Summary: So so movie.
Review: It's not a bad movie, but not an outstanding one either. If you're a fan of Judd or Freeman like me, watch it. If not, skip it.

Summary: Predictability Is The High Crime
Review: That's exactly the problem with this movie.
It's way to predictable! This must have looked much better on paper, and I know that they must have thought that they had a huge twist ending, one that could challenge the ending of The Sixth Sense. They were dead wrong. I had the ending guessed within ten minutes of the movie being on, and that's not right!
Morgan Freeman is in this only to give it a professional feel and fool people into thinking that this movie is better than it really is. The story is interesting enough, but it's to simple, no creativity involved in the writing whatsoever.
The only positive thing about this movie is the acting thaat comes from relatively unknown, Amanda Peet, who, judged by her performance, and beauty, should definantly be in more big hollywood productions. But for the most part, High Crimes doesn't even rank as a misdemeanor.

Summary: ¿High Crimes¿
Review: In "High Crimes" we have another wonderful pairing of the ever beautiful Ashley Judd and one of the best actors of all time, Morgan Freeman. These two certainly have a way of making extremely very good movies. The premise: Ashley Judd plays a high profile defense attorney who has just won a big case and is on her way to becoming a partner at her firm. Her husband, played by Jim Caviezel is a carpenter working out of a home shop. They are living the perfect life until one night, while sleeping; their home is broken into by a couple of teenagers.

From the break in scene, we roll into a night out shopping. While walking back to their car, he starts to notice several people paying attention to them. A flashbang is thrown in his direction, she's separated from him and he's arrested. We then find out that he's been picked up by the military and accused of a war crime. Without spoiling the movie, what follows is a suspenseful, dramatic movie about a wife trying to save her husband from the death penalty. While trying to do so, she and her sister are put in harm's way by people trying to keep her from the truth. "High Crimes" is a very good movie that will definitely keep you guessing until the end.

Summary: Great plot twist and intrigue!
Review: I've never been let down by any Morgan Freeman movie and I have to admit that that was why I wanted to see this movie instead of its main star Ashley Judd. This movie captures Judd at her finest and places her at odds while she defends against a military court martial that her husband has been wrongly accused of murder. A worn-out and on-the-skids Morgan Freeman teams up with Judd to offer his assistance and as cloudy as he may seem, his help is very critical to the defense of her husband. This movie is a great drama with thriller-like moments that kept me interested. Ever since seeing Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption, I've come to have a high regard for him and this movie didn't let me down. I felt Judd was probably on top of her game in this movie also which made the pair gel together for a great movie about loyalty, murder and lies! 5 STARS!

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: At first I wasn't even going to rent this movie from Blockbuster - same old, same old - Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, detective, rookie, etc..... glad I went outside the box and rented this DVD - it was entertaining, somewhat unpredictable and had some very good acting and was not a detective/murder mystery type of movie.

Ashley Judd plays an attorney who is defending her former marine husband against war crimes. She staunchly believes in his innocence and will do almost anything to win the case. She hires another attorney (Morgan Freeman) who has experience in dealing with military trials to help her. Morgan Freeman is excellent as the recovering alcoholic attorney.

The plot is not predictable and just when you think you've got it all figured out, another wrench is thrown into the story.

Great way to spend a few hours on a rainy Sunday.

Summary: A Good Time With Two Old Friends
Review: Sometimes you just want to sit down with a couple of old friends and watch a good old-fashioned film of mystery and suspense. Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman have become so comfortable working with each other you feel youself relaxing to and just enjoying the ride. Director Carl Franklin has crafted an involving film that is beautifully photographed, an ornate elegance adding to the proceedings.

Claire Kubik (Ashley Judd) has a nice life as this film opens. She is a defense attorney for a respected law firm in lovely San Francisco and she and her adoring husband Ron (James Caviezel) are trying to have a baby. In other words, life is good. But when she finds herself face down on the street with her husband being arrested under another name her world is turned upside down.

Judd does a nice job showing all the emotions and the pain she is going through while at the same time coming to terms with what has happened, as everything she thought she knew about her husband goes out the window. Amanda Peet gives a fine performance as Claire's free spirited but supportive sister Jackie. Claire discovers her husband is being charged with the murder of civilians in El Salvador while on a military mission and will receive a military trial.

Claire believes in her husband's innocence and when he is assigned a very green 1st. Lt. Terrence Embry (Adam Scott) to defend him she wants in but knows she needs help with military law. Enter Morgan Freeman as Charlie Grimes, sober for over a year, his sharp wit and knowledge of a military courtroom still in tact. The interplay between the two is easy to watch as their chemistry fits like our favorite old pair of jeans.

But the closer they get to what really happened and the cover up that goes all the way to the top the more dangerous it becomes for them. Even when evidence they uncover is used as a bargaining chip to have the charges dropped all is not well, as Charlie has discovered something about the case in Mexico that will shed even more light on the truth.

Adapted from Joseph Finder's novel this is fine entertainment and has a teriffic epilog that will leave you wanting more from Judd and Freeman. We may have been here before but Judd and Freeman take us through the paces so deftly that we can't help but enjoy the journey. This is a good one to own and is worth the price of admission.

Summary: suspenseful drama.....
Review: Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd work well together in High Crimes as they did in Kiss the Girls. Even though this movie is a bit drawn out during some scenes, it is thrilling for the first-time viewer. I am not a huge fan of murder mysteries or courtroom dramas for that matter, but High Crimes is worth a look for anyone to see whether you really enjoy murder mysteries or not.

Summary: IF IT WASN'T......
Review: for Freeman and Judd, this film would have been a flop. The plot was alright but I had the feeling from the beginning as the story unfolded, that the poor husband was in fact the guilty party. So the ending was no surprise to me. The military courtroom scenes leave alot to be desired, were weak and tedious.

I bought the DVD but sure would have been satisfied just to rent it.
