Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Wonderfully Done! Review: I am usually the only person who won't watch horror movies, but this was great! I liked how the plot was stretched and it wasn't boring like the disney version (which was okay, but predictable).I also like how Ichabod Crane was more of a coward and not a super hero.If you haven't seen, rent it!
Rating: Summary: Where is the Plot? Review: This movie did nothing for me. It moves along slowly, has some very stiff acting and a hard to follow plot.If u want to check out Johnny Depp's better work then get "What's eating Gilbert Grape", (also Leonardo DiCaprio's finest work.) Christina Ricci does some bad acting here, but i think the script stinks. The film is also unnessessarily gory, it seems like the gore is suposed to make up for the lack of storyline. I was bored.
Rating: Summary: Sleepy a haunting masterpiece Review: Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" almost appears as though it was meant to be seen on the small screen. It's tone, color, and creepiness just magnifies on the television, and curled up on a rainy night it would be the perfect date rental. Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci star in the Thanksgiving hit based on the novel by Washington Irving. Fans of the novel won't be disappointed at Burton's vision, and neither will horror fans. The story focuses on a New York investigator Ichabod Crane (Depp) sent to the town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate the murders of the mythical Headless Horseman. With more and more bodies turning up decapitated, it is up to Crane to stop the murders and prove once and for all that the murderer isn't a ghost, but instead a man of flesh and blood. However, as Crane soon finds out, the stories behind the Headless Horseman are true. Now, it is up to him with the help of Katrina Van Tassel (Ricci) to find out who controls the Headless Horseman before they, and the rest of Sleepy Hollow, end up dead. Burton's famous for creating dark settings in his films, and "Sleepy Hollow" is no different. The lack of light, the fog, and the farmtown setting only intensifies the mystery and horror Irving intended his story to have. The beautiful costumes distinguish the time period perfectly, and the dream sequences create the only color the film has. Depp gives his best performance in a long time as Ichabod Crane. He gives his eccentric character bothheart and humor and works well with Ricci. Despite their age difference, the two make the perfect movie couple with their on-screen chemistry as engaging as the film's cinematography. "Sleepy Hollow" was a wonderful film on the big screen but is even more visually haunting on the small screen. It
Rating: Summary: subtitles Review: I'm writing from Turkey and I want to learn Turkish subtitle for DVD.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I am not narmally a fan of any horror movies, but this is definetly an exception. The storyline is not just a killer going mad either. There is a reason. I also thought the effects were AWESOME. The acting was good as well. I highly recommend seeing it when you get a chance!
Rating: Summary: A Stylish New Spin on an Old Classic... Review: Is there anyone out there who has NEVER heard the story of Ichabod Crane and his fateful ride in the woods? I remember watching the Disney version when I was younger, and I was so very excited when I heard that a remake was in the works. To top it off, legend Tim Burton was going to direct it! I had high hopes when I first saw this film, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed in the least. The scenery and costumes are magnificent. The creepy surroundings are so stylish they are almost beautiful. The headless horseman is merciless, and kills anyone who steps in his way. But, this is not the regular story as you may have heard it. There are a few new spins added into the story and, as I'm sure you've guessed, there is much more violence and gore in this version compared to the dinky Disney version. In fact, the heads don't stop rolling until the credits appear at the end of the film. So, parents, be warned. This is not the Disney version remade. This is a version that will even scare the adults...
Rating: Summary: An elegant, mildly chilling movie Review: "Sleepy Hollow" is a mildly chilling, elegant movie. Visually lavish, it's costumes and sweeping cinematography will exhilarate. While all the guts and gore seems a tad forced at times (we just have to see the decapitated bodies, don't we?), it just adds to all the fun. Christina Ricci's character, though, is overly subdued; we get the nagging feeling that she should be in this scene or that scene, because she would add so much to its atmosphere. Well, overall, it's been a while since an elegant, mildly scary movie came out, so please-- watch this movie. It's not top-notch cinema, but it is a great film, and the leading actors do a great job.
Rating: Summary: Tim Burton's Best Review: This movie is a work of art. The Oscar-winning production designer had an extrordinary visual imagination. The whole film is like a hughe painting in dark tones.Tim Burton brings it to life. Combining scary moments, a romantic lovestory and comical elements this is a MUST see movie. Johnny Depp plays Ichabod with such a delicious irony it is a real pleasure to watch him solving the "crimes" in Sleepy Hollow, where a headless horseman is chopping off heads. Christina Ricci plays Katrina VanTassel like a hoplessly romantic from a fairy tale. Danny Elfman's dark score with a lot of choir-parts adds too the mood of this beautiful film. People get killed in this movie yeah, but all you can say after the movie is: This was beautiful! Something that only Tim Burton can achieve.
Rating: Summary: Depp at his best Review: Very good film,it will keep you SPELLBOUND. This is one of movies where J.Depp is casted in his best character role ever! from ALTEREGO in Tulsa OK
Rating: Summary: Burton at his best. Review: I have always been just a mediocre fan of Tim Burton, but if he starts making all of his movies in the style he made Sleepy Hollow, I have a feeling that opinion will change. Sleepy Hollow is as creepy and exciting as it is visually stunning. It tells the ancient story of Ichabod Crane and his bout with the legendary HEadless Horseman. This movie has many strengths, such as Beautiful yet creepy and gothic-like atmosphere, a solid plot, and an EXTREMELY creepy portrayel by Christopher Walken. Be advised though, the film is very gory, and if you have a weak stomach do not watch it without either your hands over your ears or on the fast forward button. But I think that this movie is Tim Burton's best and definitely one of the more unique(in a good way) horror films put out in a while.
