Summary: Criterion Colection is most definitely the way to go
Review: This film is an obvious masterpiece, but I have not seen any other reviewers comment on the Criterion Collection release on DVD. Spending the extra $7.00 on this version of the disk is so well worth it that I could probably fill half of a page blathering on and on about it. Check the special features & see for yourself what a bargain the Critereion Collection version is. Buying a standard version of this disk would simply be cheating yourself.

P.S. If that is really Ted Levine in the previous review, "negligible" my ass. I'm thinking more along the lines of Best Supporting Actor. Don't sell yourself short.

Summary: Best Film of All Time
Review: I've always considered Anthony Hopkins to the best actor I have seen...until I saw how incredible Jodie Foster was in this film. She was always in close running with Hopkins, but I must say she has actually surpassed him a bit, in my humble opinion. The direction here is pitch perfect, the script is exciting, clever and undeniably heart-breaking. Hopkins and Ted Levine are chilling in very different and important ways. Foster, however, makes this entire film MEAN something. I can't imagine anyone else doing this role. I hope this movie is NEVER re-made. What could possibly be the point? Everyone involved with this film should be proud. I LOVE the sounds and the sets/costumes of the film, too. I know it's quite obvious that after this film there were a lot of serial killer themed films made, but check out how influential the look of this film has been on female "FBI Agent" types in movies. This is a MUST SEE.

Summary: It was fun
Review: Making it, that is. I held the role of Jame Gumm, better known within the film as Buffalo Bill. I will not bore you readers with my opinions of the film, except to remark that I feel my own contribution was negligible and I am continually honored to have been a part of Demme's exceptional vision. Working on "Silence of the Lambs" was a blast, particularly when I got to play Jame Gumm.

Summary: Simply the best
Review: There is nothing left to say about this masterpiece other than in my opinion it is the finest film ever made. The wonderful performances complimented by the dark brooding atmosphere created so skillfully are unequivocally the best I have ever seen.

Summary: it was just great
Review: I've never seen Anthony Hopkins acting so well as in this movie.(and of course "the zorro's mask.") "Clarice" was also good.I think the cameras were bad but the skript was just so good.So you all wach the movie or reed the book. Both are good but book was better.

Summary: The right pleasures to all the wrong senses.
Review: The combination of Demme's dark direction and the superior acting skills of Foster and Hopkins make this a pleasurable release of the darkness that lies in all of us.

Summary: A strange descent into the madness of a serial killer
Review: The Silence of the Lambs is a classic. This is a movie that you just have to see. Anthony Hopkins is incredibly good as the intelligent Hannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist who has turned into a twisted cannibal serial killer. Nicknamed "Hannibal the Cannibal", he is visited by FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jody Foster), who is trying to catch another twisted killer, named Buffalo Bill. She connects with Lecter, and soon she is the patient and Lecter is asking the questions. Great movie.

Summary: One of the best films ever made.
Review: Let me tell you how much I love this movie and how great it is. Anthony Hopkins is absoulutely brilliant as Dr. Lecter and Jodie Foster has her best role ever as Clarice Starling. The movie is brilliant and it will haunt you forever. The scenes metioned in Amazon's review (the jail break, autospy) are gory and haunting but not near as scary as the sound of Dr. Lecter's voice and the way he moves. One of the best films ever.

Summary: What can I say?
Review: I really liked this movie, it was creepy, and had a cool ending, but I don't understand why everyone thought it was SOOOOO great, I on the other hand thought it was good, I even own in I liked it that much, but there are far better movies then this one, still check it out.

Summary: shatteringly creepy
Review: There is one scene, one overlooked moment, that precisely describes just what is creepy about Hannibal Lecter: from his jail cell, he offers Clarice Starling a set of papers. When she reaches to take them, he rubs his finger along hers erotically. All you can do is cringe along with Starling - that is the effectiveness of Hannibal. Perfectly ordinary, small things become unnerving in his presence. If you haven't seen this, you must. Now.
