Summary: An extraordinary excellent piece of work
Review: The story has been laid out by other reviews above. Be assured if you love films, and watch films not only for the story, but also to learn the process, this is the dvd for you. It gives the same story in the original disjointed format and straight. A very interesting visual experience. I did have some problems with break-up of the picture of my DVD. I wonder if anyone else has had such problems? Regardless it is an excellent piece of work.

Review: This is a gritty film noire story about a man whose hobby is following people. There's lots of suspense, hard-edged violence, bizarre plot twists, and even mysterious time shifts -- as you would expect from the director of the reverse-plotted Memento.If you get this, get the DVD as it allows a chronological reconstruction of the story. Highly recommended disturbing early movie by Christopher Nolan.

Summary: great, but why not widescreen?
Review: this is an amazing film. i enjoyed it more than momento. however, i was disappointed with the format of the dvd. widescreen format is not provided. also, the bonus materials hardly feel like a bonus. i don't know if they intend to release a wide-screen version but it would greatly enhance the the film.

Summary: Great Film !!!
Review: This is one of the best films I have seen by a first time Director. Excellent acting, story and editing. Even though the film isn't anything like Rodriquez's "El Mariachi", the raw talent of director Christopher Nolan is so evident. Where Rodriquez failed with "Desperado" his second outing, Nolan prevailed with an even more breathtaking escapade in "Memento"(not to be missed). Christopher Nolan is a talent that will be around for a long time to come. Al Pacino is aready slated for his next film.

Summary: Wicked twist!
Review: This movie is a fantastic work in virtually every respect. The story is involving, the B&W atmosphere sets the right mood (obviously due to a very low budget, but it works well here), and the twist at the end of the story is extremely well executed. Keeps you guessing until the final few frames. A masterpiece by Christopher Nolan, who is better known for his work on Memento (also a masterpiece in its own right). Highly recommended viewing for those who like surprises!

Summary: I am WOWed
Review: This movie is by the director of Memento, and it has the same style. That is, at first you see scenes from separate times and nothing makes sense, but in the end it all comes together in a way you'd never expect. I personally thought this movie was done better than Memento. For one, in the end there were absolutely NO loose threads. Every single detail made sense and fit into the story. In this way it was much less confusing than Memento was (I couldn't place a couple details when I watched that movie). The plot itself was like a mystery, a very interesting mystery which made me pay full attention the entire time. It began to fit together quickly enough to keep me interested, but slowly enough to keep revealing more and more, steadily up until the end. The final ending was VERY clever, and quite unpredictable. The only real issue I can think of is that this movie is entirely in black and white, as if it were filmed by hand with an old-fashioned camera. At first this detracts from the story. But once the viewer is accustomed to it, it ends up adding to the surreal and mysterious atmosphere. I really don't think the movie would have had as strong an effect if it had been in colour. In any case, it is hard to describe how perfect this movie was, how well the plot fit together, that amazing feeling I got while watching it as everything began to fit into place... Just go see it!

Summary: Very good - more of an "art film" than Memento
Review: This movie, made earlier by same director of Memento, is shot in Black and White, and it tells the story of an unsuccesful writer that decided to follow people around. The main character will come across as a loser, but a nice loser, and it will be hard not to sympathize with him!
This movie is also not presented in straight forward time, so it might take first viewers to recognize the main character shave and unshaved as the same person.
The movie is short, and ends when it starts getting repetitive. Worth renting, if not for keeps.

Summary: didn't achieve what it could of
Review: This was Christopher Nolan's movie before "Memento." We can see why Miramax gave a chance on such a new unknown director. There are a lot of similarities between the two. The use of flashbacks, black and white, the noir story, the character's outsider personalities. Without "Following", he couldn't have made "Memento", the better developed film. "Following" annoyed me though because it had so many possibilities but it just didn't take them. The first hour was intriguing. The plot was about a stalker who meets a thief that takes him in as a pupil. But Nolan felt a need to connect it all together which was where the movie went wrong. There doesn't need to be any connection. And the way he went around it is such an overdone concept.

Review: This was outstanding! Acting was fantastic. Lead "Blonde" was a Hitchcockein knockout! This is a must for movie fanatics. Keeps you thinking the whole time since it is not shown chronologically (but not as hard as Momento). Unexpected plot and a refreshing movie compared to todays selections. See this movie.

Review: Too flawed. Bad cinematography, especially in black/white format. The plot was silly also. I liked Alex Haw, the actor who played Cobb. He is a promising actor. I believe this is the only role he has done. I wonder why. Small film, inexpensive budget, no problem. I want to compare this film to Pulp Fiction as regards to use of flashbacks. They flashback sequences were done poorly. I do not see any emphasis on each flashbacks, meanings were too superficial to understand. I keep going "Yeah he did; yeah thats what happened; so what? what is the point?" In the end, somewhat chilling conclusion which was okay. Not much of a substance in the film overall. Some style but too flat. It wouldn't have been a difference if the story was told outright without the use of flashbacks. Big hole in this film...I see that the mob boss played a role in this film in a indirect way. How come the mob boss was not much of a factor after the robbery of his safe? That bothered me a little throughout the last part of the film. Overall, it is a weak film. I don't have a problem for a recommendation for you to take a look at it.
