Summary: Just plain awful.
Review: Not even Johnny Depp could save this mess. The Astronaut's Wife is a boring, pointless film that works better than sleeping pills. I kept asking myself, "Why make this film??".

The Astronaut's Wife is basically a re-make of an old 1950's cheap Sci-Fi film, minus the unintentionally funny dialog. Its not scary and nothing really happens in the film until the very end, when the "terrible secret" is revealed.

Do yourself a favor, pretend that you never heard of this movie.

Summary: What was with the ending?
Review: I am not particularly drawn to science fiction and being a fan of Johnny Depp's range as an actor, I still had no desire to see this. It was on one night and my husband wanted to watch it so there I sat, sure I was going to hate it. I have to tell you that the movie was quite suspenseful and the acting was superb. I found myself wrapped up in and even afraid of Johnny Depp's character. I was mildy impressed. Then came the end. What a way to ruin a great movie. So predictable that you didn't even see it coming, because it was such a good film up until that point. It's like you watched this great movie and the end comes and you're questioning yourself as to why you watched it all. It was so disappointing. It's worth watching for the performances and the suspense up until that point. If you can get over a really lame ending, you might enjoy it.

Summary: Not everything in space is cute and cuddly.......
Review: Last night I picked it up where Theron is in her kitchen when she learns that there is 'a problem'.....from there on there is 'a problem' not only for her but for the viewer with the way the story unfolds until the very end.
This is a repeat in some ways of The Devil's Advocate but Reeves was much better as the annoyed but understanding husband...
I had many questions e.g. what is the relevance of the twins? is it because there was an interruption for 'two minutes?'......and what is the need of repeating how many times? "he is in there" "I am in there" etc. .....she goes home to take her pills where I guessed he would be.....she allows the radio that is obviously bringing such pleasure to her 'husband' to stay in their apartment....I would have chucked it out the window to see if it could take the nosedive down to the street below.... we never do find out why the cab driver could not take her to Washington Square....and an endless number of other things in the script that make no sense.........but as my cousin, who was in the movie biz used to say 'there would be no movie then'......which might have been better given the muddled mess they produced......

Summary: movie
Review: Depp was great as Spencer in this movie. I loved the fact that he scared the crap out of me, I loved his southern accent and he was so gorgeous with chesnut hair in this movie. I hope Johnny plays more scary characters. He plays it quite well. Charlizes acting was good also. Very good movie. And Surprising ending.

Summary: Rosemary's Baby Goes Cosmic
Review: Not only is the plot derivative in the extreme, the story moves at a snail's pace. You might want to watch this movie with your kids if they're too young to have seen Mia Farrow in the real thing, but be sure to rent it, not buy. Certainly this is not a film you'll want in a permanent collection.

Summary: Déjà vu
Review: I had severe déjà vu watching this. Charlize Theron plays the exact same character she played in Devil's Advocate, alongside another cutie, Keanu Reeves. Except she has an extremely boyish haircut in this (does NOT suit her), and she doesn't dye her hair at any point brown, and start screaming at the slightest thing.

The thing that I've noticed been said about Devil's Advocate & this is that they compare it to Rosemary's Baby. Which doesn't help if you've never seen it like me. So all the comparisons just go straight over my head.

I only taped this off the TV ages ago for Johnny Depp. And wasn't too disappointed in the entire film. It had a good storyline and apart from Charlize Theron doing her one expression - bored - I did enjoy the film.

Then the ending came, and I was holding onto a cushion like grim death, and hiding my face partly behind it. The ending changed my whole perspective of the film, and subsequently lowered my stars scale to 2. I didn't completely understand the ending, and my Dad got quite fed up trying to explain and figure out what exactly I didn't understand about the movie. If the ending had been left alone, and just been a happy ending (it is technically, but not the way I wanted it to be), then I would have been fine. But no, they had to go and totally confuse me. Didn't really make much sense to stupid me.

Don't go into this expecting a great, Armageddon-esque film. It's not. It's a very strange film. And you definitely need to see Rosemary's Baby first, to be able to understand the comparisons!

Summary: Depp Creepy, Therone Beautiful
Review: Whoa, lots of negativity floating around about this film. Watching the film for the first time, totally unaware even of the genre of movie I was watching, I was totally dragged along by it. The appeal to me was seeing a sci-fi feature unravel with minimal effects. I also thought that it was an incredible role for Depp. This was the film that made me a Depp fan. His character was disarming and terrifying. The cinematography was spare and relevant to the story, and the direction was superb. Cases in point, the scene near the end with Depp descending the stairs dragging his wedding band on the rail...the brief glimps of Depp "whispering" to Jillian's sister. And it's got Charlize Theron in it! Okay, okay, there WAS the recurring in utero scene, but you just have to roll your eyes and move on -- they didn't invest heavily on effects. If you're looking for a sci-fi-horror film with drooling scaly things that spit acid and laser beams (and that have ONLY ONE WEAKNESS!!!), this is not the film for you. If you don't like to use your imagination after you are done watching the movie, this is not the film for you. If you simply want to be entertained, well, this movie totally freaked me out and haunted me for days.

Summary: One of the Worst Sci-Fi Films This Side of The Galaxy
Review: This movie attempts base its science fiction plot almost entirely on dialogue. That would be fine and dandy if: (1) there were a story to tell; and (2) if the dialogue were even half interesting.

The plot itself is incomplete; a rough draft at best. Jonny Depp's and Charlize Theron's acting are minimal in this film; the lines are straight from the script with no emotion or realism. This film is not even worth one star and certainly not worth renting. Unless you need a sleeping aid, save your time and your money.

Summary: Horrible and Boring
Review: This movie should be 10min long because that's how long it takes to tell the story. Husband goes to space, alien takes over his body, alien gets wife pregnant, woman fights alien husband. The end. I can't tell you how many boring and pointless scenes there are in this movie that have nothing to do with story or character development. After the woman finds out she's pregnant she goes to talk with other pregnant women who are talking about getting their feet rubbed. Charlize Theron is horrible in this movie. She has no personality and doesn't show any acting ability until the last 5min of the film. She walks around completely bored throughout the entire movie. You learn that her character "sees dead people" which has nothing to do with the story. Johnny Depp is a great actor but he really has nothing to work with in this movie. It's just horrible. I can't believe I watched the whole thing.
