Summary: Bland & monotonous; good twist, though
Review: What an uninspired work! The only two really good perfomances are Morgan Freeman's --and that's only because he does the same routine he always does-- and the little girl who gets kidnapped. She did a really good job; I was impressed. Morgan Freeman plays the same great-souled, moderated, contemplative, world-wearied guy he always plays. He needs a good badguy role; a real SOB role where he blows up a lot of stuff.Monica Potter is atrociously boring as the Secret Service sidekick. Her tepid performance is indistinct to that of her 'Patch Adams' character, which was a mind-bogglingly bad movie on so many levels. In 'Spider,' she tags along and whines with all the emotive ability of a seventh-grader. The badguy/kidnapper had the potential to be interesting; diabolical even. This would have made the twist even more compelling. However, his motivation is never explored beyond the *he's playing a game, and he's very methodical* schtick. I must say that the twist is really well-done, if kind of ridiculous. They didn't have to make the movie totally incomprehensible to pull it off. However, they didn't leave enough time in the movie to really get into the depths and motivations behind the twist, but by that point I was ready for the whole thing to end.

Summary: LOTS OF TWISTS AND TURNS!
Review: This is a movie that started out with a good, but predictable plot and somewhere around the middle grabs you and doesn't let you go until the last minute of the movie. It centers around the kidnapping of a U.S. Senator's daughter and the complex ways the Secret Service and F.B.I. work to unravel the crime. Morgan Freeman is great (as usual), but the newcomer, Monica Potter who plays the part of a secret service agent is superb in this role. I was thoroughly entertained and this is one you will be talking about for a good while after you see it. The end is chilling, surprising, and completely unexpected. This one is well worth the money.

Summary: caught in a spider's web...
Review: when i saw the initial scene i was enthtralled. The scene caught my attention and my interest, but as the story steadily moved towards the ending, i began to feel that i have seen these scenes before. the ending is not really that shocking partly because Potter didnt act very well in this film (under-acting, as opposed to over-acting, kills some performances).
And it's this kind of movie that shows whether an actor/actress is really all they're made out to be. When an actor (morgan freeman) stars in a lackluster film and is still a good actor, then that is a trademark of greatness. the other actors/ actresses do a fair job, but the kidnapper needs special mention because he does an excellent job, very convincing.
I liked Kiss the Girls, perhaps because Ashley Judd is a much better actress than Potter is, but also perhaps because the story was more solid. While this film is attempting to shock us and throw a twist at every scene, it fails to really make us care about any of the characters.
Now that ive said all that, I must say that this movie's first act (you'll know what i mean when you see it) is much better than its second act. if the movie would've maybe stuck a little closer to the nature of the 1st act then i would've given this film 4 stars - but instead the film drivels off into cliched territory where i dont really care what happens next.
Morgan Freeman is one of the greatest actors alive right now, he has incredible timing, ive never seen him over-act or go out of character. He can literally play any part (he's even played a bad guy, such as nurse betty or hard rain). however, even freeman can't save this movie from mediocricy, but he does make this movie a worthwhile rental...

Review: I've read some James Patterson books and have watched Kiss the Girls and I like the detective Alex Cross. I enjoy that they have cast Alex with Morgan Freeman as I could not picture Alex with someone like Laurence Fishburn who rocked with the Matrix. I enjoyed seeing Monica Potter in this movie and though the plot twists and turns I hope to see more from her in the future as she has a lot of potential for these kinds of movies (and not like the one she shares cast with Freddy Prince Jr. in which she kind of played a flake). While I liked the cast, I just thought that there was TOO much jam-packed into the movie. Not enough character development to feel the actors out and not enough to sympathize with the situations. I was dissappointed with this movie but hope to see more from Alex Cross and Morgan Freeman should they decide to keep on the James Patterson kick.

Summary: Could this have been more boring?
Review: I saw this movie at the theater when it first opened and thought it was a snoozefest. The acting was sub-par, the plot was predictable, the "twists" weren't twisty enough. In short, this is a so-so movie that just happens to have one of today's best actors wasting away in it: Morgan Freeman. Normally, the presence of Mr. Freeman is enough to elevate any movie to a level higher than two stars. However, if it hadn't been for him, I would have given this movie one star. I thought it was that bad. In fact, all back-of-the-box blurbs regarding its "suspense" and "mystery" and "surprises" aside, this is the kind of movie you'll want to rent before you buy it. And rent the VHS, too, spending the least amount of money you can. For heaven's sake, do NOT buy this movie -- especially on the more expensive DVD format -- before you watch it. You're likely to sorely regret it.

Review: I'm a big fan of Morgan Freeman, however, the writers didn't do the book justice. Key elements were left out of the movie that made the book such a success. Another big disappointment was the supporting role played by Monica Potter. She simply didn't match the part. If you've read the book, don't even consider the movie.

Review: As always Morgan Freeman (Dr Cross) plays an excellent roll. I love a suspense thriller with turns and twists that throw you off guard. Supporting cast does an excellent job help you expect the unexpected. If you liked Kiss the Girls, you will love this Dr Cross sequal. The international twist is one I have not seen in a movie in a long time.

Review: Along came a spider was the first book from James Patterson that set me on my coarse to reading all his books. I couldn't wait to see the movie. Now I wish I never laid eyes on it. And the casting for both of his movies. Alex Cross has two adorable kids. This Alex Cross is to old. and no kids. Read the books. If another movie comes out go bowling.

Review: I have read every single one of James Patterson's titles. So i feel i am qualified to give a review on this particular movie, having never rated one before. And i was excited when along came a spider was going to be done. however, after renting this video last weekend, i must admit this is the most horrible enactment of a book i have ever seen. If you have read the book, the movie is not even a bit like the book. Ok, i take that back, the blue van that the kidnapper used was in the movie, however, the kidnapping scene was not even the same as in the book. NOTHING WAS SIMILAR. NOTHING! If you have read Along Came A Spider, you will be sorely disappointed. I am also sure that most fans of Patterson will agree with me that having Morgan Freeman be Alex Cross sucks as well, considering Alex Cross is supposed to be in his 40's and verrry good looking as well as witty with street attitude, built and muscular. watching Morgan Freeman attempt to be Alex Cross is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
