Summary: When you don't like the guy, what do you care?
Review: I suppose my biggest problem with the film is that the plot springboards off the 'hero' cheating on his 'girlfriend' with a 'girl he just met'. If you can get past your initial disgust with someone who randomly cheats on a girl who is reconsidering her entire future for the supposed 'love' these two have for each other, you might care if the guy gets stalked.

Poor guy. Who would have thought cheating on your girlfriend would have negative consequences!

Erika Christensen plays Madison, but all you really need to know about her is she's an Evil Girl, and completely single-minded. Shiri Appleby is our hero's girlfriend, The Pouting Plot Device. Her only real use is to be sad when her boyfriend nails Evil Girl in the pool and be randomly kidnapped, run over, and otherwise terrorized by Evil Girl.

That's only the biggest problem, though. There's also his fictional job at the hospital, where apparently just anyone who comes off the street can give medicine to patients, not trained nurses. Or the fact that his friends seem to be as adept as the Mystery Machine gang at bamboozling Evil Girl. Or how she accomplished some of her Evil Acts (how exactly does one go about rigging someone's school-based urine test?). Also, Evil Girl is possessed of enough superhuman strength to beat Josh, Cocky Athletic Guy, to death.

The movie doesn't have an ending per se, it simply stops at an arbitrary point, with a few ambiguous images and absolutely no resolution to half of the plotlines introduced. I suppose the director had ADD or something. We don't know if our hero gets his girlfriend back, has his reputation cleared, ends up getting into college, or even whether his mom got up off the kitchen floor where we left her thirty minutes previous, victim of a vicious trophy bludgeoning.

Summary: Fatal Attraction (Part 6) or Malicious (Part 2)?
Review: This film is really a waste of time it is basically a remake of "Malicious & The Crush. In Malicious "Molly Ringwald" was obcessed with a sports jock get it? There really isn't any horror to this film. I don't know why it is considered a horror or scary movie? You have so many films that exist like this. Why did they feel the need to make this a Theatrical release? You have the Original "Fatal Attraction, The Ex, Devil in the flesh, The crush & Malicious! How many times can you make the same film over and over again? Then on the Dvd the directer was trying to do a "MAking OF Documentary! And he was just basically saying the same thing over and over. Trying to add some suspense to it taking about why she did this and that! I am trippin' I am like this isn't all that serious mann! It isn't all that deep ya know? And I am like you really haven't done anything different than before. This is basically a PG-13 version of the real Raunchy films. Start off with the originals first then work your way down to this. This is O.K I guess for what it is. But still lacks immagination and creativity! Really and truthfully if they really wanted to sell this movie? They should have gotten Deniese Richards or Jennifer LOve Hewitt to play the Psyhco! At least it would have made it interesting to watch! This girl already looked crazy from the GET Go! And she was just fairly attractive, so I don't know what the director was thinking? But I will say this, this film was just as amuzing as the others have been in the past! So if you don't do anything else get ready to laugh!

Summary: Good But Far From Great
Review: This movie basically is one of those that you know what is going to happen from the beginning. The lead should have been a bigger name or more suited for the role, from the stalkers point. You have to treat this as a comedy really, although some parts flowed well, others did not.

Summary: Fatal Attraction High
Review: This is the most blatant attempt at re-creating Fatal Attraction I've ever seen. Granted it's cheap entertainment at best, but as for originality one should look elsewhere. The sad thing is it will hit HUGE with the bubble gum crowd seeing as they have no clue as to what good cinema is and probably never got to see Fatal Attraction either, which might I add is also far more disturbing than Swimfan could ever dream of being. Madisyn Bell even has the characteristics of Glenn Close: fairly attractive but certainly not drop dead gorgeous. Overall, if you are 14 and listen to Britney Spears then this movie is for you, if not, go rent Fatal Attraction.

Summary: skeptics beware....
Review: i went into watching this moving with a purely unhopeful attitude for this movie. However by the end of the film i was fully engaged! not only is this movie high intensity, it has a cute side plot between ben and his girl friend that extends into ben(jesse bradford)saving her life.those who looked at the previews and said they'd never rent this movie, look out because you just might find something you like. Yes , swimfan won't be taking home any oscars, but it could however take home your approval.

Summary: BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD
Review: ...I'm usually not compelled to write reviews on here, but this movie was so hard to swallow, that I had to regurgitate somewhere...so it may as well be here.

This movie felt like it was edited with a chainsaw. The phrase "how covenient!" pops into mind about every 5 mins. I just wanted to slap every character for being so dumb. It's so bad that you never actually see the villian committing her acts. Only the before and after...like I said....chainsaw.

And what happened to the mother after she was cracked on the head with the trophy? Does she die? Does she live? Who knows? Again, chainsaw.

