Summary: Good movie
Review: I've never read the book...so I can't say if you will like the movie if you've read the book...I found this movie a while back..and just recently came back across it....It has become one of my favorite movies and plan to get both the DVD and read the book...This is a great movie in my opinion...

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A movie is hardly ever as good as the book!
Review: If you've never seen this movie before read the book first and then rent the movie. This movie is pretty good but the book is much better. I was also desappointed that they didn't get into the fact that Chris and Cathy fall in love like they do in the book. I guess they were trying to make this film appealing to teenagers, but I think it may have done more harm than good because you miss alot of the plot development between the characters. I gave this movie four stars for Louise Fletcher's and Kristy Swanson's acting and the ultimate revenge ending! The whole movie is worth that ending eventhough that's not how the book ends.

Summary: 3 stars for the movie alone
Review: I think all the people complaining here about the movie being not as good as the book should ask themselves this question. if you had never read the book and watched the movie what would you think of it then? i have read the book many times and enjoyed it. the movie i thought was well done. good acting by victoria tennant, louise fletcher and kristy swanson. and a beautiful score by christopher young. an obvious stunt double at the end was laughable but thats it. the movie by itself was decent, quit trashing it people give it a rest.

Summary: Not to the book
Review: This movie did no justice to the book. Anyone who read the book and followed the series should be appauled by the change in the ending and the details that were iggnored in the movie. The movie seemed to be rushed and did not go in depth into the relationships between the characters. In the novel, one of the main points of focus was the taboo love which had developed between Chris and Cathy. There should be a re-make of this movie that should tell the story how the novel tells the story. The movie should not share the name "Flowers in the Attic" with the book.

Summary: GREAT!~
Review: I thought it was so awsome! I read the book first too! it was pretty awsome and recommend it to fans of V.C. Andrews!

Summary: Bad...
Review: The casting and the acting were terrible and almost cheesy... complete waste of money.

Summary: a total piece of crap
Review: I read this book and saw the movie when it first came out as an adolescent. I liked the book when I was about 12 but then again I was very young. What an awful movie. I can't believe an Oscar winning astress like Louis Fletcher would stoop so low. I guess she needed the money.
But then again if you are reading this review you probably like crappy best selling authors like VC Andrews or Danielle Steele. I prefer authors like Tolkein or Jack Keuroac myself.
So I guess it's a matter of taste, good or bad...

Summary: disappointing
Review: I found the screen version of Flowers in the Attic disappointing at best. The story was not followed as well as it could have been and the acting was mediocre, especially Victoria Tennant who portrayed the mother, Corrine. She showed little to no emotion throughout the film. The rest of the actors were far from good. This was obviously an extremely low budget film.
If you've read the book and enjoyed it, leave it at that. It can't be improved upon. If you haven't read the book and are considering the film, don't waste your time or money. Read the book.

Summary: The dark attic
Review: I tried to read the book many years ago, and couldn't get past page 20. So I decided to get the movie and try it out. If this is any indication, than I don't think I'll be giving V.C. Andrews another try any time soon. The plot is that a young woman is forced to go back home with her children. Their sadistic grnadmother (Louise Fletcher) locks them away in the attic, where they create a world of their own. "Flowers" is a very depressing story of insainity, greed, murder and incest. The acting is wooden and stiff (except Fletcher, she's credible as the evil head of the house). The mother of the children is horrible. This is just a mean spirited movie. The children are all blond and beautiful, especilly pre-"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Kristy Swanson, but the acting is nothing special. Over all it's a dark tale of family, like Tennessee Williams on depressants.

Summary: Instead of...
Review: ...judging the movie by the book, why don't you just judge the movie on it's own. There is NO book-to-movie movie that is as good as the book, so to put the movie down for that reason is asinine. Movies like Jurassic Park and Lord of The Rings aren't as good as the books, but as stand-alone movies, they are WONDERFUL.
with that said, i very much enjoyed watching flowers in the attic and i would recommend it to anyone.
