based on the famous, yet humorous tale, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," by Washington Irving, this movie takes that folk tale to a whole new level of suspence and mystery.

Johnny Depp plays Ichabod Crane, a forensic scientist, who is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate several horrific murders, all found with their heads 'removed.' Ichobod, a man of sense and reason, does not believe in the Headless Horesman, who the townspeople say is behind these murders, not until he sees him for himslef. Crane makes several discoveries that leads him to believe that the horesman is being controled by a person of flesh and blood. Ichabod falls head over heels for the mysterious Katrina van Tassel, played wonderfully by the beautiful Christina Ricci, who has secrets of her own.

After much investigating, the person behind these murders is revealed, too much of the audiences suprise.

This movie is fantasic and I whole-heartedly reccomend this book to anyone who is a fan on Tim Burton.

Summary: One of the best movies yet...
Review: I would have to say this is one movie that stands out in its on league. When you see this movie you do feel as if your back in the 1800's, and every thing is nicely put together to add to that feel. Hard to believe, but Johnny Depp played in the movie Plattoon (1986), of course then he was not trying to gun down the headless horseman with a M16 assault rifle. He's still a good actor today and I do think anyone would like to aleast see this movie once.

This movie is a great collectors add-on, buy it, if your in to mystery type movies.