The actors aren't bad...just bad writing...they do the best that they can with this drivel.

And isn't it funny that in both Fatal Attraction and this film...the temptresses both drown???

Now where is the boiling bunny?

Summary: "Fatal" Flaws
Review: I had heard how laughable Swimfan was from others, but I have to say that, even after all the bad press and negative buzz, a part of me was still curious. Just how bad could really bad be? Recently, after watching the end result, I can compare it to reality television shows. You know its probably gonna be really bad, and yet somehow, you still manage to watch it anyway.

High School student Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford) seems to have everything he could ever want. He lives in a good home, he is a star on the school's swim team, and his girlfriend Amy Miller (Shiri Appleby), loves him very much. All that changes after he has a one night stand with the new girl in school. Madison Bell (Erika Christensen) decides that if Ben doesn't feel the same way about her, as she feels about him, she is going to make him understand how wrong that seems.

The film, is nothing more than a [repeat] of Fatal Attraction, this time for the MTV demographic. While teen films targeted to those folks, have their place, if I were part of that target audience, I would still be insulted by Swimfan. The script is filled with cliche` after cliche` and the direction by John Polson offers nothing new here in terms of how it all comes out in the end...the so called "twists" are so easy to spot that I was ahead of the game long before any of the characters. The acting was passable at best. I have seen better "retread" films like Fear, where at least the acting, made it watchable and fun. Swimfan is, by no means fun, just FUNNY

The DVD's extras provide even more laughs than the film. The commentary track with Polson, Bradford, and Christensen, is ok. I love it when the director, tries to wax philosophical about the subtext of the film. What subtext? The 2 principal actors on the track hardly chime in at all during the track, except to say how great the film is...There's a handful of deleted scenes. Most of which turn out to be mere extensions of stuff already in the film. The featurette is nothing more than a "fluff" piece, which I guess in this case, is a good thing. The theatrical trailer tops off the bonus material on the disc. The film can be watched in either the widescreen or fullscreen format

I am sooo glad I rented this film.Yes. Swimfan is as bad as I had heard. But is a great subsitute for a comedy, if you need a laugh, and there's nothing left in that section of the store to rent

Summary: Ok, I'm sorry
Review: I apologize for this movie. Fatal Attraction by way of Crimson Tide with a segue into a Greg Louganis splish splash twist. Thsi movie is so bad that I'm just goign to call it bad. Again, movies assume that if it's cute and sexy and a little thrilling, it can be dumb and vapid and make money.
And unfortunately, tripe like this can.

Summary: Never Say "I Love You" to a Psycho
Review: Swimfan is not that bad - aside from the fact that the plot is in no way original, and the acting is not all that great. Anyone who has seen "Fatal Attraction" can skip Swimfan, because they've already seen it. Here's the plot in a nutshell: a super-talented high school boy, Ben, becomes the object of obsession for the new girl in school, Madison, who gets mad after they have a little rendezvous in the pool, and Ben tells her to get lost; that he loves his girlfriend Amy - not her. Ouch. Okay, before you start to sympathize with Madison, take into consideration that she is a complete nut case, and will do anything to make Ben hers. You can all guess what happens now.

Swimfan is just another teen movie trying to pass itself off as a mature one, but the whole thing sinks pretty quickly. During every scene, we can predict what will happen in the next one - and it's no surprise. Despite what some "critics" supposedly have said, there are no suspenseful parts whatsoever, and you ultimately don't care what happens to any of the characters. (And I, personally, wondered why Madison was so obsessed with Ben in the first place.) The DVD is okay if you like the film - there are a handful of deleted scenes with the director's commentary option, director's commentary for the film itself, one little featurette, and the option of either full screen or widescreen. If you didn't like the film, none of these extra features will excite you in the least.

I can't say I recommend this film to anyone, but I will say that, at less than an hour and a half, it held my slight interest up until the end - which is why I'm giving it two stars. But overall, this one deserves to sleep with the fishes.

Summary: Agreed. "A Poorly written but Well done film"
Review: This is 2002's best "Guilty Pleasure". Yes, its predicatble. Sure, I've come up with a thousand better endings than the one given; but lay back! Enjoy the waves:) I'm not going to tell you what this movie is about, because, quite frankly, that is not my job. What I do feel though is a responsibility of mine, is to tell you that this movie was great! The acting is surprisingly wonderful (and despite the role given, Shiri Appleby is amazing! See Roswell), the direction is wonderfully sleek, and the pacing is fast and crisp! If you want a better story, see "Fatal Attraction", for it is far creepier and much more well-involved. But if all you're looking for is a few chills, some great acting, and a refreshing movie: SEE SWIMFAN!
