Summary: Nothing new
Review: I feel like I've seen this movie a hundred times already. The story has been done to death. Swimfan offers nothing new. No surprises, no scary moments, no nothing. And these high school kids look to be about 30 years old. There's not even decent swimming footage...

Summary: Hey, kids! Count how many movies "Swimfan" reminds you of!
Review: "Swimfan" is representative of a type of a film I have noticed in recent years where it seems like pretty much every key moment in the film came from a previous one. The first time I really noticed this phenomenon was with "The Rock," but "Swimfan" is clearly in that mode as well. You can go the easy route and say this is "Fatal Attraction" set in a high school the way "Cruel Intentions" was the same thing for "Dangerous Liasions." Of course, that was much more of an adaptation than what we have with "Swimfan."

The story is simple. High school swimming star Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford) is trying to get an atheltic scholarship to Stanford which will put him on the other side of the country from his girl friend Amy (Shiri Appleby) after they graduate. While practicing for the big meet Ben has a close encounter of the decidedly sexual type with new girl femme fatale Madison (Erika Christensen). At the key moment she asks Ben to say that he loves her, even if he does not mean it. That, more than the underwater action, is what dooms Ben for the rest of the film, where the only question is how much damage can Madison do to Ben and everybody he loves (or who crosses her path) before the final credits.

The emphasis here will be on style over substance, but what I found myself doing was calling out every movie that a scene in this film reminded me of (do not worry; I did this in the privacy of my own home). So besides "Fatal Attraction" I found myself thinking of everything from "Dawson's Creek" and "Felicity" (remember, she stalked Ben during Season 1) to "Ordinary People," "Silence of the Lambs," "You've Got Mail," "Saving Ned Divine," "Friday the 13th, Part 2," and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." That means that while this might not be a great movie or even a good movie, it can be a fun movie for those of you out there who have an encyclopedic knowledge of movies and can make the connections. The rest of you are just going to have to watch the film and decide who you want to win in the end.

Summary: Basic Copy of Fatal Attraction
Review: I sorta liked this movie. For me, it seems to follow exactly the plot of Fatal Attraction, which was much better. Jesse Bradford plays Ben Cronin who is the star of the swim team and has a girlfriend, Shiri Appleby, who loves him undyingly. Erika Christensen stars as Madison Bell who is the new girl in school who falls in love with Ben. The actors play their parts well and the director moves the camera with confidence.

Cronin is a high school senior who has just about everything going for him. He has a great girlfriend, Amy, and a swimming scholarship to Stanford in the works. Ben's life seems almost perfect. Then Madison, the alluring new girl in town, develops a crush on Ben, although she says she just wants to be friends. But it seems that Madison has an odd way of defining "friends." As the story goes on, Madison's life is revealed and twists and turns in the plot keep the watcher engrossed.

The DVD is fantastic. It pleases both widescreen and fullscreen fans by putting widescreen on one side and fullscreen on the other. The picture quality is good and the colors are enriched. The sound is great from the dialouge to the music. The specical features are spread on both sides of the disc. Some are: deleted scenes, extended scenes, and feauturettes.

This movie is definately worth the rent. This film is aimed more for a teenage audience.

Summary: Closer to 3.5 stars........
Review: This movie wasn't too scary..... just a bit creepy. People are saying it is the teen version of Fatal Attraction, but I've never seen Fatal Attraction. This movie is definetly worth seeing. It is a little slow moving in my opinion, but I thought Signs was slow moving and my friends totally disagreed. I'm not positive if it is worth owning. I bought it, but this isn't one of those movies that all types of people would enjoy or that is for all ages. So you should just give it a try and rent it and decide for yourself.

Summary: A modern day "Crush" that makes you MAD!!
Review: Remember the movie "Crush"? This is the modern day version. Still full of horrible twists and turns that will make you throw things at the screen! This movie was made pretty well because I got pretty mad while watching it...exactly what the director wanted! Plus Jesse Bradford is always a plus - he's a great actor and eye candy!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Erika Christensen is great
Review: I bought this movie because I'm a fan of Erika Christensen, and she doesn't dissapoint. She plays a crazed girl who can't stop harassing Ben played by Jesse Bradford. You know she's evil, and it's fun to watch what's the next evil thing she does. How evil can she become? I found myself rooting for her, which I don't think was the movie's intent. Ben's girlfriend played by Shiri Appleby is a likeable character. Madison (Erika) gets somewhat extreme and unreal at times, but that's what makes the movie fun to watch. Director's full length commentary on DVD is a treat.

Summary: Be Warned
Review: I made a HUGE mistake in purchasing this DVD. This is one of the worst, most predictable films I have ever seen. You see, when you watch a film, you want to be surprised. You don't want to have to say, "Oh, let me guess, this is going to happen..." Save yourself the money and just rent it if you still want to, but at least, you have been warned. Enough said.

Summary: Swimfan
Review: Although Many other reviewers said that this movie fell short of their expectations and thought that it was to predictable I strongly disagree with them. I watched the movie having read the reviews and expected a so/so preformance. From the beginning I began to guess what this psycho stalker might be planning next, for her so called "lover". The seductive and spooky stalker provoked havoc on the live of Ben (the guy she wants and is willing to do anything it takes to get her man) This suspensful thriller will having u guessing till the end and it definitely deserves a rent....I don't wanna give to much away so you'll have to watch it yourself

Summary: Yes people,I liked it
Review: Swimfan is a teenage version of the 1987 classic thriller Fatal Attraction, which I haven't seen yet so I can't do a comparession of both films. After recovering from a drug problem,Ben Cronin(Jesse Bradford)as got his life back on track. He's the star of his high school swimming team,on the verge of getting a swimming scholarship from Stanford University, has a beautiful and loyal girlfriend Amy(Shiri Appleby) and good friends. Then Madison Bell(Erika Christensen)enters the picture and has her eyes sight on Ben.Madison seduces Ben into having a one night stand with her and even gets him to tell her that he loves her in the middle of it.After that, she starts emailing and paging him like crazy and after Ben tells Madison off,Ben's life starts going down the tubes.Swimfan is a teenybopper movie, but it's also a thiller and a good one too,not a great one but good.I really had fun watching this film and Erika Christensen really creeped me out,she made a great psychopath.I've always like Jesse Bradford since 1995 when Hackers came out and of course I'm a big fan of the show Roswell. You can tell that these three young actors have really good talent and this film is a great display of that talent.I can't wait to see what comes next for these young talents.
