Summary: Ugh.
Review: What an absolutely miserable waste of shelf space. I wasunfortunately subjected to this putrid excuse for a film by myfamily's extremely poor taste. Out of sheer boredom, I sat in on a good chunk of the film, and I must say, it is rock-bloody-bottom. An absurdly predictable plot line, shoddy camerawork, and contrived screenplay make this a wholly repulsive piece of junk.

About the only element of the experience which even approached suspense was the constant wonder of (a) how far would the next gratuitously disgusting scene of mutilated corpses be pushed and (b) was that burrito I ate for dinner going to come back to visit me? There are some scenes in this film which are so unspeakably grotesque, they are LITERALLY painful. While I realize that the particular genre of the film automatically implies some degree of violence and gore, this film stepped WAY over the line. It is truly distrurbing. It is truly gratuitous. It is completely abhorrable. How this film received MPAA's R-rating "seal of approval," I cannot begin to conceive.

The combination of lame filmmaking, nonexistant character development, and the occaisionally-interspersed vile imagery left me more disturbed at the thought of the film's DIRECTOR, rather than its serial killer.

All in all, the film is rife with completely unjustifiable, pointless gore, and is completely lacking of even the slightest bit of cinematic redemption.

If your idea of a good time is watching alternating scenes of horrific violence and Denzel Washington sitting in a bed and overstating the obvious, well...

But it certainly isn't mine.

Summary: SubPar whodunit
Review: I must be missing something. It is supposed to be a who-dunnit but it turns out to be who-cares...the main story is a subplot. The real story is the developing relationship between the main two characters....and I'm sorry, but I never saw it happen.

Summary: Eh.
Review: One word comes to mind when I try to descibe this movie: Formulaic. While perfomances by Jolie and Washington were good, there wasn't enough here to keep me that interested. It wasn't horribly scary, nor was it very suspenseful. Mildly entertaining at best. I think most people should be able to pick out the killer halfway through. I've seen worse, but I've DEFINITELY seen better.

Summary: Good Movie, Bad Ending
Review: Hope the title didn't ruin it for you already, it is just a shame when a movie builds up for and hour and a half just to settle for a stupid ending. It's not predictable, but disappointing nonetheless. Still, it's worth checking out for the good story, acting, and creepy scenes.

Summary: must see
Review: I started off seeing this movie with the intention of watching only Denzel....but I ended up watching someone else who was even more gripping. Angelina Jolie was superb in the movie which makes it truly a must see movie

Summary: This was THE greatest movie!
Review: I thought this movie was the best! I think both major actors not only had excellent performances onscreen, but also had the chemistry necessary to supply the romance side to the storyline. The Bone Collector kept all at the edge of their seat at all times.

Summary: Disappointing Se7en knock-off
Review: I admit I was suckered into purchasing this DVD because another site said it was "reference quality" audio. The audio, while good, doesn't make this movie a disc you throw in to impress your friends. I am impressed that both DTS and DD5.1 audio is included, along with a few extra features. For that, Universal is commended. The video is sharp also; it's good enough that you wonder if Angeline Jolie's lips have been augmented with collagen.

However, the problem with this movie is that it just isn't very suspenseful or scary. The cast is good, but it can't help the fact that script is sub-par and the dialogue forced.

Denzel Washington ("Lincoln Rhymes") stars as a former forensic expert who has been paralyzed in the line of duty. He becomes involved in a case anyway when a young NYPD cop ("Amelia Donaghy", Angeline Jolie) stumbles onto a gruesome murder scene.

The movie doesn't draw in the viewer into caring about the serial murders being committed because it focuses more on Rhymes tutoring Donaghy in the art of forensics rather than the victims or crimes itself. The movie doesn't bother to develop the murderer's character, so a viewer doesn't fear him nor really feel interested in the case.

To make matters worse, the sappy character development made me roll my eyes a couple of times. In fact, there isn't any other that of Rhymes or Donaghy's character and even that seems awkward. For example, it's just not believable when Donaghy suddenly is enamored of and friendly with Rhymes when until then Donaghy had no respect for Rhymes at all.

This movie might be worth a rent, but definitely not a buy. Try Silence of the Lambs or Seven instead.

Summary: Absolutely Terrific. 6 stars
Review: Best movie I have seen so far this year. Great acting, great story. You've got to see this movie. In fact if you buy or rent any movie this year, make sure you buy or rent The Bone Collector. If not I guess you just don't enjoy great movies. Peace.

Summary: Denzel's Number One Fan
Review: Again, Denzel has out done himself with his acting ability. This is a must purchase for his fans. The plot was absolutely terrific and will keep you in suspense until the very end. You will never guess who the culprit is.

Summary: Public Embarracement
Review: Okay, so I saw this movie with my parents at the cinema ... yucky! But I was able to enjoy this movie anyway. The acting was great, scenes were sometimes scary and the plot was well done. Two thumbs up!
